Charging overnight???

I just upgraded both of my phones to the 9900 and the saleman (Verizon store) told me NOT TO CHARGE THE BATTERY OVERNIGHT! I was surprised to hear this as I thought the Lithium Ion battery had no 'memory effect' as did the older 'Ni-cads' had. Anyone else know about this? Thanks to all. Great site!

I believe that the manual indicates that the battery cannot be overcharged. In fact when the phone is fully charged the red light goes off and the screen says charged.

My battery has charged in less than two hours. I also get about seven days standby with minimal usage. I let the battery completely discharge before recharging.

(the salseman told me the battery was fully charged when he put it in the phone for the first time - and it wasn't - and the manual says to charge the battery fully before first use - so what do the salesmen really know?)

alexs is right. Phone will not overcharge. I leave mine plugged in all the time until I walk out the door.

I'm not an expert, but based on what I have read, and my own experience, I think there is benefit from completely draining and recharging the battery every once in a while.

My last phone was never fully discharged for about a year, and I could tell that it wasn't holding as good of a charge any more.

I read in the manual that it's not recommended that you charge the phone while it is turned on. I've been charging while the phone is on in some instances (e.g. when I'm expecting a call) but does this minimize the capabilities of the phone itself? What do they mean when they don't recommend charging the phone while the power is on?

Thanks...and Happy Thanksgiving!
