Why do customers do this..(stand alone stores)

Ok do some customers do not get the hint when we are closed. I am talking I have seen customers walk up to my store, lights off, open sign off, and the door is locked. They will see the lights off and everything and try to open the door. Then when it does not open they will try to look in to see if anyone is in there. The funniest are those who can not read. When you put a sign on the door that reads "Gone for lunch, be back in 5 mins." They will read the sign but still try to open the door as if I leave my door open for anyone. I know you payment locations have it bad.

You know they're lying when...

Trapped here all day (with our restricted Internet) I turn to this forums for my amusement...and I know I love reading other people's stories about idiotic behavior (both on the part of other reps and on the part of the customer) so I thought I'd share a couple more of my more memorable calls in telesales...

We get a lot of fraudulent callers, people who have stolen other people's credit information and are trying to order service using that information but some of them are more obvious than others. People must think we're stupid and won't notice but we have to pretend that we are and that we don't while on the call...the minute we hang up we fire off an e-mail to our fraud department so they can stop the order.

One of my all time fav...

Free Phone Syndrome Part II

The post you jsut made about this is probably the best post I have seen on this forum to date.

what pisses me off even more is when customers have their INSURANCE.

they think becasue its a cheapy phone and its small and insignificant that becasue THEY PAY INSURANCE.

DUH you idiot. ANY Property and casulty insurance requires a DEDUCTABLE amount. There is NO such thing of ANY Property and Casulty insurance that upon YOU damaging your insured item, they repalce it for free.

"Oh, but my phoen was free, why shjould i have tp pay for the deductable, is my phone not cheaper than the deductable?"

well you cheap f***, if you BUY the phone at regular price and pay activation together with it, you will pay 4 TIMES the amount.

Nokia 6255 problems?

For those of you that work with the Nokia 6255i, what reasons are they coming back to the stores? I have had 3 come back with the glass cover on the inside LCD coming out--glue around the edge, some with screens that change automatically, and some that overheat. When I mentioned it to my Nokia rep, she said they had not heard of any problems. Other than that, everyone I know that uses it raves about it.
Just wondering.

The absolute FUNNIEST thing I have ever seen in my store

At my store we have a gate in the middle of 2 big safety glass walls. Normally we have a sign up in front of them both. Today however, we took one of them down as we launched new promo's today and it did not apply. We were also yet to receive another sign to replace it. A customer came into the store and was screaming at one of my reps about the poor service he had received "Ever since i #$%^% singed up!" I was in the back room and heard the screaming and was coming out to rescue my rep. I opened the door just in time to see the guy throw his hands up in anger and start to storm out of the store when BAMB!!!! He walked straight into the glass HARD. Then he said "God Dammit!" In a not so masculine voice as he was yelling in, got up and kicked...

Katrina communications

I just got a text message from one of our customers who is stranded at the Hyatt in New Orleans.

His GSM phone is pulling Cingular signal. He has to wait on voice calls; but can text like crazy. So if you are trying to reach someone in that area...TEXT them.

Crooks

There was a post back in March that (in my bored wanderings I stumbled across and nearly wet myself laughing at) made me think of a story of my own... In retail you always get those little twits who just can't help but steal things, particularly anything small enough to fit in their pockets (like a phone or a display phone that they think is functional.) I actually had one when I was working at a book-store.

I was on register and just waiting for a customer and this young man walked out past me. I waved and said "Have a nice day." all perky like (because they told us we had to.) and hot on his heels was one of our stocking managers. She waited at the door (they were big glass doors you could see out of but not into) and watched him get...

Cingular Reps, a question for you!

Cingular Reps,

Today I applied to join Cingular's team as a retail rep because I love the wireless industry and I want a career in it.

I would like to know if the pay is somewhat decent and if you earn commission on a base salary? Plus do you have employee discounts on your Cingular service? I currently have T-Mobile but if I am hired by Cingular I am going to drop T-Mobile and join the largest GSM network in America. Can you all give me any info? Thank you all SOOO much!!! 😁

Independent Stores, whats the problem?

I work for an Independent Store. For the life of me I dont understand why the carriers are so mad at what we do. It started with Tmobile First not allowing us to activate OEM/non-tmobile phones in the begining of the month then changing policies to allow them mid-month. Then the following month not pay any commission on contract extensions. I thought its just Tmos way of saying we're a cheap ass carrier until....

Today 8/31/05 I find out from our master agent that Cingular isn't gonna pay any commission on any phones that are non-cingular (thats 1 day notice), and come Nov 1st we have to be exclusive Cing.

WHY? Is the question.

I guess they dont care about the little people that have rents to pay and mouths to feed.

Its bad eno...

Oh Dear God

I just had... incredible, I can't believe this crap. I am so stunned by the sheer stupidity of this caller that I can't think straight. He called us (in telesales) to order a new pre-paid kit...but of course doesn't have his own credit card...how does he expect to pay for this??? But that isn't what baffled and stuns me... I explained that I did in fact need a credit or debit card in his name or I would need to speak with the person who's name is on any card he might give me. He then proceeded to ask me if his boyfriend's card would work and I repeated that I would then need to speak with his boyfriend...then he asked if he could use his brother's card. I told him, a third time, that I would then need to speak with his brother. He paus...

How can I make you understand?

I just had a customer who has come into my store repeatedly over the last year concerning problems with her phone and account. Today, she came in because her new phone wasn't working right. Her brand new black V3 razr, that she bought at the mall. After providing someone with customer service for over a year, why would they purchase the phone somewhere else?

This stuff makes me mad, but it's also insulting. I've bent over backwards for some of these people. They'll come in and pick my brain clean for countless amounts of information, and then turn around and buy the phone from a retailer for $20 less. Apparently the service I provide isn't even worth $20.

If I could charge for CS, I would do it. Apparently going above and beyond...

Question for reps on service area....esp. US Cellular

Is there an advantage to setting up service out of a certain city or area?
I live in Illinois in the 217 area code(Springfield), and travel frequently to the university I represent in the 309 area code (Macomb)....about 90 miles away. Both cities are in my local calling area for US Cellular. Is it just a question of who would have to call me long-distance or is there more to it than that? I'm getting indications that there's more to it.
Thanks for any help/advice.

Customer Service

This post is for the last customer I had wanting me to show them how to set up their vm, while I was in the middle of a sale. I do not mind helping you set up your vm or any other cs issues, even though you didn't purchase your service from me or my company so my paycheck was not increased by you. However, I will not abandon a sale to a new customer who is paying me for my time to help you I am sorry you got upset and stormed through the mall looking like an idiot. My suggestion is go back to where you got the phone and ask that rep.(yes the one whose paycheck was increased by you) to show you how to set up your vm!
