Cingular has no free phones

This goes out to the CS reps who don't read these forums. Those that do, please pass on word to those around you who don't know. Don't send a customer into a store for a "free" phone on a "free" upgrade. If you're dying to get them off the phone at least tell them about the upgrade fee. If you have the time, check the prices for their market before just saying "yes we have free phones."

My market hasn't had a free phone in several months and I can't count the number of people referred by CS with this misinformation.

Unreal "Sup" Calls

So in our call center you have people who have taken a test and passed a number of other hurdles to become "mentors" which means that these people (myself included) are allowed to get off the phones for a little while (usually an hour or so) and wear a bright orange vest and walk around answering questions and taking "Sup" calls. It's a nice change from the norm but some of the Sup Calls get absolutely insane.

I've been yelled at by drunk people, chewed out by current customers who can't understand that the prices on the web site are for new activations ONLY, and called all sorts of not-so-nice names because I tell them the same exact thing that the rep before me told them.

As a rule however people tend to calm right down when they he...

Out of town

Why is everyone "going out of town tomorrow" when they com in to complain about thier phone?
"Yeah, my phone has been acting up for 2 months now and I need you to give me a new one now."
"I can't have it sent to me I'm leaving tomorrow."

Do they really think we buy that crap?

:( :0

I felt SO bad for this last cust, but there was nothing I could do...

he borrowed his wife's phone and their bill was 11 000$ The reason was because of Long distance usage, (but all within the US!!!!!) man oh man, if they were ONLY on a nation plan (they still would've had overage, but only like $500 compared to 11 000$) he didn't want any credit, just wanted to have that amount billed in his name...

offered a change of financial resp. but he wanted to keep the acct in his wife's name, but be billed that amount in his name to protect his wifes credit. unfortunately we couldn't do anything. I WISH he was in the re rate period. ☹️ so sad.

The Behavioral Interview

Anyone have any tips on behavioral interviews? I am so frustrated. Used to be we were promoted and moved to new positions based on past performance. I am having a problem getting new positions because I am not doing well with the behavioral interview. I would so appreciate any tips or advice.

I wanna know

why it seems like everyone in my call center is getting fired? I know of 4 people who were walked out of the building this week. I can understand letting people go when they never come to work, but i am told these people were let go bc they were not making their stats!!

IMO Cingular is getting rid of people anyway they can. I believe one reason is that they can save $ by paying a new hire much less than someone who has been around for a couple of years.

I am afraid for my job!! I don't always make my stats, but my quality scores are consistantly 100%. I don't care if the problem is solved in under 500 seconds as long as the problem gets solved, and Cingular shouldn't either. Obviously numbers mean more to the company than custom...

People just can't seem to listen.

I work in Telesales (pity me.) When we enter information for a new order we have to have a credit card or debit card (something with a major logo like Visa, Mastercard, AMEX or Discover) There is actually a whisper at the begining before they system. But they always act surprised when we tell them we'll need their credit card or debit card number...hearing them get all pissy about that is not unusual... but this woman was special even there.

We use the credit card to verify your billing adress, it helps prevent fraud. Because of this we have to have the billing address for the account that we are setting up match the one on the credit/debit card account. I always phrase my request for this information as "And what address do they send...

Stay where I am or go?!

Okay, here's the deal....I'm a blue Cingular employee, about a year, about five years before that w/ another wireless company.

Here's my delima; I've been offered a position w/ Sprint. I'm unsure about what to do...read below.

The problem: Should I stay or should I go? Working for my boss is...I can't even explain how bad it is. We've had four people (out of 5!) quit (in the last six months) and go to competition b/c of how she/he is. As a salesperson he/she is great, manager not so great. I've basically been doing many aspects of this person's job for the last year, and his/her bosses have recently found out. They come around about twice a month asking questions about our manager. I feel that if I do stay around I could get promoted,...

I"VE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER!!

ARG!! I hate it when people scream that. I had this woman who wanted to upgrade her husbands phone on her family share line.
Turns out that the account was in her husbands name. Therefore, for verification, I need his social security number, and not to menchon his signiture. (i'm verizon, we have electronic signiture pads) so she gets SOOO mad at me. I'm like miss, maybe if you called your husband and asked him if he could speak with me...

well thats out of the question, how could I possiblly even think to ask to speak with her husband! and she screams I"VE BEEN A LOYAL CUSTOMER YOU SHOULDN"T NEED ANY DAMN SOCIAL SECUIRTY NUMBER I"M GOING TO CINGULAR.

I asked "are you going to cancel your service?"
she said "YES"
I say "would you l...

To the customer service rep at Tmo I just talked to...

I'm a dealer. A customer was getting someone else's email alerts (ie text messages). She was furious...over three alerts...over fifteen cents. You told me we couldn't credit text messages. I know this is the general rule, but my week hasn't been good enough to hear this. I was nice and so were you but I still had to say "ok, well, you're going to have to tell her that" Then I passed the phone. I'm sorry. But today is just one of those days.

Thanks, you were a cool rep. And On the up side, she escalated within a minute

signal strength?

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of a reliable web-site which tells or measures specifically (& scientifically) the signal strength of each phone? Being in rural America, it would be nice to know which phone(s) gain the best reception! Thanks for any input on the matter.
