What they want to hear:

Hello mr. Customer, my name is "I. Takeit" as you can see on my nametag. today we are having a special where you actually don't have to sign any sort of contract to get all of the same benefits of having a contract! Also, since you brought in this anonymous internet special that advertises the RAZR as free, we are going to honor it instead of charging you $200 like everyone else! Also, if you ever Drop your phone into water, or run over it with your car, or get mad at your boyfriend and destroy it, then feel free to bring it back here so we can replace it for you because it's our responsibility!

Oh, looks like your credit isn't that great so you'll need an $800 deposit, but that's not really important let me waive that for you! While ...

Store Reps - Please Understand!

I have a pet peeve that actually does not involve customers. It involves the people who work at our retail stores. I cannot even begin to express how much I hate... HATE hearing (after my "Thank you for calling XXX my name is Niki may I have your name please?") "Hi, I'm a dealer at the store."

There should honestly be no reason for a dealer at a store to call the Telesales department unless you are looking to set yourself up with a line of service through me.

I cannot help you with Watson, I've never used Watson, we use a totally different program. I do not have any access to customer info (and honestly when you dial in the whisper before you get transfered to me tells you that little tidbit.) I am not activations, so I can't help...

Outsourcing

No, it's not India anymore.

It's Argentina.

I too work as a rep for some kind of extended warranty from a U.S. electronics/appliances retailer.

We don't have restricted internet, but we are not meant to access any website that is not one from the list. The good thing is that one of these sites is phonescoop so I spend my available time reading these amusing forums. I don't think I will be posting from work because of all the hastle from Q.A. even recording our every action on the screen as well, but it doesn't mean that i can't post from home so here we are.

What I don't seem to understand is that quite a lot I read comments that intend to be offensive about offshore outsourcing. Good thing is that I've also found comments from p...

helpppppp i need help on what phone to buy

Hello, My name is Mike. I am looking for a phone for Verizon Wireless and i am seaking advice. My friend had a t-mobile sidekick that i was toying around with and i liked some of its options[ the AOL Instant Messenger, Internet(so I can easily mapquest directions at all times) and the mini keyboard that it has.] I was wondering if there is any phone with these three options for the verizon wireless service? If not all three most importantly the aol instant messanger and the keybored. Please e mail me back if you could a list of phones that do provide those axcessories. Or if its easier how do you know if a phone has AOL instant messanger. On most phones sites (even for t mobile) it doesnt list that is has AIM.

Thank you,
mike

Why do Customers do this?

Why do customers come into this forum? That just is odd to me... it says on the title that this forum (Shop Talk) is for employees of wireless providers. Now that doesn't mean that people who aren't employees absolutely can't come in but what baffles me is when a customer comes in and posts a question about "I want to get this sort of deal and I think I'm entitled, how would you lot advise getting it? Who should I threaten?"

You'd think they'd read some of the other things on the forum and realize how we generally feel about that sort of question but they don't. If you want to ask something like that you should be in the forum for a given carrier or anyplace else, because this is our place to vent, not tell you how to hose us some mor...

After a customer says this, they should be asked to leave

1) FIX my phone!

2) can you charge my phone while i shop ( yes sometimes i do it depending on how they ask. if they are jerks about it i tell them we can not)

3)( while looking at TMOBILE PHONES at a kiosk that sells multiple carriers, and all phones are labled and organized by carrier) Are these the only SPRINT phones you have?

4) wheres the XX(competitors)XX store?

5) do you have a chrager for my phone? . .(without bringing the phone)

6)**this really bothers me*** the customer is looking at the phones, i ask if they have any questions about the phones
they reply "yes, do you carry THIS phone?" as they pull some phone from japan that we do not carry.
"no sir" i reply
"ohh well i got it from japan, and there are only XX nu...

Five ways you can tell a cust shouldn't have a cell phone

1) They ask how to turn it on?
2) They ask when their screen is blank did you turn my phone off?
3) When they say "Which button do i press to make it go?"
4) Why am i being charged for service? I didn't even use the phone"
5)They say "my phone isn't working its all blank when i push the power button on it does nothing. You kindly say "Have ya charged the batterly lately?" They reply "I have to charge it?"

Pet Peeves from a insurance agent.....

1- Why do I need to pay a deductible???
(what I would love to say: "because I don't like you and I want you to cry)... Actually moron JUST LIKE your car/home insurance. YOU pay a monthly premium for coverage but when you have to file a claim you pay a deductible.

2- Can I get an upgrade on my phone even if I pay extra?
NO! We don't sell phones, we REPLACE Phones, we can only replace phone that was insured at time of loss. so if you had a nokia 5160 (dinosaur phone) that's exactly what you'll get if its available, unless we are out of stock we won't change the model.

3- Why do I need to pay for a police report?
Because you are filing a LEGAL insurance claim with the insurance company and we are regulated by terms and conditio...

Numbers >.

Numbers are everywhere in our type of job...agent number, model number, social security number, phone number, address... and people make it even more difficult.

It's bad enough that the connection you're calling me on sounds worse than a early 90's 'cellular phone' but let's exacerbate the situation by being lazy when you read me you numbers.

Instead of One Seven it's Senteen

Five Three becomes Fidytree

I had one who read the number 1770 not as One Seven Seven Zero but Senteensendy

Even when they enunciate clearly and say Seventeen it can be confusing and if the con is bad it's even worse, I just wish people would say one number at a time...then maybe they wouldn't have to get all mad because I have to ask them to repeat thems...

Identity theft and SS numbers online

Anyone know if there is a wireless carrier that doesn't require a SS number for signing up? I just got a call at my store and this "nice" (yeah, sarcasm, it's an industry standard) lady explains that she was signing up online (of course, thus going the less expensive way...save that 20 bucks people and hope your phone doesn't come in 18 pieces) and it was asking for her SS number, which of course she doesn't want to give out. She asked me if we required the same thing. Yeah, we need your SS number to do a credit check, no, I don't know who would give you a phone without that. She than explained that she wouldn't give her CC number and her SS number online (apparently she's unaware of people just stealing CC numbers online or she just doe...

Me: thank you for calling XXXX how may I help you?

Man: Yes. I have a question. My number is 518 XXX XXXX

Me: ...Okay, what can i help you with?

Man: well when i come home from mountain i make calls after 4 PM and they charge me for it

MOTO KROKR

We've had our demo unit set up for a couple of weeks now and one of my co-workers brought laptop in so we could load 100 lol songs on it. Out of the 4 gigs of music he has on his computer (all of which are on his i-pod as well) the ROKR accepted 8! And, they had to be duplicated! On the phone and a playlist! lol I don't know why I expected anything else.

Anyone had better luck?

You expect me to know that!!??

Me: "We'll be shipping your phone out, and a signature is required upon delivery. What address would you like it sent to?"

Customer: "I won't be home. Can you send it to my job?"

Me: "Yes, we can. Where do you work."

Customer: "XYZ Company."

Me: "And the address there?"

Customer: "It's in XYZ Town. I don't know the street or nothing."

Me: "We do need that information to get the phone shipped out. Do you have a phone book nearby?"

Customer: "Why can't you just put the name of the business down? They'll find it."

Me: "Our shipper won't accept the package without a valid street address or ZIP code."

Customer: "Why do you guys make things so hard?"

Wait what? Are you kidding? Dumb questions.

You know how people always say 'there's no such thing as a stupid question.'? People are wrong. There are stupid questions and I just had a real winner of one.

"My wife was interested in the regional coverage plan but she wanted to know if that could be made to have no roaming or long distance charges." What is the definition of 'regional'? Oh that's right, it's CONFINED TO A GIVEN REGION. You want something that has no roaming or long distance? Get a national plan.

God Save us from the stupid people.
