Analog Mode

If there was anyone who lives or lived in NYC during the attack of the WTC knows how important cell phones were. Verizon Wireless was, I believe, the only cell phone provider offering cell service at the time of the attack. Which was very crucial in those grueling moments. Now analog mode played a very big role that day. Not once did a call get dropped during analog mode. Now my question is...if god forbid...something like that happens again would digital phones work even with all this new technology or is analog still the back up mode???

Re: HOW TO GET mp3's ON YOUR 9900 - TUTORIAL

Thanks to your reviews I got this phone two days ago and I love it!!!!! , the last one in a verizon store just 15 min from where I live. I’m new here, I want some ringtones I followed the tutorial exactly except for the downloads from Walmart they charge you 88 per song plus the 25 to Vzn and I don’t know if I m going to find what I want in Walmart. I have sent mid files of 84 and 80 k I don’t think they are two large and I have this message:

"unsupported content type application/octet-stream nameofmyring.mid "

I’ve done everything except that I used of my mp3 songs not the ones from walmart. Some help please πŸ™‚
Thank you in advance EdwardZ

Heavy interest in the CDM-9900 even when dis****inued.

Reading this forum and some other sites continues to amaze me. For a discontinued phone the interest and following of it remain high. The price would normally drop to nothing, yet it sells "used" on E-Bay for about $225 - $250 I like mine, as well as the predecessor the CDM-9500 and hope Verizon continues this line of Toshiba Phones. I don't believe the LG-VX 8000 out-classes the 9900 at all. Verizon this could have been a wonderful Flag Ship Phone if you had only got it out 6 months earlier? Why didn't you?

Got rid of the 8940 for the 9900

Picked up the LG 8000 on release day (upgraded from LG 6000) and loved everything about the phone except for its size. I use a holster and it felt like I had a brick on my belt. After about a week I decided that it was too big a phone for my tastes and returned it for the Audiovox 8940. I had wanted a speakerphone so I went with the 8940 over the Samsung 890. The 8940 speakerphone is such a piece of crap that they should have left it off as a feature. The calls sounded tinny and the front LCD had 3 choices of wallpaper that were embarrasing. The vibrate was so soft that I was missing calls with the phone in my pocket. Everything about the phone seemed cheap and a step backwards from my LG 6000. After 3 days I found a retail store that carrie...

Anybody know how to get video clips to your phone? I have tried and have failed. I have tried to rename the clip to the same format it's in when I send one. And i've shrunk the file to a size that shoud work but still nothing. I've asked brainy smurf for help but he didn't know what to do. Any ideas from anybody?

quick question

I recently had the 8000, but decided to reactivate my 9900 and wait until something better came out...e815, or maybe the 8100.
So with the $15.00 I'll be saving I decided to put the web on the 9900 for $5.00. My question is what should my homepage be? When I hit the launch web, what is my "default" homepage url supposed to be. I changed it to google.com because I was just getting a ad whenever I launched up. And whats with the web anyway, it seems Freakin Useless. I cant fully read or even get into a lot of sites...the nyc mta train, weather sites.... They either dont prompt properly or they can hardly be read. Is that normal?
I know my phones, but Im not too familiar with the cell web any help is appreciated thanx. πŸ™‚

Battery Life

I would like to know from others how much battery life they are getting with the 9900. On standby, if the phone is not touched at all, I can get 3 - 4 days. Any use whatsoever, if I am lucky, I get 1 to 2 days, even minimal use. Audiovox is near where I live, and they claim that is normal for the phone.

Outside LCD options

Is it possible to download other clock options etc for the outside display? I know that I can change to image but just want highly visible time and date. Why does this LCD require a backlight unlike the LG4500?

9900 problems

Since Oct I have been through 3 9900 phones because of the problem not being able to delete certain GIN applications. Especially mobile IM. Also, the phone's display sometimes froze up on me if I was talking and I received a message, I would have to end the call to get rid of the white screen. Also, when on speaker phone the person who I was speaking to sounded like the were cutting out on me and vice versa. It's a shame because it was a great phone but Verizon upgraded me free of charge because being I had 3 defective 9900's they gave me the vx8000 as a replacement. The screen on the 8000 is not as clear as the 9900 but the speaker phone is much better on the 8000 and I like the option of being able to record a phone conversation if I have...

Putting MP3 on the phone for ringtones - Instructions attached

In order to put MP3 songs on the phone and use them as ringtones, they have to be converted and emailed to the phone.

Follow the instructions "TO THE LETTER" in the link below. Make sure you use the program mentioned and don't overlook Step 6, which is part of the conversion process. The changes you make in this step you do on the "Save" page.

It works well, if it doesn't for you, then you messed something up in the converion and one of the steps probably was not followed EXACTLY!

Hope this helps everyone! 😁

2 phones on one account

While I'm questioning boundaries, is there any way to have two phones on the same line? Using the SID or something like that? Or will the system only allow one?

My assumption is that the network recognizes an identifier that is specific to each phone much like a MAC address for a PC network card.

This has to be the greatest phone ever!!!!!

I have had the phone since October of 04 and have had no problems. Some things are quirky but I don't believe that there is a perfect phone out there.

Anyways, I have been cursed with the ability to find water in the desert with my phone. I am a police officer and it seems like everytime I turn around, somehow my phone gets knocked off of my belt and falls into a puddle. I have ruined 5 phones this way. 3 Nokia's, 1 Moto, and 1 LG.

Well it happened again Sunday. During a rainstorm I was fighting a guy in the street and my phone came off my belt. It landed in the gutter (with 7 inches of roaring water and was swept down the street). I finally found it 3 blocks down and 20 minutes later, caught up in some branches underwater. I pulled ...

Keypad lighting - two menu buttons...

This is about the two menu buttons below the display - the ones for Menu and Contacts on your main screen. When my keypad light is on, I have light everywhere except the upper right corner of my keypad - where the top right menu button is. My hangup key is also more dull than other areas.

Do I have a defective phone or is this normal?

No more 9900's, so now what.

Well, thanks to a clumsy waiter a Chili's I'm my 9900 to an unexected swim in ice tea. Verizon is sold out of 9900's here, so I'mback to my Audiovox 9500. It's only been 5 days and I miss the heck out of my 9900.

I dont guess any of you are shopping for phones now, but unfortunately I am. Whhat in the world does a 9900 fan buy now.

Have we heard anything on a new phone from UT Comm (the folks that bought Audivox's phone line, i think that's the right name)?

Found CDM9900's

BAM!

After a painful search, I have found CDM9900's! It turns out that many of the techs for Verizon have car audio installation histories (due to their need for installing VSM kits). One of these guys refer me to the local car audio dealers. Some of the local car audio places are also dealers for Verizon. They must not move alot of phones. Dealers apparently are required to keep or purchase an inventory of phones. My local shop had the CDM9900 in stock. Good luck and happy hunting!

This screen is awesome! I am completely stoked!

Memory Problem???? HELP!!!

When I try to save the ringtone which I send to myself over e-mail (Options->Save->Sound) it tells me that "Media Gallery Memory Full!" afterwards it suggests to delete data from the media gallery. I don't have any videos, extra ringtones saved on this phone, i do have about 5 pictures in medium resolution. When I take a picture the memory gauge says that I have 15% memory used. In Get it Now options it says I have 1.2 Mb of free space. So i believe I have enought memory for a 172kb ringtone. Please advise on what should I do.
