Esp. for Mary and Wheresmyphone: I LOVE this phone (& this forum)

When I received my 8100 last Wednesday, I was scared to activate it after reading of all the troubles some people had with it. But on Friday I did, and so far--great! Yesterday I purchased a mini SD card and adapter for my laptop. Today I was so frustrated because I couldn't seem to get the music to work. But, Mary, thanks to your great directions (which I re-reread), I discovered that I was trying to copy rather than drag the files. Well, guess what? Now I am happily listening to my Dave Matthews and Coldplay while I grade papers and play on Internet--listening through my phone. And they (the music, not the papers, sadly 🙄 ) sound unbelievably good!!!!!
Thank you guys so much for answering my questions and assuring me that I ...

yeah - i've given up on the front button thing for now. i've been able to convert mpg files into 3gp?, mp3's into "my sounds", email pictures without paying $.25 each and transfer everything back and forth to the computer. the first couple days I was holding the phone up to the speakers for songs and the TV for video. i like the ZOOM function on the PIX too btw. I can take a picture of something on a bulletin board or whatever and read the details later.

prof - have you been able to watch music videos on it yet? it's sweet when you see a nice 4 minute music video and can switch back and forth to widescreen

ok I can't remember where the post was or who did it at the moment, but i think it was under a "how do you convert mpeg to 3g2?". Anyway there's a program called Supersomething that you download - the post had the attributes that you need to convert a file. Once you have the mpeg file (i think you can convert most other types too but I haven't tried yet), open the "super" program, click the correct options, right click to find a file to convert, then click on "Encode now". it doesn't take very long... then find the new file, clean up the filename if needed, copy it to the MY_FLIX folder, then put it in the phone and go to my flix. I have a 10MB No Doubt video on there now and it looks INCREDIBLE. i may need a bigger card soon. hopefull...

I tried 10 videos to put on my card and only 1 worked. The other 9 I put on my SD card didn't even show up on "my flix" and therefore I could not play it. Its odd that 1 of them worked. But if anyone has any suggestions on how else to get them on my phone, post up! Thanks 🙄

1. You have to convert your video to .3gp format (I use this free program with the following parameters)

The link for the free conversion software is below

http://fever.link.free.fr/SUPER.html »

The video format should be as follows:

Video: Size 176x144, FPS 15, bitrate 140, HQ

Audio: sampling 22050, channels 2, bitrate 64

2. Save it to your pc and email it to your phone (XXXXXXXXXX@vzwpix.com) - you may have to try this a few times until you have full signal on your phone

3. Save the attached video

4. Got to My Flix and play

5. Viola!

PS - You can also use the videos as wallpaper on the front/main screen
