I leave my store in an hour and never come back! No more cell phone stores for me! I know I didn't post a ton but I figure I won't be lurking in the shadows around here anymore...so farewell. Many of you have entertained me through slow days and snow days, bi!chy customers and ridiculous corporate policies. Alot of you have taught me more than I could ever imagine there was to know about cell phones. ...

Ouch, T-Mobile a day late and five numbers short: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/ 04/21/with-my-circle-everyone-is-welcome-at-a lltel/ 8O Looks like Alltel just hired a new ad firm for the commercial. Pretty clever marketing.

Shortly after getting the v557 I imagine. :P No, really though, the v330 (T-Mobile's version of the v557) was already replaced by the v360. Don't expect that to be upgraded for awhile.

Re: Question for Tmobile Reps

Though I'll agree with what everyone else has said, I'll have to add one more thing: Thinking outside the box. I work in sales and often have to toss things to customer care. Here's a good example: I remember being on the job about 2 months. Customer comes in with a phone bought a few weeks ago and the caller ID has never worked. I fiddle with settings, check other SIM cards, finally I call care. ...

Ok, so the whole thing isn't white. I may be an American, but I'm not THAT dumb. I do have a legitimate question though. I'm looking at not just studying abroad, but enrolling in a university abroad to finish my two undergrad degrees...and perhaps stay there after. Any experience with gaining citizenship in Canada? I've been poking around the EU and Canadian requirements abit but I was looking for a more personal take. Frankly, I've ...

Apr 7, 2006, 10:58 AM

I would do that under a few circumstances: 1) I had someone else at my store 2) It was slow enough that they could handle it alone 3) I had enough gas in my car 4) The customer in question wasn't an asshat So, yeah, way to be a good rep. You put the kiosk sales people around here to shame.

Compare at both full time and Verizon is giving you an extra $240 a week hourly. So, hours being equal, can you make $240 in a week under T-Mobile's commission structure? If that only works out to say 10 phones, then I say go TMo because you should sell more than 10 phones a week. If the commission structure makes $240 kind of difficult than go with the big V.

I have an MDA on its way to my store (for me personally, horay!) but in got delayed probably until the 14th-ish. As soon as I have it up and running I'll post the steps...if no one else has yet. I'm fed up with indirect. I'm good at what I do, incredibly knowledgeable and don't act like a jerk as some indirects do. I'm probably just going to apply for a in store sales position. What the rep was referring to was UMA. Its a new technology that (simply put) allows your UMA enabled cell phone to work over wifi. In my experience, Palm OS gets along with macs far better then a blackberry, most java based phones and of course, anything on the Windows Mobile platform(shudder). Depending on what version OS your computer is running, you should have at least some compatibility out of box with iSync. If not, www.markspace.com is where you can pick up "the Missing Sync" which is the bridge from macs to devices like PocketPCs, some Palms, and HipTop. A great source for ...

Two Year Agreements coming for new customers

Well, it was nice while it lasted, but reliable sources have it that come March, T-Mobile will begin offering two year agreements to new customers. I wasn't able to deduce whether the one year will still be a choice (with a higher priced phone, no doubt) or if you will be forced into a two year. Seems like T-Mobile is finally ready to start playing with the big boys...and leaving customers in the dust :x

USB Feature

Hey Rich, The feature updates look slick, but one point of clarification: USB is of course one way to plug into a computer, but more and more (especially with moto) we're seeing mini USB ports on the phones themselves. I wasn't sure which feature the USB line was addressing. If it is just addressing one, it may help to clarify when you click on the USB link instead of updating all the code. No company can afford to buy out contracts. If you look at the ARPU being between $40-$60 (If anyone has more exact numbers, please throw them in) then that's really not enough of a profit margin to throw $175 towards another carriers ETF. The only way that could happen would be if they dropped the phone subsidy (which they won't) and then you'd be in a 6 of one, half a dozen of the other situation; ...

Though the connection manager makes using hotspots a breeze, I believe you should be able to use your default OS control panel to connect to the access point and then through a forced start page you log in. If you are accessing/writing a log a few times a second (which does, indeed, seem odd) bypassing the Tmo software should take care of it. I haven't used Hotspots in ages, but I believe that's still the case.

coowguy was correct. Remember, though Authorized dealers do have to follow T-Mobile policy, some set up additional restrictions to protect their own rear end. I could guess at a couple reasons why you paid that much, but going that in depth won't do anyone any good. Go to A1, request your deposit. (TMobile can't refund money A1 has. Rich and Eric update carrier listings and available phoens every day or two. They are also posting news stories and talking with contacts at manufacturers and carriers as well as updating every other carrier listing. Search v360 in the upper right hand corner and the page will pop up. It will be moved to "available" and listed with TMo shortly, I'm sure.
