Still going strong!!

Don't know if anybody will ever see this post but my CDM-9900 is still ticking!! Bought it when I was still a VZW employee back in October 2004!!! Took the leap to the BB Storm the day it came out and as most people know, not the greatest phone. So, back to my 9900 with the original battery no less!!! WOO_HOO!!

Is there anything out there right now that even comes close to the 9900??

I have a 9900, and my contract is up, but nothing out there seems even remotely close to this phone. I would love to keep it, but I'm not sure how long it will last ☚ī¸ Plus, my state is going to be passing a hands-free law, and I would like to have bluetooth. eeerrrrrr..... any suggestions?? 😕

downloading stuff from 9900

I have an Audiovox 9900 which I have used for the past four years or so. I love the phone, but am told by Audiovox that its software just doesn't support some of the stuff I want to do. Like download pictures using the cable I have, or downloading the phonebook to my computer, or using the Verizon Backup Assistant to save my phone listings on their site.

I have checked out the Susteen DataPilot software, but it only lets me use it for the phonebook download.

Does anyone know if there is a software update available so I can use this phone with Verizons Backup Assistant, or to download my pictures onto my computer, etc????

I would keep this phone, and the extra one I have as a replacement, for many years to come if it would only d...

My 9900 is dying and I can't find a worthy replacement.

Nothing Verizon is offering right now seems up to par with the 9900. Nothing has its solid construction, non-gimmicky features, sleek menus, even the wide opening angle.

There is the new GZone, but it is a behemoth. Still, I might have to go with this behemoth.

Really it's too bad Audiovox didn't make a followup to the 9900. I would buy it in a second.

Any others struggling to find a worthy replacement?

problem when open phone - phone thinks it is closed and shuts down

Title says it, the best I can explain is that you open the phone. Then the LCD goes gray and it acts as if the phone is closed? I can get around it by putting pressure on the hinge when open (near where it says Menu on the display). It's a pain tho, when you first open the phone to answer a call, it will immediatly hang up.

I dont know if it is a flex connector between the top/bottom sectons of the phone or something else.

It's really annoying. My new every 2 is ready for an upgrade but I'm just waiting for the KRZR (dont like any of the phones verizon has out right now).

Well if anyone else has a similar problem/solution, post!

thanks

Security Code Help

Hi,

I have owned a 9900 for the past two years, but then my hinge broke. I bought another 9900 off of Ebay to replace it (for now)

the previouse owner of the phone has deleated most of the wallpaper and ringtones and I hate the ones he has. I would like to reset the phone to it's factory conditions, but can't because the previous owner has changed the security code and either doesn't remember it or won't tell me. I tried the last 4 digits, 000, 1234, etc. to no avail.

Is there any way to get around this to reset the factory condition or a way to find out the code? The phone works great (I activated my # on it), but the security code is still a problem. Verizon tells me they can't reset it since the code was manually set.

I e...

Get It Now Error

😡

Getting so annoying!

I've never had problems with it until recently, with data sending.

I had a 9900 that worked for about a year, still works fine with the exception of Get It Now and phone to phone picture messaging. It was a data corruption they think at VZW. I got it replaced and I have a brand new 9900 now. (suprised me, they still have replacements for the phone they discontinued )

Now with my new one, I went to Get It Now. When connecting it stops and gives me this error:

"Unable to retrieve catalog. Please try again later. (1281)"

Anyone have this phone know what's up with it? I see no reason why it wouldnt connect...

Also, I've noticed that I'm never in Digital, just 1X, it was like that before I replaced th...

buttons disabled during some calls

On about 10% of my calls, I find I can't adjust the call volume; the buttons are ignored. When it gets into this state, pressing any other buttons other than Hangup seems to be disabled as well. I exchanged my phone for another in an attempt to fix this, but the new one has the same problem.

Is anyone else having this problem? How can I get this problem fixed? I don't want to keep exchanging the phone for another that has the same problem again. I can't demonstrate the problem for the verizon tech as it doesn't always behave this way.

Problems with refurbished 9900

I had to send one back, and Verizon sent me a factory--refurbished replacement. It worked great for a few months, then this past week, my service has been terrible. No reception in places I used to have full bars, etc.

Also, the Get It Now does not function properly in this one. I bought a chess game over the summer, now when you try to load Get It Now, all you see is the chess icon (even though I've had to call to cancel the game).

I really don't want to switch models, because I love this one, but I also don't know how I'm going to have it repaired.

Get It Now Error!

First of all, this is the best phone. ever.

Better than any other phone I've ever used or owned.

Even better than my friends razr v3.

Now to the problem, a year without any problems, but now this!

When I hit the "Get It Now!" button, I get this

Application
Unknown Error (3)

Anyone know what that is, do you know if verizon can replace it or fix it since they stopped making 9900s?

If they can't I'd just live with it, no way I'd trade in the 9900 for any other phone. Just doesn't compare!

Free Ringtones

Is it poossible to find free ones somewhere? I dont want or need music ones, I prefer hmmmm, probably more like a sound effect that wont be hard to hear even in noisy settings. Was just on Verizon's site and whoo too many to browse. Just want one. LOL

Ringtones....

I just got a used 9900 from somebody from ebay, but the jerk never told me that it had a "get it now" access bug. Everytime I hit the button, a grey sceen would appear and that's it. 😡

Verizon tried everything they could to remedy the problem, but all they came up with in the end was, "it's a bug we can't fix, but we'll giveyou a new phone".....but I LOVE this phone.

Is there another way to download ringtones to this phone without using the "get it now" feature??

Thanks,

Eric

HELP! Need to find a new 9900.....

My son just broke my 9900 đŸ‘ŋ Sat on it while the clam shell was opened.

I just got a used one from somebody on ebay, but the "get it now" feature doesn't seem to work (just a grey screen when accessing). Verizon said they'll try to get me a new 9900, but they doubt if they have any left in their warehouse.

There is NO better CDMA Tri-mode phone that Verizon has that is better than this one!

Does anybody know where I can purchase a new one???

Thanks...
