That doesn't change the underlying reality

Saying "But I thought..." Does not change the underlying reality that what you though was WRONG.

Repeating it STILL does not change anything, it only annoys me.

You're still wrong.

Really though, is the iPhone worth what it costs?

Gripe. It's EDGE, not HSDPA. Why the heck would I want a phone that costs what my rent does, and it isn't even high-speed capable?

I'm sure it will be groundbreaking - I remember how the iPod was. I think the price will come down - and then people will pick it up.

This is how the RAZR was, if you all remember. That's when they make some serious money on the phone. I guarantee the manufacturing costs aren't going to get any higher.

So, my answer is that I'll get the iPhone when it gets to less than $500 retail ($499). Right about the time the 2 year price gets around $250. I just don't think the people who want this device can afford $750 for retail.

Unlocking Nokia 3390b....

I just recently unlocked my old Nokia 3390b. I have a spare line with cingular that I would like to utilize, but once I insert the SIM card and power on the phone, it asks for a security code. I have no idea what it is. I have not even used this phone for like 3 years. Any tips on how I can resolve this issue? 🙂

Laptop Cards

I'm looking for a comparison on Laptop Cards from all the servie providers. I know everything about Cingular's cards 'cause I work there. So I need info about T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, and others.

I'd prefer the info like this:

CINGULAR WIRELESS

Technology: HSDPA/UMTS
Fallback: EDGE

HSPA speed: Up to 3.6 Mb/s
EDGE speed: Up to 120kbps

3G Coverage: Most metro cities
EDGE Coverage: Virtually everywhere you get voice coverage

Future upgradability: Speed should double in the next year to 7.2 Mb/s, and current laptop cards will be future compatible with new speeds.

Card Price: $169.99-$100 Mail in Rebate=$69.99 with new two-year agreement (Sierra 875)

Service Price: $59.99/month Unlimited

Also, if you s...

A Sad Cycle

I've noticed a large number of customers terminating service to go to other providers due to a lack of free phone selection on upgrades. Its just sad we get compensated so little for upgrades that i can't afford to give you a free phone. My least expensive phone free on an addline upgrade would yield me a wopping $6.00 Gp. No thats not a typo. So the result is cancling to another service. 2 years later its time for upgrade and here they come looking to activate with us again and pick up something for free with act. I hate to say it but loyalty really isn't honored in cell phones...

"Your total Damage will be..."

I like to say "Your total damage is going to be..." instead of "you total charge/cost/whatever..." Because I think it's funny.

Most people don't catch it.

If my boss did she would probably eat my face.

I don't care that much, it amuses me and does no harm.

I had a guy catch me today and he started laughing so hard he had to get his inhaler.

Glad I could make one person laugh today, it made everything that's happened since I logged in worth it.

I'm going to beat you with your phone if...

You ask me to "Cut you a deal."

You Ask "Can you waive that?"

You start a sentence with "You People"

You Ask "Why is that so much."

You Ask me to change anything on an order already placed.

You blame me for something that went wrong with an order YOU placed on line.

And I'm spent.

iPhone - for reps who know

I'm sure this is posted all over the place, but I figured I would try here since you all seem to be at the top of your game.

Has there been anything definitively said about how the iPhone will be sold to existing cingular customers? There are some media outlets (engadget) that are reporting that at CES they said existing customers have to sign a new contract, but the price is the price, no non committment price, etc.

So if I am a cingular customer but not eligible for an upgrade, will a contract extension be enough to get the phone?

And also, is it true that as a cingular premier customer the upgrade cycles are different?

Thanks

ak

No more contracts!?! What?

So I met a customer that apparently knows a lot today. He informed me that the cell phone industry is so comepetitive now that even though carriers all moved to 2 year contracts they are all going to offer options with no contracts soon to stay in business. This was his excuse not to do an upgrade. He still needs to do more research before he upgrades.

Thanks for backing me up, management.

😡 I am so pissed right now...must vent...

I just had a call from someone who was not the account holder wanting to activate a phone. Per company policy, we don't activate phones for anyone but the account holder, as this begins the contract for that line of service. I explained this three or four times to the caller, who began to throw a tantrum worse than my two year old cousin and demanded a supervisor. I give him to the sup and listen in. The sup rolls over and plays dead for this..."man" is being way too generous right now. Way to make me look like an incompetent idiot. I can hear him now..."yeah I got some girl that said it couldn't be done, but I asked for somebody in charge, and they did it!" 👿 This lets customers think that...

Used stuff...

I've had 3 customers today for used stuff.

First wanted a used phone. That's fairly normal. Sorry. I don't have any right now.

Second wanted a used house charger and specified they wanted a warranty on it. Sorry. If I had a used one, I wouldn't put a warranty on it. New ones aren't that expensive. Just buy a new one (which they didn't because they're convinced that Goodwill or the Salvation Army might have one).

Third customer wanted a used Bluetooth headset because they don't want to spend the money on a new one. SORRY! I've only ever had 1 used BT headset here and that was when I upgraded myself and sold off my old one.

People are getting cheaper and cheaper. They think they're going to beat the system and show u...

I can't stand Sprint!

Anyone else here work for sprint and hate it? No wonder customer service is lacking....because most of the managers and supervisors don't care about the employees! So "attitude reflects leadership".

Can't wait to quit!

lying for sales

Do you fellow reps ever listen to someone at your store blatantly lie to a customer to get a sale like saying..."Mam I understand you want to buy online, but did you know the phones from our website have no warranty on them?" I know it is petty but it seems like these are the types of things we have to say to put food on our families plates!

drunk in the afternoon...

I sometimes have trouble believing how many people come in to my store absolutely stinking of liquor in the mid afternoon. I think some work 3rd shift at one of the many factories around here and they go out to drink after work. Oh well. It's their life. They can do what they want.

I want to go home!

Custie walks in. Yes, it's that customer that I was reffering to earlier, the one with the hummer. Well, this time she drives up in her Lexus.

Me: Good afternoon! What can I help you find?

Cust: I just called insurance, and they made me mad!

Me: What happened?

Cust: Well, you told me when I bought this phone that they would send me one just like it if I ever had to use the insurance. (She holds up a red razr)

Me: Yes, so what's the problem?

Cust: I don't want one just like it, I want the Krzr!

Me: Insurance can't do that.

Cust: That's what they said! They wouldn't even let me pay the difference in the two phones!

Me: They can't do that.

Cust: Well, it's within 30 days of me buying it, so can I retu...
