Looses or loses...
Verizon looses money or *loses money?
3G???
Am I reading this correctly, 3g? Are we talking REV. 0 or just 1xRTT?!
WOOT! Now my used phones will be worth more money!!!
The used cell phone market has been flooded with smartphones and high end feature phones! Why, you ask, it's simple: A bunch of "entrepeneurs" with decent credit were adding lines, getting crazy deals, and cancelling to make a profit by selling the phone on ebay/craigslist. Well, thanks to them, I have seen market prices plummet! Now that the incentive is gone, we won't see people cancelling for no reason other than profit. With less phones ...

Right, VZW will do it because they can get away with it, and others will follow. This is outright abuse. I can't believe these fanboi's buy into this crap. And what I just said holds true if AT&T or whomever pulls the same.
This is not abuse, it's a smart biz decision. If you let your customers walk all over you, I think we know where you will end up (Sprint)...lol. Seriously, do you ...

Yes these phones cost more, but they are also charging more for them. They are also making a decent profit on the data they charge for them.
Which is why they only make the subsidy back if you STAY with them, hence the ETF. High end phones have always cost at least $500, so for you to say that they are charging more now is baseless. I just don't get the feeling that you understand that ...

how is an etf greedy? do you SERIOUSLY think a company wants to collect it? VZW makes a smart business decision and everyone is up in arms, screaming "UNFAIR". The subsidy matches the ETF, what's the big deal? I gather that, since the wireless industry has been caught in a wait and see mode for some time now, it will not take long for the other Big Three (carriers) to follow suit.

I'm not upset that enterprising individuals abused the system for so long. I am also not upset with Verizon for slamming the door on them. Amen.
Huge Battery?
I recently got a sneak peek of this phone. The rep told me to take the battery out. It's MASSIVE :o , although not noticeable if you didn't know to look, it doesn't affect the phone's balance, it actually feels very nice in the hand). He told me that they put such a large one in to counteract the characteristically poor battery life associated with windows mobile 6.1 Standard phones like the Motorola Q Series.
The phone is brown, not maroon.
Sorry guys, had to call you on that. http://colorvisiontesting.com/online%20test.h tm

Re: Got to love Samsung
I beg to differ. My Sanyo M1 phone takes impressive pictures for a 2mp camera phone. Autofocus is the key :D
Katana-esque
Seriously...look 8O at the lines on the front of the phone and the hinge design, seems very much like a Sanyo Katana. Moto- are we re-vamping our razr lineup with cues from others, oh.. the tables have turned
Wow
8O Hope we get this in the Sacramento :D What a plan, its like the bundle offerings from att, but the bundle is all on your phone! If sprint went nationwide in this offering, in combination with their powerful music phones, it could take a lot of steam away from the iPhone release.
Any use of a wireless network is detrimental!
This petition is gonna be smacked down quicker than Ike hit Tina. Any device accessing a wireless network is detrimental to the wireless network because each device takes a tiny slice of spectrum. A skype phone phone would take a slice of the spectrum, therefore lessening the capacity of the network.
sacramento?
where's the rev. a love, verizon?! us left coasters want rev. a too. too bad, i guess sprint gets to keep my business for now.
Latest and Greatest?
Latest, yes. Greatest, no.
Re: Finally! The low quality of LG with the high price of Prada!
You get what you pay for.
Re: Just ordered my Q (sprint)
1. You should definateley spring for the $15 Power Vision pack that offers unlimited data usage. 2. Get a case as well, to keep it looking pretty. 3. You might wanna grab a mini-sd card of at least 512mb. I just got my Q three days ago, and I love it. Just like you wouldn't buy a car w/o wheels, get those accessories to get you rolling.
iFailure
I was watching CNN today, and they recapped what apple wants to accomplih with the iPhone. Steve Jobs wants to take 1% of the US market share. This equates to 10 million handsets. Apple sold an estimated 23.5 million ipods last year. Jobs seems a little over confident with his 10mil mark considering that the iPhone doesn't offer the storage that the ipods can offer. Let's be real here Jobs: a lot of people love your products, but ...
Re: cingy won: can vzw, sprint, or t-mo ever catch up?
what a marketing mind f***! cingular is so ambiguous with their marketing tactics! they keep changing their name, as if to run away from previous names and their reputations. its sickening, just like their coverage map(see Dictionary..look up ambiguous...you'll see a pic of cingy's coverage map), it shows coverage that you can only get with an old tdma handset! what confusion for the uninformed.
Re: Hopelessly Lost--Cingular SYNC/LG CU500/Samsung MM-A900M/LG VX8300
The sync is a rather large phone, i mean it dwarfs my sanyo mm9000, a large phone by todays standards. Try out that cingular network if you want to, but remember you have 14/30 days to return that crap when you realize what you got into.
WOW CINGULAR. JUST BECAUSE YOU MAKE IT DOESNT MEAN ILL BUY IT
Cingular has introduced a new way to screw it's customers. Less savvy parents will buy this for their kids and probably never realize that they are getting the screw. And what about data rates? Does the gift card cover the usage? Doubt it.
Re: Sprint already does this...
True true. All of the new phones come with recellular packaging. We also received additional boxes of prepaid envelopes for those wishing to donate.
Re: Actually, they would work with another carrier
LOL! the imei lock is useless! it doesn't block a phone from registering and making calls on the network. and you can only deactivate your own SIM card, you can't do anything with the one that Mr. Thief puts in your phone. and thx to cingular's policy of not insuring the high end phones they offer (the ones most targeted by theft), there is no incentive to register the IMEI with the carrier. CDMA is much more secure, and ...
Playing Music From Your Own Collection--Music Store app
I don't know what kind of folders the KRZR creates on the memory card, but if it is similar to my Sanyo 9000, you can put your files in the default Music Store folder and the Music Store will organize and play them.
Re: The design...
...but the speed of gprs/edge is no compare to the EVDO Rev. 0 platform... no hot spot necessary.
Re: 8400???
The only person you should trust is yourself.
Sprint
Sprint is launching Mobile to Home calling and Mobile to Office calling March 12. Each plan allows you to have unlimited calls to One phone number, Mobile to Home is $5,
Mobile to Office is $6.95
Prepaid Coverage
Keep in mind that most prepaid offerings DO NOT include ROAMING, so if you are looking into prepaid be sure to check the prepaid coverage, specifically for Cingular, as their Post-Paid coverage maps do not show where you are roaming.
Re: bluetooth question
True, some bluetooth headsets do not support voice dialing, though, so beware. But no doubt about it, you have to have a phone with voice dialing in order to use it through a headset.
Re: SIM cards suck
You can buy a sim card reader and software :) it makes life a whole lot easier when trying to manage sim data.
Re: Disney Mobile?
That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
Re: nextel or verizon????
Good idea...
Re: nextel or verizon????
True, Sprint's coverage area is as big if not bigger than verizon's. However, Sprint pays rent to many different companies (including verizon) to get that coverage. Verizon owns more network than Sprint, and you will see that if you compare coverage maps. Pay attention to the dark green areas of coverage on the Sprint map, this is what they actually own. And I certainly hope you don't listen to the hype that your company spits at you about how ...
Re: nextel or verizon????
You cannot possibly know how the Sprint Nextel merger will go, steve lvl. There is also no sign of a cdma/iden handset in the future. Also, if you examine the coverage maps, Sprint's cdma network has less coverage than nextel's in most places, meaning there will be little to no advantage for nextel users to roam cdma. The fact is, the networks are so different that it will be more complicated than the CingularAtt merger. All nextel users will ...
Re: Choppin Mp3s down to 10 sec..???
Try this out, I know it works with the later model motorolas with mp3 ringtone capability:
Go to walmart.com
-Select the music tab.
-Search for the Album that your song is on
-When you find it, go to that album's page and scroll down to song the previews for the album. They are in mp3 format and only 30 secs long.
-Right click on the link to the song preview.
-Copy the address shown in the properties window.
-Go to your carriers website and send a ...
Re: T-Mobile now offering the Moto RAZR on website
Oh I see 8) Right on, thanks for the info.
Re: Deutche Telecome selling T-Mobile USA?!
First of all, Cingular could not buy T-Mobile for the same reason Verizon cannot merge with Sprint, it is called a monopoly. If Cingular bought T-Mobile they would have a monopoly on the GSM market. Next, it is much cheaper to add new equipment to an existing tower than to build a new one. New towers cost anywhere from $700k to $2.5mil (source: my good friend builds cell towers).
T-Mobile now offering the Moto RAZR on website
Hey guys, just a heads up on this because I didn't see anything about it on the phonescoop home page. T-Mobile is now offering the RAZR on their website for $199.99 with new activation. :D
