QUESTION ON UPGRADING....

i got the vx8000 in feburary, when it first came out. i have no complaints with it. but about two weeks ago i was on my boat and it must have got wet. it started not to say "charge complete" it just says charging for days. the battery last's less then a day. the front buttons don't work anymore, and a couple of other things. my main question is if i can use the insurence to get a new phone, but instead of getting the 8000, get the 8100 instead.

also, how is the phone, did they fix the mp3 player, and overall how good of a phone is it.

thanks

The insurance company will not upgrade your phone unless they don't have the model you had or one with comparable features. The 8100 would not be the replacement for the 8000 even in that case. You would likely get the CDM8940.

just take the battery off, dry it off, then take it into a verizon store and pretend you don't know what happened. shrug your shoulders, get angry, and plan to spend ALL DAY taking up someone's time. = )

Drying off the battery won't change anything. If it's been wet there's indicators on the battery and in the phone. Even if a warranty exchange were permitted, it would be the same situation as with the insurance company... No 8100 in your future

After the first time of someone telling you no, they'll see you're just trying to waste their time and have you kicked out of the store. You might even work your way up to getting a letter stating that you may only contact Verizon via writing due to harassment of employees.

Nobody wants to help a problem customer. Especially one commiting fraud.

whatever happened with that class-action settlement where Verizon was overcharging 30 million customers?

and what's with selling phones with mp3 players that don't work? i saw someone using a little fraud of their own today trying to sell someone a phone talking up the mp3 player. he forgot to mention having to rename music files, and the inability to use buttons on the phone that CLEARLY are for music files.

honesty goes both ways

just describing examples of people I've seen in the store, in addition to people coming in and asking "what's roaming", how come my phone loses it's charge, etc...

btw hiring tip for the branches: if a new phone comes out, the clipboard person should know about it instead of making something up.

If you want my advice-- keep the 8000, I "upgraded" to the 8100 for the bluetooth and have noticed nothing but static on it. Also the "disco" lights are not very professional looking (I'm going to find some blue or silver tape and an exacto knife this afternoon).

You can also set your own ringtones on the 8000 which in not something the 8100 does and now I have to do the same mod everyone else here did to get thier own ringtones.

That lawsuit ended a while ago. All those customers got $0.02 back. Big win.

I thought we were all supposed to get a free ear bud - oh Well I thought it was a stupid lawsuit anyway. Like Apple users saying their monitors were 1/2" smaller than the box says.
