Absolutely the best phone to use as an alarm clock
I have one of these from 2003 and I still use it to this day as an alarm clock. I put some of my favorite midis in there and I wake up every morning to either pacman theme or U2 - beauiful day.
It's got excellent bluetooth syncing capability with macs, which is why I bought it in the first place. Also works well as backup internet connection in case your broadband goes down.

I currently carry around a Zire 72 and my 710. Soon I will be able to sell my Zire 72 and just carry around the one device.

You might want to wait a bit for the 650 to come out at a RadioShack store. That's where I got my V710 and they had a price that was $50 less than verizon with the new every two program. So check it out.

RadioShack just dropped their price on the v710 to 199.99 with 2 year activation or 229.99 with a 1 year activation.

The picture might be too big to display?? just a guess. You might have to send the pics through Mail as "windows friendly". I've never tried sending a pic to my phone through email, cause I don't know the email addy of my phone. How do you find out what your email address of your phone is?

Name dial "Voice Mail" is not dialing
Anyone who has the v710 knows that there are many ways to get to voicemail. One way is to say the command "Voicemail" and apparently, *86 is dialed and then you have to hit # and your password to actually check your messages.
Another way is to go into your contacts and select Voicemail. This number can be programmed in however you like, for example you can program it to automatically enter your password for you. This ...

You're probably putting files on the card that the phone can not understand. For example, there are some hidden files with Windows that get automatically added to the card that can cause the card to not work in the phone. Also Mac OS X does the same thing. I'm assuming your having problems viewing the contents of the card on the phone, or your phone is freezing when you go into your media gallery. Mine ...

I'm not sure if this will help or not, but at some RadioShack stores, we sell a bluetooth adaptor which can be attached to the bottom of just about any Motorola phone. This should allow you to use the handsfree feature of your BMW with a different Motorola phone. Are you saying that events in the future are deleted or events in the past?
If it's stuff in the past, then there's a setting in the datebook on the v710 to "Delete After:" and mine is set for 4 weeks, so anything synced to the phone would automatically get cut off beyond this point, then when it was re-synced with iCal, those events would show up as not having ever took place before that time.

I found out what the problem was and fixed it.
I'm using Mac OS X and learned by searching the fourm that people with Mac OS have been having problems with T-Flash and freezing of the phone when they are using a card reader to alter files on the T-Flash. It's because of some invisible files copied to the card by Mac OS that cause the v710 to have some kind of constpation.
There's a nifty little utility called iCleanup ...

Switching storage device in Sounds freezes v710
I have the V710 and a 128 MB T-flash card from SanDisk. I've successfully copied a song (chain link.mp3) to the T-Flash card but I can not seem to copy anything in the other direction because every time I try to access the card from within the Sounds area of the phone, the phone freezes up and only responds to the end call button.
Someone with a simmilar experience please help me and tell me what I am doing ...

It is still available as some RadioShack stores, but only until word has gotten out that we are not supposed to sell the phones. I just bought one at my own store today so I know this for a fact.
I also talked to my verizon rep and he says that Verizon is going to be sending a card or letter by mail to all v710 owners on its service that will allow them to come into a VZW ...

You might want to try the recently discovered hack to increase the system volume. You can find it on this forum. As far as the scratches go, take better care of your phone and stuff like that won't happen. I know there are generic cases out there into which the v710 will fit. Although it's probably not a permananent solution, it should help you in the meantime.

Also, make sure you are not covering up the ringer speaker on the bottom of the phone with some kind of case/holster or something. That will help a lot.

The $70 RadioShack mail-in rebate is for 2 year activations OR upgrades. Basically whenever you agree to be with VZW for another 2 years you're getting the phone for $30 less out the door and on top of that you're getting a $70 MIR.
