problem when open phone - phone thinks it is closed and shuts down

Title says it, the best I can explain is that you open the phone. Then the LCD goes gray and it acts as if the phone is closed? I can get around it by putting pressure on the hinge when open (near where it says Menu on the display). It's a pain tho, when you first open the phone to answer a call, it will immediatly hang up.

I dont know if it is a flex connector between the top/bottom sectons of the phone or something else.

It's really annoying. My new every 2 is ready for an upgrade but I'm just waiting for the KRZR (dont like any of the phones verizon has out right now).

Well if anyone else has a similar problem/solution, post!

thanks

well went to verizon. phone is out of warranty (2 years old) and i told them i do not want to get a new 2 year plan/phone yet. so they said there are over 150 cdm9900 in the verizon warehouse. The guy waived the $50 fee for replacement and only charged me $25. I figure this will hold me over until the KRZR is out.

They said the problem was the flex connector that runs through the hinge.
