Motorola E815 / E816 Hollywood

.. Hey i was wondering if anybody knew if the mew cellphone cases that come with the magnets harm the phone in

Well, I did it. I bought the E815 on Dec 19th, and so far am quite impressed with it. I first charged the batteries (for both E815's) on Mon the 19th, and when I recharged the batteries on Sat the 24th, I still had the 3 bars on the battery status indicator. Neat. Granted I did not do a lot of calling, so most of the time the phone was on in stand-by mode, but still it was a heck of a lot better than my old phone.

I do have a question however.

If I were to upgrade my Palm PDA to a newer model that has built-in Bluetooth, would I be able to select a contact/adress in my Palm and have the Palm automatically dial the phone number on the E815 using Bluetooth? Anyone, anyone...

I can't successfully get mp3 files copied to e815 by using MPT(v3.2😎, so I am thinking of copy files directly to transflash thru card reader? will this works? p.s. I am able to use MPT sync up calendar and address no problem, but every time trying to copy the mp3 files, it get disconnect after few seconds. Thanks!

I'm about to go get my third E815. At ~3 month intervals, the Vcast, Mobile Web and GIN just stop working. Test phones activated on my number are fine, so its the handset. Firmware is the latest version and the voice side is fine.

It may be just easier to forget the data features altogether. It wastes 3 - 4 hours between calls to/from data tech support and waiting at the servoce center each time this has happened. Right now its an inconvenience, but once the warranty is up, I'll be having to buy a new handset. (3 month phones on 2 year plans, anyone?)

Is this turning out to be a problem with this model?

I have read the forums about hacking new skins for this phone. Is there any other way of doing it. I am a little leery about hacking my phone seeing that I have never done it.

When purchasing the E815, Verizon (or its reps) offers 2 types of phone insurance: Extended Warranty for $2/month and Total Equipment Coverage for $6 (includes the Extended Warranty plus 'If your phone or accessories are inoperable for any reason—lost, stolen, damaged or malfunctioning—you can be covered.' NOTE the phrase 'can be covered'.

Since I am in the process of buying 2 phones, that works out to $120/year for the Total coverage for both phones.

Is there a strong sentiment as to which approach is better - self insuring or purchasing one of the warrantees? If warranty, which one?

I am looking for anyone who has just bought this phone. What is the build #? I have a E815, that I purchased in August. I have always had the echoing issue in the earpiece. There was a software update that came out 2-3 weeks ago, but it did not fix the echo. I have the chance to either exchange the phone for any other phone Verizon sells right now, or just get a new E815. None of the new phones, even compete with the E815. I was waiting for the Razor, but I will pass. Please tell me if you have had this issue or any others.

What is going on with VERIZON? The price of the e815 was 149 after rebate then it changed to 99. Today I look and it's back up at the price of $149 after rebate. What is going on? I am awaiting the RAZR to see if I want to buy the RAZR or e815, but now that the price is back up on the e815, I may as well wait for the razr. Any thoughts???

I know there have been numerous large threads on the MP3 player. I got my phone about 3 weeks ago and picked up a TF card and card reader. It uploads some songs fine. The problem is, it missed about 3 out of every 5 songs I try to put on the TF card. Any solutions?

Just curious if any of you 815 users have had problems with your voice dialing button (right side under the camera button) not working.

I have a customer with one that suddenly quit working. When the button was pressed it did make the kepress sound, so I don't think its mechanical failure, and holding it in does correctly activate the recording feature.

Anyways, we replaced the phone with another 815 and the same thing happened. Spoke with our VZ tech support and even called Moto, no help at all. So we are replacing the phone again.

Anyone else seen this issue?

I'm planning on getting this phone on the 22nd but I was wondering, I have some ringtones, can I install them through cable with this phone? I know I also have to get the phone tools software.

I know you can create a play-list on this phone but what good does that do when you have to manually press the track forward button. Please tell me if there is a way. "Auto-replay" only replays the current track over and over again. Very useful when you want to get sick of a song quickly. Any ideas? Any word of MP3 player upgrades from Motorola or VZW?

Amazon has the E815 for $25 with a 2-yr contract, and Verizon wants $150 (after rebates for both). Big difference. Need 2 phones.

What are disadvantages/advantages for buying the phone from one or the other?

Would the biggest advantage for paying the extra money and buying the phones from Verizon be if I need to return the phones numerous times in order to get one that works properly?
