Re: Verizon your smart phones SUCK

I need to ask what the heck do you want out of a simple phone? There is not much more that can be done to a simple phone with out having to charge $200 to buy one. If you add a bunch of high features, camera, screen resolution, touch screen etc, you are just increasing the price at which the phone has to be sold since here is not going to be an additional monthly revenue to ...

This is still available, just need someone to manufacture and sell the phones. It is not economically feasible, that is why no one is doing it. Even Google had very little success selling the Nexus.

Dont forget that there is a very large contingent of people who say they will drop ATT like a bad habit when VZW gets the iPhone.

Why do you need faster than 30ms latency??? 50 ms is considered real time. Faster than real time does not benefit anyone.

There is so much competition in this market that it is ridiculous. Even Wal Mart came out with their own MVNO, Straight Talk. I dont know how anyone can say that the cellular landscape in the US is not competitive. I work in a retail store every day and see the competition.

How did ATT get it right? They took away your all you can eat option? Now you have to be worried about overages. How many people are ripping VZW for hinting that they will go to tiered data plans on LTE, and now people are gonna rip them for not going to tiered pricing on 3G? Come on you cant have it both ways.

Sounds like you are a simple person with simple needs so you need a simple phone. Take the LG Cosmos or the Samsung Intensity. Both a querty and are simple phones. The ENV3 is a full featured phone, that is why it requires a small data plan, by small I mean about $0.30 per day. What can you buy for that in htis day and age?

Your data charges are for pix/vids. MMS on a smartphone without a plan still uses data and the charge is valid. You should either switch to a GIN phone or add a data plan to avoid these charges.

You do have a plan, you have a pay per use plan. Not being ambushed at all. If you use it you pay, if you dont use it you dont pay. Kinda like pay per view TV.

If you really are an employee obviously you are a disgruntled one! I obviously do not know what happened to make you dislike the company that makes it possible for you to pay your bills and live but maybe you ought to look for employment else where. The truth is that I ahve tested this on my line and my wifes line on several occasions and have never been charged 1.99 unless I navigated past the web ...

NO Verizon is not forcing you to pay for something you dont want, they are giving you 2 pricing options if you choose a 3g multimedia phone and 3 options if you choose a simple phone. Sounds like your usage is more fit for a simple phone than a multimedia phone.

My prediction is that other carriers will follow. ATT alrready requires 20.00 worth of data on there full keyboard phones. 9.99 is not so bad.

In most cases with electronics it is cheaper to make something bigger than to make it smaller. Also this is not a phone, rather it is a web surfing devise. It does not have a camera, it does not have GPS, it has a tiny amount of memory for a devise of its size. It cannot multi task, and does not run Mac OSx so it is not a real computer. There is nothing smart ...

This will acheive 2 things that will make it so much easier to sell phones. 1. Get those people who should not have more advanced phones out of them. Lets face it there are far too many people carrying ENV touches and Rogues who have no business with them. They do not understand that there might be some limitations to a phones capabilities and waste a lot of time of store reps complaining about something that ...

You have the oppurtunity to read the contract before you sign, and you have 30 days (with VZW) to cancel and not pay an ETF. If you feel that a company is unethical than please opt out and go spend your money else where. People need to look out for themselves, and not rely on others to do it for them. FCC needs to stay out of business
Dec 23, 2009, 11:56 PM
in the Article: FCC Not Satisfied with Verizon's ETF Explanation forum

This is a free market economy and that means that companies can charge what they feel is fair and consumers can buy what they want to buy. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR THE FCC TO BE GETTING INVOLVED IN PRIVATE BUSINESS. No one is forcing people to sign a contract with a $350 etf, they can sign with another carrier or they can pay retail and not sign a contract at all.

That commercial does not say anything about not being able to get online. It says that Her 3G coverage keeps her out of touch. Why would you conclude that means that there is no coverage what so ever????? It simply is saying no 3G coverage.

I find it very interesting that ATT shows a "data" network map but when it comes to showing 3G coverage they just provide a list of cities with local maps and not a naionwide map. Saying you cover 75% of the population because you cover the major cities does not really matter. What matters is geographic coverage, when you cover 90% plus of the countries land mass let us know!

I would say that 7 out of 10 Storms I see in my store are not defective. They are either user error, or the customer has unrealistic expectatons about how the device should function, especially regarding touch screen response speed.

If you dont want or need the features than you dont want or need the phone. So guess what you dont have to pay for them. I guarentee that ATT will follow suit very shortly. They are doing it with the required PDA plans starting very soon.

What about the extension that they gave for the DTV conversion, this deadline was put in place 2 years earlier and still required an extension. I think that since they gave the extension the FCC should mandate that the converter boxes now cannot be sold for less than 250.00 and the extra 200.00 should go directly to the FCC, basically a penalty yo those who cold not meet a deadline that was set 2 years ago.

You do realize that the financials you posted are Verizon Comm, not Verizon Wireless, right? Also VZW did not want to lay off people, bu due to Circuit going out of business there was really little option.
