I subscribed to mobileweb4u.com and entered all information provided by them...but when I start web, I get this message:

Welcome to VZW! For Mobile Web or Cust.Svc, Call *611"

Did they block mobileweb4u already???

No, mine still works. After you subscribed, did you remember to change your homepage to http://wap.mobileweb4u.com for WAP 1.1, or http://wap4.mobileweb4u.com for WAP 2.0?

And did you remember to change your IP and port settings to the ones you got upon subscribing?

Yes, I did all those as provided by mobileweb4u, but still have the verizon message come up. I asked the mobileweb4u people and they did not have much to offer in the way of help. They kept talking about a password, but where and when do I enter the password?

The only good thing is that I only paid for one month. I guess I will cancel the service now.

Not sure what you are doing wrong. I would walk through the setup again. I just checked my phone, and the mobileweb is still working, so it must be something wrong in your setup. There is no password, but maybe what they are referring to is your IP and port #'s. I had to contact the tech support when I first subscribed, but they were very prompt and accurate in their responses. I would give the setup a few more run-throughs. If you want, detail the steps you went through, and I'll see if they differ from the way I set it up. Not sure how tech savvy you are, because I didn't know this when entering the IP, but an IP has to be 12 numbers long. For example, if they provided an IP of 99.999.9.99, you would have to enter 099.999.009.099. ...

You didn't mention this in your response and I'm sure you checked it again, but did you enter the IP and port numbers in both the primary and secondary? Maybe this would help- did you try turning the power off and back on again? Maybe your phone is having problems recognizing the changes. If you don't have any luck, I'd try taking it to tech support at the VZW store as it might be that your phone isn't recognizing the IP change, because there really shouldn't be a reason for it not working.

Well...the folks at mobileweb4u figured it out...now I am able to connect...as it turns out, the number that my phone is broadcasting is different from my phone number, that is why the mobileweb4u server was not allowing me to log in....now I am connected and able to use the serveice!

How do you like it? Did you have Verizon's mobile web before? If so, how do they compare?

Well I am certainly new to "phone surfing"!

This is my first experience with mobile web. It has been good so far, but quite frankly I don't know if I will be using this much at all. I just paid for one month to test it. Of course this is just me, others may find it useful.

It does not use text messaging, so no text message fees, instead, you are using airtime minutes to be connected to the internet and use the AIM online client.

This one ONLY works while you are connected to the net. Close the phone, and you are gone. TXT msg based AIM keeps you "virtually" online all the time.

Is there a place on mobileweb4u that u can enter a web address? It was listed under portals with vzw.msn but I can't seem to find it on mobileweb4u. I am looking with my computer on the wap4.mobileweb4u.com site.

Also, do the pix come up on the homepage? The don't come up on my computer.

Thanks! 😁

I have actually been looking for the same thing, so I don't know. If you contact them or figure it out, please share the info. I'll do the same if I figure it out.

There are no pix on the homepage, however I have found them on ESPN, and have also found radar pictures for weather. I think the only pix you'll find on the homepage are icons. Like I said once before, the only downside with mobileweb4u was that the homepage wasn't as "pretty" as VZW. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Follow-up: You can go to other URL pages by going to WINKsite user at the bottom of the mobileweb4u homepage. It will ask you for a WINKsite ID that you would like to visit, but you can just hit clear and it will bring you to the WINKsite menu. There is a "Go To URL" option on this menu under #11. Click OK on #11, and it will bring you to an address bar. I think it is self-explanatory at this point, so I will stop there.

I just signed up for a WINKsite this morning though, and I recommend doing it. It's free for one, and you can build your own WINKsite to include favorite links. It gives you a listing of I'd say around 30 or 40 links to use. Or, if you have other sites in mind that aren't on the list, you can enter them to be in...

I subscribe to mobileweb4u and it works really well for what I'm looking for. I'm a little confused on what this winksite does and how I would use it. Does it give free web access? Does it allow me to save "favorites" (I don't appear to be able to do that now). If I sign up for winksite is it something that I woulod make as my home page? Maybe you can elaborate a little. Thanks.

No, it is basically a link to a website off the mobileweb4u homepage. It just goes beyond what is offered off of the mobileweb4u homepage, such as FTD florist, movie ticket websites, airline websites, etc. You can get some of the same links from the mobileweb4u homepage such as ESPN and ABC News, but it definitely expands your options as far as browsing. It does not give you free web access. You still access the web through mobileweb4u, and your homepage is still set to mobileweb4u.

Like I mentioned before, if you register at WINKsite, you build your own site, which can include favorite links, among other tasks such as blogs (still don't know what those are) or journals if that's your thing. You can pick from the listing of links tha...

Ok. I went ahead and signed up for their 2.0 service. Can anyone decipher the directions for the 9900? It says go to the menu, press 7, then the * key. That does absolutely nothing.

Timing is everything.....you MUST perform step 3 immediately after you first see your wallpaper upon powering up the phone. I had that same issue the first time I tried it.

1) Turn phone on
2) Press left soft Key (menu)
3) Press 7, * (may have to press * twice)
4) FSC Code: 000000 (six zeros), Press center 'select' key.

I just signed up for this service on my cdm-9900 phone and I could not get it to work either. I now have it working because the username under the Bearer0 settings were set as MDN@vzw3g.com but it needed to be changed to @vzw3g.com where the number is your actual cellphone number. After I did this it works fine.
