Sounds like what you are looking for is a Nextel walkie-talkie, sorry the 815 is not a walkie-talkie, it is a cell phone and will not operate like a Nextel.

It don' have to be a walkie-talkie or on Nextel to do that.

On my Verizon Nokia 6256, you can answer a call usin' the speakerphone with the flip closed. I'm sure a few other phones (non-PTT) can do that as well, tho' I don' know about the 815 since I don' have one.

yes, you can. The speaker needs to be on already in closed position. YOu can then answer it by pushing the side button down on the left hand side. (the button that has one)

Hope this helps, tyou can do the same to disconect

I had asked a Verizon rep this question and they told me you cannot turn it on with it closed. You must open it then after that, you can answer calls and disconnect calls by hitting the speakerphone key on the side of the phone with the flip closed. I have played and played with it and cannot turn it on without opening it. Guess the Verizon rep was right.

The rep doesn't seem ta be too familiar wit' this phone.. 'cause he's wrong. ☚ī¸

I own a 6256, an' trust me, you CAN answer calls with the speakerphone with the flip CLOSED. Call comes in, you just hold the button on the right side of the flip for a second or two. The 6256 will switch to speakerphone and you can talk, all WITHOUT ever opening the flip.

I use this feature all the time. 🙂

Oops.. my apologies. I was jumpin' between the 6256 an' 815 forums.

You can do this with the 6256, you apparently can't wit' the 815. My bad.
