Or when a stranger sees you smoking and completely change direction so they can come and ask for a cigarette and then they just stand around. Obviously they had somewhere to be, that shouldn't have changed because they found someone to give them a smoke.

I'm a manager. And a male.. and I have to admit that from my own personal experience, females were better to work for. I guess it depends the level of management also.

Violent customers
Jan 31, 2009, 8:27 PM
in the Shop Talk forum

M = Me VCC = Violent crazy customer Quick backstory; we have a type of corporate account here that requires us to fax a form to a department to get a autorization # and then we refax it to activations. Obviously this can only be done during week days and those customers are aware of that. What we usually do is do the invoice, program the phone and process it through the system the next business day. My new rep comes ...

I had one very successful businessman spend the whole afternoon in my store on Saturday. And when I say the whole afternoon I mean he got to the store while my rep was eating lunch and left because we were starting to turn the lights off. "I bought this in October and it's not the phone I wanted." he says and points to another phone "This is the one I want." :o "I'm sorry, did you say October?" I ...

Or they buy the Storm, are on a plan that cost them 100$+ a month and play the recession card to get a discount on a car charger. You either pay 100$+ a month because you *need* your phone, then the 30$ for a car charger is the last thing you worry about, or you lower your plan. Simple as that. If you can spit out 100$+ a month, then you can buy a car charger and no, I ...

Had a rep process an upgrade and needed to change the rate plan code for the new version of the plan. Rep told the customer the new plan was the exact same thing as the old one and there would be absolutely no other charges. The plan was something along the lines of 1000 North American minutes for 110$ a month but the rep didn't bother counting how many 0s were on the new plan he selected and chose ...

'Tis the season... :x Cust: How much is that Bluetooth headset? Me: That'd be 99.95$ Cust: It's for a Christmas gift Me: Ok :) Cust: So how much is it then? Me: ... 99.95$ Cust: But that's the same price :? Why on earth would the pricing be different if it's a gift?? I mean, everyone would buy "gifts" then... odd. /;|

I agree, best phone ever and by FAR. Call quality is very high and the phone in general is extremely reliable. It's the only phone I remember never having a problem with.

So I pick up the phone on a very busy day and end up talking with this delight of a customer. C: I'm trying to connect my bluetooth to my blackberry M: I'll try and help you over the phone. Did you make sure the bluetooth was in pairing mode C: Yes M: Then when you search for it with your Blackberry what do you get? C: It won't let me do anything M: Can you describe your bluetooth to me, maybe I can try ...

May 9, 2008, 11:42 AM

Nah... honestly; they won't. People working in the stores tried to do that time and time again and no one in the call centers can do it. Its actually the way the systems are programmed; they can recognize the provider with the ESN of a phone and it blocks out a phone the moment it's not a Telus version of the model. So even if they did sell that particular model, it would still need to be their version ...

Canada's pretty strict when it comes to cellphones and the companies make sure that their phones are locked on their own network. If Telus doesn't sell that particular model and you can't buy it from them there's really nothing you can do (except return the phone of course). They just won't activate it, trust me on this one.

I don't think it's illegal, per say, (at least in Canada) but it doesn't change the fact that the customers come to our stores, looking to sign a 3 years contract and don't have any form of identification with them... which is slightly odd to begin with. Worst thing is when people drive to the mall, without a wallet. A) you're driving without a license, B) why go to the mall if you don't even have a wallet with ...

Ok so I had a very nice gentleman call me yesterday and get in an arguement with me. The customer "had been told" that because the case his phone was in broke and he lost the phone earlier that day while walking around the block, it was covered under the manufacturer warranty and we should replace his phone. It went a little something like this: C: It was defective so I should have a new phone M: The warranty covers problems ...

*shrugs* I wish I knew... but I really don't... I just know some people around here use it as sort of a "putdown" for people in Ontario.

Re: is canuck a putdown or a description?
Jan 15, 2008, 5:57 PM
in the Canada forum

Lol... well, in Quebec, people refer to the ppl living in Ontario as 'square heads'. It's not like people from anywhere else will call you that lol. And it's not nearly as common as Canuck so that might explain why you've never been called that lol.

Jan 13, 2008, 1:29 PM

Yeah, we do. And no, I really wouldn't take offense. But that's just me, maybe some people would be offended, I really couldn't say. It's not like calling a French person a frog... or a square-head for people who live in Ontario. That's offensive, Canuck isn't.

I've had a customer like that once, he told me he could "hear the radiation" from his phone and he wanted me to do a swap on another motel till he could find one he couldn't "hear the radiation" with... That's just odd... at best. Guy was really serious too, told me that he asked all of his friends and none of them can hear it (...that right there should tell you something!)

Of course she chose that job, but then again, so did you. Its not like people who are in the military chose that career path to get 15% off at your store. And seriously, they risk their life everyday, while I don't approve of them getting discounts everywhere, comparing your job with theirs... lets face it, if either one of you deserves a discount, its definitely her.

All I can say is Amen! and when you try to interrupt them so they'll stop, they just keep on going and going... ugh, at least you can mute them or something, in store we have to nod and nod and nod... I feel your pain. Next time, when the customer stops talking you should go over every single detail and make sure you don't let the customer interrupt, make them feel how annoying it is :D

Re: Do you have....

Next time tell them that "those phones" were last produced in 1998, now all you can do with phones is listen to music, tv, clips, take pictures and film but never, under any circumstances can you call people with 'em. It just doesn't work that way.

Actually, he's not wrong about that considering how depending on the plan and depending on the company, upgrades might require the customer to change plans. It happens in like 1% of the upgrades, but it happens; usually with those "special" plans that were only available for a few months or with CORP plans.

Re: Which Bell phone?
Nov 5, 2007, 11:52 AM

If you are willing to wait a few days/weeks, I would advice doing so. That way, you'll get to pick from the new batch of phones that are being launched on the Bell network. The LG Shine is already available but a few more are coming this week. The ROKR, the RAZR2 and the LG Musik. If you're looking for a PDA/Blackberry, I would advice going with the Blackberry Pearl, otherwise the RAZR2 or the Shine. Hope it helps, ...
