Right now I'm using a moto somethingorother that I HATE for various reasons, I've used LG's for so long now I'm so used to them and I really just LOVE the 8700. I went to Verizon yesterday and was told I could replace it for $50 w/another 8700, and that my NE2 is coming up in February (I already knew that) so I have the discount coming if I want to wait.

There's no reason you shouldn't get the $50 replacement. A Certified Replacement Unit LG VX8700 should be worth more than $50 on ebay even if you get a different phone

I'd stick with the VX8700. Best phone I every experienced with VZW.

I think that is the one they are phasing out? No, maybe not? Is it as thin as the 8700?

I used to have another LG that was similar in looks to this 8360 - but it was fat.

yeah it's the 8350 that is being phased out. the lg 8360 is a little thinner fits in my jeans small pocket with ease..but no it's not as flat razr like as your 8700. Great LG tho, they're the best for verizon IMO. Worth a look 🙂

I'll try to get a 'hands on' feel for it, but I think I already know that I'm just going to replace the 8700 w/another one and hang onto my NE2 until something new appeals to me.
Thank you for your input and help!

Smart move. If you liked the phone that much, a replacement will be just like getting a new phone and will give you an opportunity to wait for something else to come out when your NE2 comes due.

LG Decoy is a pretty awesome phone.

It has a built in bluetooth head set that charges with the phone.
