For the last two days we've had snow and sleet and very low temperatures, but it hasn't seemed to keep anyone away from the mall...in fact I've done more acts/renewals in the last two days than I've done all month. Am I crazy because I'd rather stay at home in a warm blanket than get in my car, slide and spin all the way to the mall, and freeze half to death all just to shop? No thanks! I activated three phones for a very nice couple today...but they had packed up their four children (included two babies) and drove an hour in this crap just to get to our kiosk. I don't get it.

I hate when customers walk in already on a call and stand in front of my counter staring at me. I'm not going to greet you until you are ready to be greeted (it sucks because we are supposed to greet them the second they walk in.) and I'm not going to help me unless you are ready to be helped.

And when they finally hang up, I'll be doing something for them, and they call the person back, knowing I'm going to need to have a conversation with them.

If there's a line, I'll help the next person. I'm not going to make someone wait for the jerk in front of them to finish their call. If the first guy gets mad, I just tell them that we have to help those that are ready first, if you want fast service, be ready to receive it.

I just now got rid of this guy. He has been here since we opened at noon. He was well dressed but had a mullet and about a week of beard growth so he looked insane. He started the conversation with, "I was in a car accident so I'm a little messed up". Yeah, that's being pretty generous. This guy was a nut. He wanted to know about phones that worked in Guatemala. I explained to him that we don't sell any international phones in the store but gave him the number to telesales and thought he would be on his merry way. Nope, he spent the last two hours babbling incoherently about Treos and then he grabbed a plan guide and literally pointed at every single thing in it and asked, "What does this mean?" I am on the second floor of the mall next to a ledge that overlooks the first floor... i can see cingular down there... i want to work there so badly...
they're pretty busy so i bet they make good $$
all the employees are attractive men
they have other kiosks nearby with people they can talk to and goof off with
they are always laughing and it looks like they are having a good time
but i sit up here, all alone and longingly stare downstairs...

My afternoon was rather crazy yesterday and I didn't get a chance to put this up.

My store is in a little strip mall and we actually share bathrooms with a little music store next door. Sometime around 3:00, I smelled what I believed to be marijuana coming from the hallway that leads to the bathroom. I follow my nose and, sure enough, the smell is coming from the men's room. I knock on the door and someone coughs and says they'll be right out. Some guy that looked a little like Willie Nelson without the guitar comes out of the cloud of smoke and heads back to the music store. Not looking for a fight...or a second hand buzz...I turn on the exhaust fan and close the door.

I really hate it when people call in but are in the middle of doing 8 other things. We have GREAT hours of operation (weekdays we're open from 6 am pacific and go until 10 pm pacific, weekends we run 6-6 (again, pacific) so we're open a LOT and LATE) which means you really can call us when it's convenient to you, please, I'm begging you, do so.

It will only take five minutes to go through the whole order process if you just focus on what we are doing instead of wandering off on tangents with everything around you every five seconds.

But if you're going to insist on NOT paying attention to half the things I say then please, you idiot, stop yelling at me because this is taking so dang long. I could have finished this ten minutes ago if...

Some lady and her kid came up - and this is about how it happened. (I sh*t you not.)

Lady and child walk up. Child is probably 4. He is eating ice cream. It is all over his face and hands.


Lady: Where dat iPhone at?

Me: I won't have any for another 5 months.

Lady: Da other Cingular store got 'em for $399.

Me: No stores have them ma'am.

At this point, her son starts running his ice cream covered mits all over my glass - that I just cleaned.

Lady: Oh yes it do!

Me: Oh - no it does not.

Lady: How much it gonna coss to get it prepay?

Me: Likely around $1,000 ma'am.

Lady: Oh hell naw. I know this guy who work for ya'll who can get it to me for like $200 on prepay.

I have perfect credit. Spotless. I pride myself on that.

I have credit card bills that are due tommorow. And we were supposed to get paid today - and since ADP is incompetent, we didn't get paid.

So at this juncture, I'm f**ked.

600 people did NOT get paid today. Does anyone else see this as a massive issue?

I FINALLY, FINALLY got to see one of those kids with skate shoes bite the dust! 🤣 Sadly, the mall is pretty empty so the only witnesses were myself and the girls who work at Hallmark. One second he was skating along, looking all smug, the next he was on his ass with a bunch of girls laughing at him. What's even better is that the kid looked at least 18. Do they even make skate shoes for adults? And why? 🤣

I haven't had anyone even come in the store for the last few hours.

I've tried the eating trick. Every time I put food in my mouth, nothing happens other than me eating.

I've put a sign by the road that says "FREE PHONES"

The weather is a little warmer, so I've propped open my door.

I've even started up conversations with customers at the neighboring stores and nobody is coming in.

If I had one of those stuffed cell phone suits (like a school mascot thing) I'd even be willing to put that on and go out by the road.

I'll be lucky to get any one today...

i don't want to jinx myself with a return, but i've doubled the amount of commission i've earned for the month today...

Customers use it! A while ago a couple approached while I was still doing my opening paperwork. I told them if they had any questions, I would be open in fifteen minutes. The guy of course goes, "Yeah as a matter of fact I DO have some questions!" Okay then I will be with you in fifteen minutes, and what's with the attitude? He then decided to stand right in front of me for the next five minutes, just staring at me like intimidation might make me open early. They left after five minutes but I'm guessing they'll be back any time now, probably to raise hell about something.
