Thank you Cingular...

...for announcing the coolest phone to ever hit the market 6 months before it is available. My phone is ringing off the hook. I barely have the time to talk to customers who want to purchase something today because I'm so busy answering questions about a phone that I've been told nothing about from my RAE yet. I have about as much info on it as they do, but they want to know everything about it right now. They want to see a live one and be able to play with it immediately.

I just had a guy walk up and respond to my "How may I help you?" with "yeah, I want an iPhone." Don't we all? I don't have them yet. No one does. Learn to read past the opening paragraph on whatever website you were browsing. This guy also started asking me w...

wireless internet cards

I work for VZW... I'm not trying to start a debate about what carrier does this better than that carrier...
People have been asking about the broadband cards lately and they ask about the monthly fee which is $60 (and $80 for people who don't use vzw)... they say "well -insert carrier here- has them for -insert price here-"... well, you came up and asked me what the price is for verizon so I told you... by telling me that someone else has them for cheaper doesn't help either of us... I can't make it cheaper and I don't know why soandso carrier only chargers however much... I have no response to that other than "you get what you pay for" (which isn't always true, but what else am i supposed to say?)
But seriously, how am I expected to sell...

Hangovers...make you say mean things (long)

Last night was fun. This morning wasn't.

Woke up 25 min before my shift. Barely made it on time. No time for breakfast. Feeling weird. Headache. Big ol' Gatorade bottle helped alot. Anyway...

This lady has a "bluetooth car" as she called it. When she activated service 2 months ago (through telsales) she said she needed a bluetooth phone because she had a "bluetooth car." The idiot sales rep (no offense to sales rep in general) assured her that her Audiovox cdm-whatever had bluetooth on it. She failed to try the out the bluetooth in the first 15 days. When she finally figured out bluetooth was not a feature on he phone, she started calling customer care, and has been, for the last month or so, trying to get an upgrade to a differen...

Why is my bill so high?

I hate this question! All the time people come in with their phone turned off (hotlined) and ask this.

The answer is always, "Because you're payment is past due." or "You're over your spending limit."

The reply is always "why?"

How about me asking why you don't ever look at your bill, or why you ask this every month.

And by the way, just because you didn't get the bill in the mail is not an excuse to not pay it. There is one every single month, you know this. If you mysteriously didn't get it, then go online, or call care, or come to the store. We'll reprint one (most of the time there's a fee for this) and then after you review it thoroughly you are entitled to ask why it is so high.

Tell your kids to stop texting those stup...

Well that's nice, you're going to treat us all as criminals.

I'm thinking they don't pay us enough for this crap.

Here's what they're going to start doing very shortly...

90% of our outside web access blocked.

No outside e-mail... we can only use our email internally.

No phones anywhere on the floor

No paper (none)

No pens, no pencils.

I resent being treated like a criminal.

Most of it, who cares...

But the pens/pencils thing pisses me off. I would like to do my homework during the 20 minutes between calls on Sunday. I also enjoy doing Sudoku puzzles, which will be nixed now because I am not allowed a pencil to do them with (maybe I'll bring a pack of Markers and see what they say, crayons, paints, and a pin so I can write in my own gawd dalm blood.

Bastards.

Snow Sucks.....My big fat ****

So I really think my employer is puting my life at risk by mandating that I come in to work today considering I almost slid underneath 3 different semi trucks on the freeway in this wretched blizzard. On top of that, it is dead slow! No one is going to treck through this mess to try and buy anything. The only people that have dared come in are people with complaints. I hope risking your life to come make my day a little bit worse is justified for you!

New sprint plan brochures

Has anyone seen the new plan guide brochures?

They're huge!

Where are we supposed to put them? they don't fit in the brochure holder, or the welcome envelope. And there are different ones for business, powersource, consumer, (and spanish consumer in my market.)

What happened to the stapled booklet style brochures of olden-times? I liked those a lot better, they were easy to use, and it seperated the info so the customer is not looking at free incoming plans while you are explaining fair and flexible family plans.

Go away. I can't help you. (a little long)

A lady comes in yelling (literally) because she has an additional $100 in text messaging charges.

I look at the bill, the account, and go so far as to ask if she has access to her account online because that will show every message sent or recieved.

The lady only buys 250 sent or recieved messages because she didn't want to pay $10 to be unlimited between VZW phones. Her son used about 1250 messages. At $0.10 per message over the 250...you see where this is going.

She wants a credit of $100 and wants unlimited to only be $5.00 because her kid said it's only $5.00. I explained the packages available. She got upset with me because I'm implying that her kid is a liar. Well, the kid hasn't a clue. The $5.00 package was dropp...

Driving Sales

Hey fellow phonescoopers. As you all know I work in a store, and we have dead slow days here just like everyone. Question is, have any of you found a working solution to this problem that actually does attract customers to the store, or how do you raise the sales in your store?

Obviously once the customer is in, encouraging them to buy more accessories and add ons increases revenue, but has anyone here found a way that really works to get more customers into the store?

ANY stupid or brilliant ideas would be great, honestly I just don't want to be bored at work if I could be putting in a little more effort and getting more $$$, plus I'm sure you've thought of ideas no one else has, and they would benefit us all here. Thanks for any ...

I know this sounds bad, but I feel kinda good about cussing out an old lady.

Actually, it was an old couple. When I was driving through the parking lot trying to find a place to park yesterday - this old couple was doing the "old people shuffle".

The "old people shuffle" is defined as - old people walking just to the right or the left of the exact middle of the road. The goal is to make it impossible to drive around them.

At this point, I was forced to iniate the "hyerptension inducer". This involves me depressing the clutch in my car, building the revs to 8,500 RPM, and then dumping it into first gear. People tend to move really fast out of my way, despite the fact that my car is stationary.

Then I parked right next to the old couple, who had finally gotten to their car, and wailed on my h...

SPRINT EMPLOYEES: CHECK YOUR PAYCHECKS.

I knew this Peoplesoft conversion wasn't going to go smoothly. I'm 23 hours short on my paycheck and I am PISSED! (I know that 8 of that goes on my next check too!)
But my boss said he didn't have any way of putting in vacation time for me for the last pay period, which would've made up the other 15 hours. I am absolutely FURIOUS!

iPhone(s) Plural

I just read this, and it surprised me. Thought I'd share.

Cingular announces today an exclusive partnership with Apple Computer Inc. to create revolutionary new wireless products. The first of these products is the iPhone, an innovative wireless phone combining the reliability of the Cingular network with the simplicity and functionality of an iPod.

I really didn't expect this to be a plural, but it looks like there'll be more on the way.

Customer Longevity...

Ok here is the question that I have, why do cell phone customers feel like since they have paid their bills on time that it warrants a deal on a new phone, when they are not eligible for an upgrade or just broke their phone and don't want to pay for a new one.

Does the electric company give out free light bulbs, or free months of service for long time customers, no.

Does the cable company give discounts on TVs or let you get the new HD digital converter for half off, no.

Does the car manufacturer give you a major deal on your next car because you have driven their brand for the last 10 years, no.

I work in customer service and have done so for the last 5 years, and that is one thing that I cant seem to understand. can anyone s...

why do customers do stupid things? common sense!

Like, a guy asked me what the camera capability of certain phones was, then not two minutes later told me he doesn't even use the camera on his phone anyways.

Or when I tell customers that if they want to use internet related features, they have to have the data plan. then the next month they come in wanting to know why their bill is so high.

why can't people use common sense?
Please, I'm beggin the world, just a little more would make everyone's lives just a little easier.
