Phone Problem

Has anyone elses phone suddenly get no service??? I live in NYC BTW. on my way to school this morning i was talking on the phone, i went underground on the subway, then when i got to school in manhattan, it was Searching for service. Manhattan is covered extremely well, so its not a dead zone. i had all battery bars then in less than 1 hour the battery died. So now i get no service anywhere in NYC and i have to have the phone connected to the charger to use the phone. Is this a DEFECTIVE PHONE or is VZW screwing with me? Anyone else got this problem???

Design Flaw?

I am trying to assign the phonebook as a shortcut in my menu, but it will only allow me to access one contact instead of the entire phonebook. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem? If not, any tips on how to correct it?

Free Web Access

I had my phone set up to use the free web access advised on Howard Forums, and it worked for a few weeks. Now, all of a sudden, I have an "HTTP Error: 403 Forbidden" message come up on the screen as soon as I press the web button. It doesn't even give the option to subscribe to VZW web service anymore. Any ideas what happened? Did VZW get wise on it? Is anybody else getting this message? Let me know.

CDM9900 PDF file says Sept 30

Here is the CDM9900 PDF file that was sent to
me by steeda76.

http://home.comcast.net/~fauguy/CDM9900.pdf »

It says:
"The Wireless Devices Group announces the launch of the Audiovox CDM-9900 to the product line-up September 30th.
Audiovox will send Launch Kits to all Verizon Wireless Direct locations to arrive week of September 6th.
Call Out Cards for the CDM9900 will be shipped directly to the stores for receipt no later than September 7th."

So now it DOES look like it will be the 30th and not the 7th

Is this phone really that good?

I am in the market for a new phone, and the store near me still has this phone in stock. I already ruled out the v710 after all the things I heard about it, but is the samsung 670, lg 6100, or moto 265 comparable or better than the audiovox? I already tried the 8900, and 9600, and I have been disappointed by both.

Has anyone had either of these things happen?

Yesterday every time I tried to use voice dialing, a message came on that said that the name could not be recognized. It was working fine before that.

Another strange thing happened today. Someone called me, but instead of the phone ringing, I heard my own voice, which I recognized as being one of the voice notes I had recorded yesterday! šŸ˜•

Pop mail

Is there another option beside Soda Pop mail (get it now). Is there anything the exists that I can tell it to retrieve mail from Yahoo or other email service. I would rather buy the software out right than pay a monthly service.

BitPim W/ Audiovox CDM-9900?

I'm sick and tired of my Motorola V710, with all it's flaws.

I'm considering the Audiovox CDM 9900 or the LG VX7000.

I had the LG VX700 for 2 weeks before the returned it for the Motorola V710. I was happy with the VX7000 when I had it, but when I saw the screen on the CDM 9900, I was very impressed!

I have used BitPim with the LG VX7000, for uploading and downloading ringtones and images, so that worked great.

BUT, has anyone used BitPim with thier CDM 9900? Can you even?

MP3 ringtones no workee for me.

so what I did is this:

clipped 5 seconds of a song I liked and saved as .wav

converted to MP3 using iTunes (mono, 16kbps and mono 64kbps)

the file sizes were 12k and 43k respectively

renamed the files to file.mid

the small file came through, put when I press play, no sound happens, although it takes the expected duration for the phone to act like it finished playing.

the large file got "dropped" as in the attachment wasn't sent to the phone. (actually, it was named file.MID, does capitalization matter?)

any tips before I waste another $.25

Ringtone Apps

I just picked up a 9900 the other day and I noticed that Verizon only allows you to download Modtones and Xringer. Other phones Verizon offers are compatible with several ringtone apps, but this phone is not. Does anyone know why? I know most of these apps are the same anyway, but why is there a limited variety on the 9900 where older phones and the v710 can use most of the ringtone apps?

Hello, this is Darth Vader calling .....

Yesterday, I was so excited after I swapped out my LG-6100 for this phone, but it looks as if I might have sung its praises too soon.

I use my phone primarily as a business phone, and yesterday I made a call from my apartment to someone senior at my company, and he said to me, "Kevin, do you mind taking me off speakerphone -- I can barely make out what you're saying." The problem was that I wasn't using the speakerphone -- I was using the phone normally, speaking directly into the mouthpiece. I didn't panic just yet, since the call on my end sounded crystal clear. I just figured that the problem was entirely on his end. But I made several other calls after that, and THREE PEOPLE said that I sounded like Darth Vader, with a considerable...

Questions (and Praise) from a Converted Skeptic

After spending two weeks in LG-6100 hell, I took the plunge last night and returned my 6100 (for the fourth time!) and purchased this phone instead. Although this unit, like the 6100, met my minimum requirements ā€“- tri-mode capability and speakerphone ā€“- I was nonetheless fully prepared to be disappointed....again. I had played with the phone extensively two days ago while in a Verizon store and initially thought it was not very user-friendly. I bought it because I thought if I was going to be let down again by a Verizon phone, I might as well pay as little money as possible for the privilege ($59 after mail-in rebate). I figured that I'd just endure this phone and wait until my dream phone, the Nokia 6255i, is eventually released.

I ...

Repost but need help. What am I doing wrong? (mp3's)

Sorry for this repost but want as much help as I can get!

I am trying to get mp3's to use as my ringer on my CDM-9900. What's my problem? I am using the steps that are listed in the tutorial.

1. Download clip from walmart.com
2. Change the downloaded clip's extention from .mp3 to .mid (shows up as a .mid on my desktop)
3. Send the clip as attachment with yahoo to my phone # at @vzwpix.com
4. When it arrives at my phone and I open the message I get "file type .midi not supported"
5. If I try to save it I get a "no song in current slide"

Call me stupid but if anyone could please walk me through the process again I would be a very happy camper.

I am using a Macintosh not a PC if that makes a difference.
