Tips for a new sales rep...

I am about to complete my first month as a Verizon rep for an Authorized Agent. I work in a mall kiosk location in Southeastern Mi. I've worked retail for the past 7 years but never commission based sales. Mainly corporate department stores where you are there to give directions.

NEways, I'm catching on to the product real well but I was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding closing sales and the like. I'm still very shaky in that department.

Also, if I end up enjoying this line of work I would like to move into a Corporate store within the next year. How hard are they to get into? What is the compensation and benefits like?

Thanks

Cingular cutting jobs

In the past 3 months i have noticed Cingular Wireless has closed down alot of direct stores as well as exclusive dealers (ie. all of PCS Division as of 8/12/05) and indirect agents. Cutting corners and costs to gain all that lost revenue from the AT&T aquisition seems to be the mission goal for Cingular right now. They never have had the best plans or phones, while the selection is nice it just doesnt match up to some competitors. I am in florida and am curious if this is a nationwide trend. If anyone knows please respond.

random rants from a Cingular Blue SST guy...

I'm at home now...recovering from my shift which seemed to be the worst ever...and im such a nice rep, i will never be rude to you on the phone, but behind that nice professional voice...this is what im thinking:

Who gives a f*** if you THOUGHT you were on a national plan, you're on a local plan from NY, and you went to Hawaii. Are you 5 years old? At least scan your invoice every now and then. Orrr can you read at all???

I'm not your accountant. I'm not gonna sit here and argue with you about why your bill is so high because it includes 2 months. You DIDN'T PAY last month, thats why it's so high. If you can't understand that SIMPLE fact, and if you can't keep track of your sh**, and i'm trying to be nice and help you out, don't g...

*snicker*

So I get a call from a cust who has been on the same plan since 2002. Well, I guess a year ago or so, she and her other half renewed and were both supposed to go on the same plan. well, the other day, they compare notes and discover he is on the plan they agreed to and she was on the next level up.

Can you guess what happened next? *G* She actually expected compensation(sp?) for the whole year that she was on that plan despite the fact that she was getting invoices where it was clearly marked what plan she was on. Her excuse for not calling in way back then to make the correction: "I'm on RCCB and don't pay attention to the invoices." 🤣

Needless to say, it went to my TL since there were no red hats around that time of nigh...

Company store vs Independant , compare ?

I am a Verizon customer. Professionally I help companies use VoIP over their data network to replace traditional PBX inside the building, not for home consumers. So, with introductions out of the way, here is my situation and question. (forgive me for butting in on the Shop Talk thread, but I want to get your views.)

What is the difference between working with an Independent reseller and a Verizon Company store? Are there different contractual levels for Verizon resellers (Gold, Silver, that kind of non-sense)?

I have always worked with the company store in the past. I am up for renewal and plan to add two more phones to my plan. Bottom line prices seem to be about the same, although they seem to use different math to arrive at th...

Hope they didn't moniter that one.

I really hope this last call doesn't get QAed...because I just lost it.

Keep in mind I've had a bad day, I'm cranky and trying not to let it show, I don't feel well and my patience is stretched to the breaking point...here is the result.

Kid calls in, he must be...maybe 12, says his dad has an account and that he and daddy want to find out about adding a line to the account for him (the kid.) So of I ask (because there have been many times when I have been wrong about the age of a caller at my first guess...) if the account is in his name. He responds that he and his father have the same name so yes the account is in his name (and I guess you could say it is...) But I try again. Is the account under your social security number? He...

Bluetooth trends and predictions?

I am a Verizon customer. Professionally I help companies use VoIP over their data network to replace traditional PBX inside the building, not for home consumers. So, with introductions out of the way, here is my situation and question. (forgive me for butting in on the Shop Talk thread, but I want to get your views.)

I am adding my two sons the my family plan. They have been using pay-as-you-go phones because their usage was so low. Now it makes sense to move them to the plan.

If they don't plan to use a wireless bluetooth ear piece right away (too costly), is bluetooth a feature worth including on the must have list? The blocked/unavailable features of transferring contacts (outlook users) ring tones, pictures, music back and forth wi...

Samsung V1660 or LG VI5225 By Sprint

I am thinking of starting my service with Sprint, and I want a flip phone. The Samsung V1660 and LG VI 5225 are the 2 flip phones they are offering for free.Which of the 2 is the better phone? I used to work for the wireless industry about 3 months ago,so I was kept up to date on the issues with phones and their strengths, but unfortunately,I have no clue about these 2 models. From working in the wireless industry I learned that LG phones are cute, but not reliable....reading the forums on Samsung phones I have learned that Samsung phones are reliable as well as cute...except they don't have speakerphone...which I really don't give a FF about...I want a good phone that won't let me down...OKAY...Can anybody help me out????? : 😕 😕 😕 😕

Definition of Customer Service

As of late, the entire paradigm of Cingular has shifted with regards to billing and crediting charges. Before this shift, if you went over your minutes, got charged for roaming/long distance, and disputing your final bill after porting out, customers would call in and we (CSRs) would tell them, too bad, pay your bill, etc. Even when a customer has escalated a call to a higher-up, they would defend our decision and quote policy to the customer explaining why the charges are valid.

Fast forward to today now. Cingular's customer service has been "branded" the worst in the industry from every which way imaginable. Now, the primary reason why customers complain about a wireless company and their "customer service" is related to the first pa...

Blue to Blue

Why do we have to transfer a CUP upgrade to the save team, or whomever this mysterious department is that never picks up the phone? I just spent 50 minutes try to get through, cx on hold the whole time, just destroying my stats and aggravating the customer to no end. And to top it all off, I didn't even get a hole of these people who must do the orders now, 50 minutes and nothing. The customer had to go, and will call back. Thats right, screwed my stats now he is gonna call back and screw yours, assuming your in care.

What is this madness!!?? I missed the last few days so I'm in the dark here. I have a few questions, if anyone knows the answers please respond.

#1 - I was told it was the Loyalty or Save team that these calls are b...
