Try this out, I know it works with the later model motorolas with mp3 ringtone capability:
Go to walmart.com
-Select the music tab.
-Search for the Album that your song is on
-When you find it, go to that album's page and scroll down to song the previews for the album. They are in mp3 format and only 30 secs long.
-Right click on the link to the song preview.
-Copy the address shown in the properties window.
-Go to your carriers website and send a text message with that link in it.
-When you get the text, open it, and use the function on your phone that allows you to go to the address in the text.
-The file should start to download :>

Well if you have a way to get the files on your phone, you can use a program called Audacity. You load your mp3 and then select which section of the song you want. You can even adjust the output so it sounds good on your phone. I have only ever paid for one ringtone and now my ringtone collection is only limited by my mp3 collection! You can get Audacity @ http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
