T-Mobile Home Tower?

I was talking to a T-Mobile representative about the weak reception at my home and he mentioned by the end of the year they would be selling a home tower for $20 to boost reception. It is supposed to be about the size of an indoor TV antenna. Has anyone heard of a carrier offering that at a reasonable price?

What I've seen would cost a couple-hundred dollars, nothing that reasonable... I'd like to see the make & model of what he's talking about...

What the rep was referring to was UMA. Its a new technology that (simply put) allows your UMA enabled cell phone to work over wifi. The "antenna" he's referring to is actually a wifi router running off a high speed internet connection.

More details about UMA tech can be found at

UMA is expecting to launch for TMobile in Q2/Q3. For more info relating to T-Mobiles launch check

Details are still blurry. It is coming and for many it will be the final death of the land line.

Hope that helps.

This very well could be the final death, i know for a lot of customers they have problems accessing a GSM signle in their homes.

Yep thats what the antenna boost is for. Reception in homes should get a whole lot better with this unit.
