phone Slapping and smoking
Is anyone here a phone Slapper? I mean when you have a flip phone and you shut it, you slap it shut. I see people do it all the time and wonder if the phone has a shorter life because of it. Someone I work with slaps the phone shut, and in fact seems to really take pleasure in it, and she wonders why the screen goes out and stuff doesn't work.

I use it to transfer music, pics, and videos between the PC and the phone. i can store other files on there, too, as some sort of jump drive - the files just don't appear on the phone.
Also, the card fits in the HP PSC1610's memory reader, so i don't need a separate reader.
Amazon.com sells the 512MB one for the same price as Best Buy's 256MB one.

Well i was a motorola guy until LG beat them to the picture phone business. I had a Brick phone, MicroTAC, 3 startacs, and a jazz pager.
mp3's and music videos?
hey - I have the LG VX 8100. I was just wondering if people have figured out how to get mp3's and mpeg videos to play on the phone. Also, are there any major issues with the phone's functions? One of my friends is trying to decide which one to get.

zoom view is good for this: if you see a sign somewhere that you want to be able to read later, you can zoom in on the print. if the print size is too small, it will be fuzzy, but it is a huge difference over the VX 6000's resolution

ok with the stereo headseat? is there supposed to be a certain way to position it? one bud's cord is longer than the other, and I can never get that microphone to stay facing out.

I don't think it's attractive at all. Motorola seems to be building a niche in the superthin-phone market though so good for them.
Voice privacy and auto volume
Does anyone know what these settings do and do they really work?
voice privacy: enhanced/standard
auto volume: on/off
I've tried seemingly every combination of those settings and am clueless as to the ideal setting.

Customer service is stupid. that card will work. i have the 256MB, but the other one should work. i didn't do anything special to format the thing either.

what kind of computer do you have? what operating system? and what kind of reader/writer? Mine came with a drivers CD that I guess is to be used if you don't have XP or something like that. I think I put the card into the phone first, moved some files to it, and when I plugged the reader into my computer it automatically found that and didn't need any drivers, and then I took the mini ...

ok I can't remember where the post was or who did it at the moment, but i think it was under a "how do you convert mpeg to 3g2?". Anyway there's a program called Supersomething that you download - the post had the attributes that you need to convert a file. yeah I saw someone do the same thing. they don't know what they are talking about so they make it up as they go. i had a greeter not KNOW that a new motorola was out. apparently the training for greeters is limited to clipboards 101. no 8100 display either. actual verizon store too - not Bob's phones and pagers.
HP PSC1350 and the MiniSD
I don't know if anyone has tried this yet, but I just remembered my printer/scanner/copier has an SD slot, and it shows up in my computer as an external hard drive, so if you have this, you may not need the Card reader/writer.

yeah - i've given up on the front button thing for now. i've been able to convert mpg files into 3gp?, mp3's into "my sounds", email pictures without paying $.25 each and transfer everything back and forth to the computer. the first couple days I was holding the phone up to the speakers for songs and the TV for video. i like the ZOOM function on the PIX too btw. well i can help you with HUGE photos, full-length music videos, and songs, but i'm out of ideas on the ringtones. if they had really good ones, I MIGHT be willing to pay $1 once.

Mine are exactly the same as that. i haven't had any pictures disappear permanently, but i am having some of the volume issues and there was one point where I could see the thumbnial pics but not the regular ones. i powered off and on and it seems to be fine now but i am still nervous about it.

I kept rainforest, just to have a standard "control group" sound, if you will. I put some long names on the songs and they worked too. if it's too long for one line it scrolls to the next line when you highlight it.

i renamed my mp3's to *.mid. I also had to make sure the files were in the My_sounds folder on the card.
