Blind Customer...Need some help

So I have a blind customer that is looking for a phone that is easier to use. Her new husband has service through Alltel and she wished to add to his plan. She is looking for her phone to:

Read txt's
Read numbers as they're pushed
Read menu and option titles

Any body know of a phone, especially if it is Alltel compatible?

Why would he do this? (long)

The other day I had a customer call in about his phone not working. Going through the ts and everything to find out that there's physical damage on his phone. No insurance and not upgrade eligible for a while.

I tell the customer it would probably be best if he looked into purchasing a new device at full retail because otherwise if we completed an oow exchange it'll cost him 374 bucks.

He calls his dad, the account holder, and I can hear him talking it over in the background with him. He comes back and says that he'll do the oow exchange. 😳 I don't think I heard him right. I asked and he said yeah that he'll do the exchange. I informed him that he would be getting the most for his money if he looked into purchasing a new device as the...

Delusion much?

A guy and his girlfriend come in this morning. He has a Samsung slider phone with a broken screen (LCD is cracked right down the middle). He says he JUST got this phone back in April and now it's broken.

I asked him if he had insurance. He said no.

He then looked at his girlfriend and said, "Remember when Cingular would give you free replacements?"

"Yeah," she replies.

"And their service just sucks now, too."

I smiled and looked at them. I don't claim to be an expert in social engineering or anything, but these guys almost made me laugh.

I imagined in my head the rest of the conversation:

ME: "Wow? Did Cingular give you free phones everytime you break yours without the need of insurance? I'll go ahead and do that to...

Pen Tinkering

So my co-worker takes all the click pens apart and puts them back together, don't know why, but he gets the parts mixed up and they don't work right...

I usually fix them, sadly I can tell which spring goes in which one just by color now, but today I don't think I am going to. Today I am going to leave them, and watch customers fumble over the pens.

Tis the season....

to steal. So far during this holiday season we've have all 3 of our G1 demos stolen. Now we don't have a live demo for our customers. This mall is filled with no good punk ass kids. I know times are tight but parents need to be parents and beat their kids. If not I'll be happy to do it for them. 😈

Not allowed to txt message while on the clock

I could see if we were a busy chain like walmart or maybe even a regualar retailer. My bosses just sent down an email saying no personal phone calls or txt messaging while on the clock. It not like we are ignoring the customers when they come in. If they ever come in? Is this a standerd thing or is it just them over reacting.

Great call of the week

πŸ™„

A customer was transfered to my line and heard my Spanish greeting. I am guessing that she selected the "Spanish" option. Here is what ensued.

Caller: "Why the &^%$ are you talking to me in Spanish???

Me: "I'm happy to speak English to you. How can I help you?

Caller: "This is an English company you better speak English."

Me: "OK, that's fine we speak English. I'll be happy to help you with your service today."

Caller: (screaming) am an AMERICAN!!! Do you have any idea how it makes me feel for you to speak Mexican to me? Your company shouldn't even hire Mexicans!!!!"

(keep in mind that I speak English with a western US accent)

Me: silence is golden. She is beneath my dignity and I am not going to explain to h...

good or bad?

i'm not sure whether having someone from your past come into your store and not remember let alone, not recognize you is a good or a bad thing.

i work at a store that's about 1/2 hr away from my house, i don't know anyone in this area... but last night an ex of mine from like 6 years ago came into my store asking about exchanges.

keep in mind, i have talked to him since we last broke up, actually the last time we talked was about 8 months ago when i was still pregnant with my daughter. ...nothing really has changed about me except i don't have this ginormous belly anymore, and my hair is a darker color instead of its usual blonde..
and that f*cker didn't even recognize me or anything..

so i dont know if this is a good thing or a ba...

My mother is the little old lady

My brother provided a T-Mobile phone service for my parents reently. My mother and father are 86 years old and never had a cell phone. They live in Florida and their sons live in other states.

T-mobile owes me a big thank you for not having to deal with my mother! Hours upon hours of trying to explain to her how the phone works (I have never even seen the phone but looked up the manual.

A recent funny story is that she thought she could not call my brother on his cell phone from her land line (her cell phone needed charging). My mother often confuses the reception strength indicator and the battery indicator and navigating the menu is always a challenge.

Funny stories abound with new technologies and my mother including fax m...

Top Ten Things You Don't Say In A Cell Phone Store (Kinda Long)

From a Cell phone Rep's Perspective, DonΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’t be one of these people....

#10...But my bill says Sprint now......Ok genius...you signed up with Nextel, you have been billed by Nextel for years, your phone says Nextel on the outside. The only thing that has changed in your world is the logo on your bill. Let me put it into perspective...If you buy a box of Frosted Flakes, and your wife puts a picture of the Lucky Charms guy on the box, does the contents inside magically change into pink hearts and yellow moon marshmallows? Convert over or deal with the reality that you signed up with the wrong team.

#9...Best Buy sells the RAZR cheaper....Its called a promotion. Their reps are hourly employees which means no commission is paid out. Bes...

Rookie Co-workers

In our company we have a family atmosphere. We feed off of each other while on the floor, and go out for some drinks every once in a while. But sometimes we'll get someone new who we want to drown in a large pile of cake batter.

I've only been here for 3 hours today and 3 times already this newbie keeps interrupting my sales and starting casual conversations with my customers. Does anyone else experience this?

Conditioning Lithium Ion batteries??!? Rich...?

Okay, I've noticed that instruction manuals with new cell phones still say that batteries should be fully discharged the first time before charging, and sales reps at retail locations are telling people that also. The problem is that all wireless phones use lithium ion batteries now, and one of the advantages of them is supposed to be that there IS no memory effect requiring this. I also sell digital cameras, many of which use similar lithium ion batteries, and you will never see a word about discharging them fully the first time. What is the truth here? Why are people still saying that these batteries must be conditioned the first time? Is this just because it has been the mindset for so long? I'm dying to understand this.

a note for the female customers out there

now I'm not opposed to seeing the occasional vaj on a girl's phone once in a while, or even other pics of the rest of her.

BUT...

have a little class and humility if you're going to do that and take it to a store for someone to look at. If your face looks like the surface of the moon, or has more pits than a piece of KFC, please don't make your screensaver a slide show of your various body parts. But I didn't mind too much the one where there was no possible way it wasn't a girlfriend there with her... πŸ™‚

What do you guys think...

Do you think it would be "cry-baby" of someone to report their co-workers for being rude/ inconsiderate/ disrespectful?

It says in the employee handbook that you have to be respectful and considerate of everyone you work with....

I want other peoples opinions on this before I take any action.

there are two stores in our chain that are in this town. my store was opened a few months ago, the other store has been there for two years.

for the second time in a week, Steve is called over to the Auburn store. last time he was called over there it was to help a busy store for a little while.

instead, he goes over there and leaves me ALONE in my store (which was CRAMMED full of customers) for FIVE HOURS.
(and i honestly don't think the other store was THAT busy cuz that night i pulled up the cash sheet for both stores, and mine was ...

Wet Phone

I had this customer come in yesterday and she was saying how her screen is all messed up and shes only had the phone for 2 days. So i take a look at it and checked the water mark on thew back. As i pull off the battery their is water in the phone. So I told her that this phone has been dropped in a large amount of water and that is going to be the reason for her phone not working properly. Than she tells me that it has never been dropped in water. As I show her the water in the phone and the mark she copntinues to tell me that it has never been in water. I cant tell you how many people have said "My phone has never been in water" but the water mark is clearly red, not just a slight pink but RED. Anyone have any good stories about that...
