MobileWeb4U problems with messengers

I've installed MobileWeb4U, and while I'm enjoying checking my Yahoo mail on it, I cannot seem to get either Yahoo or AOL instant messengers to work, even though they are options under "communicate."

When I try to sign into AIM, I get a "404 not found" warning, and when I try to use Yahoo messenger, I can't find a box in which to enter text.

Has anyone else had these problems?

I don't want to use the GIN messengers, which charge against text messages for each communication.

CDM 9900 MIDI and Ringtone Bottom Line

2 CDM-9900s on the way to me (NE2). I've read all reviews and most of the posts on midi's and mp3's. It seems that you can bypass GIN by doing the e-mail mp3 conversion. I hope this works indefinitely and will not be blocked somehow by VZW. Aren't there any good midi ringtones available? It seems that this would be easier then the mp3 conversion hack. And is the data cable completely useless for pix, mp3s, and midis?

MP3 to MID

Damn!!! I found an mp3 to mid converter BUTTTT, most people wont like it. A lot of people like their words in the songs but this is the bad part. Yes it will convert the song successfully to an .mid file but it will remove the words from the songs. So you will have the same sh*tty beats as GET IT NOW.

Data Cable

Can anyone help me locate a data cable for this phone? All I want to be able to do is transfer back and forth my phone book and pixs from the cell phone to a laptop. I know someone had mentioned about a data cable you can purchase from Radio Shack, but when I went to my loca Radio Shack store, all I got was blank look on their face, no one seemed to have a clue as to what I'm talking about. Please let me know what I should ask for, i.e., model/name, etc. Any help regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Can't set up MobileWeb4U

I just subscribed to one month of WAP 2 at MobileWeb4U and the setup instructions don't seem to take me anywhere with FSC Code, IP or portal settings on my phone. Here's how the site says to do it, but first of all, * doesn't do anything in my settings menu. Can anyone help? I just got my phone last week; has Verizon made it so I can't set up my internet through another provider?:

Audiovox CDM-9900

1) Turn phone on
2) Press left soft Key (menu)
3) Press 7, * (may have to press * twice)
4) FSC Code: 000000 (six zeros), Press center 'select' key.

If you go to 😎 Settings, 1) Web, Proxy 0, It will show Primamry
and Seconday IP address

enter the gateway ip in both primary and secondary xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Using Leading ZEROS.

Downloading MP3s Free

Does anyone know what sites I can go to download free MP3 ringtones? I know certain sites such as Walmart charge a fee. Also, what sites provide movie clips or other things rather than just music? Thos polyphonic sounds are awful! Thanks.

Up in the Air about the 9900 - Need help

I got the phone about a week ago and I am not totally knocked out by it. It was a big upgrade for me, my last phone was a Motorola Timeport 270c.

One of the main reasons I got this phone was for the speakerphone. Maybe its my phone,
but When I tried out the speakerphone
in my car and at home and it was
terrible. No one could hear me in
the car and it sounded stuffy when at home.

It also seems to drop calls a lot. I live in Central NY and never really had this problem with my last phone.

I am looking for some guidance or suggestions about this. I have two options: 1) Return it and wait for another Clamshell with a speaker phone to come out. Or 2) Go with the Motorola V710. (However I read a lot of the user reviews and it sc...

Screen Size

I'm really looking forward to buying this phone, moving up from a Nokia 2285. But, I just have one problem. All of the sites say the main screen size is 240x320 pixels. Is that really the size of the screen or is there something I missed?

Charging overnight???

I just upgraded both of my phones to the 9900 and the saleman (Verizon store) told me NOT TO CHARGE THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT! I was surprised to hear this as I thought the Lithium Ion battery had no 'memory effect' as did the older 'Ni-cads' had. Anyone else know about this? Thanks to all. Great site!

About Verizon Employees

I hear people say the Verizon employee says this or that...Let me tell you Verizon employees are taught too do one only to sell phones & service...they get an hourly base plus a nice monthy bonus for meeting their sales quota and they get spiffs on different items and add ons (text messaging mobile web etc.) It's like the car business except they lock you in on a contact 2 years preferably it pays more comission...It's all about money...How do I know...ex Verizon employee been through the training classes and I know how it works...they are not there too help you there there too make money...bottom line...Best advice comes from forums where people share their true experience with the product...

My 2 cents on MobileWeb4u

I've been using it for several days and I have no complaints - I've connected every time and got what I tried to get. I ran the Speed Test (seems to be an Italian site) and it showed 15 KBs. I registered for one month and it if continues as it is, I'll sign up for the year.
