Best conversation with customer in weeks

This high school kid was with his family at the Qwest kiosk a while ago and he decided to come look at our phones. He pointed at the RAZR...here's the conversation:

M: How's it going? Can I help you out with anything?

C: How much are these?

M: Are you wanting to sign up for new service with us or are you looking to buy the phone outright?

C: ................

M: Are you wanting to sign up for new service with us or are you looking to buy the phone outright?

C: (shakes head)

M: Neither?

C: (shakes head)

M: So....you actually don't care at all how much they cost?

C: (nods head)

M: Good.

Yeah so this is a rant...

It's a rant and I'm proud to admit it. You know... it's been three months since midwest customer care was closed in my call center, and I was transfered over to Port Center.

Nothing really has made me hate a service provider this much.. not even in customer care...

Yeah so heres the sitch. Customer calls in, has a porting issue, basically Sprint, doesn't recognize that we've cancelled the port rqsts. Their systems are seeing something completely different than what we're seeing. But the horrible part is, they keep hanging up on me, and number two, "Oh we have to send a message through our systems to our tier two department for a trouble ticket, and they'll fix the issue within 2-3 buisness days..."
That was yesterday.
The port reque...

Life stinks sometimes

Hi all,

Ok so... I am the manager of an Indirect Cingular store. The owners of the company have six stores throughout the city. My store happens to be one of the busiest. Before December we all had the same hours; 10-7 mon-sat, sun-closed. 🙂

For December they gave us new Holiday hours mon-sat 10-8, sun 1-6. I didnt like it but what can you do? It was only a month

Now everyone has gone back to the normal hours except my store and the other Busy store 👿 . So that means that I always have work 10-8 😡 , and we are still open on Sundays. WTF 👿 ?? I dont know what to do! I hate these new hours and I have to work Sundays now!! Any advise??

Today's winner is...

c: Yeah, I want a Blackberry.
m: *gets cell #/verifies custy* Ma'am, are you aware there's a past due balance of (insert three-figure amount here) on your account?
c: Oh.
m: 🙄
*crickets*
m: Well, until that amount is brought current, we wouldn't be able to upgrade your phone.
c: Well tell me this...they're 39.95, right?
m: 😳 No, they're (insert three-figure amount nearly equal to what customer owes us)
c: Why they so high?
m: 😡 🙄 The retail price on those is nearly five hundred dollars, ma'am.

Calling Customer Care

So this was me as a customer but it was pretty wicked so I figured I'd share.

I was balancing my check book and pulled out my phone to get the amount due (there's a feature that will let you check that off the handset) because I have paperless billing (largely because I never actually look at the paper ones and I have the on line account if I need to get in and see anything.) But I noticed that my bill was a tad higher than normal and as I was not at a computer but in my car waiting for my boyfriend to meet me I figured I'd call care instead and find out why. I was mildly concerned because I had tried to download a couple of games recently and the downloads had failed, I just wanted to be sure I wasn't getting charged for them.

So I ...

A Case Study: How Your Ex's Are Like Your Customers

In all my experiences with customers, I've noticed one disturbing trend. All of my customers are like my ex's. They tend to lie, generally have bad credit, and try to blame me for all their problems.

Why does this happen?

In fact, I can draw upon my reserves as a salesman to get out of any relationship situation.

Because anything bad that happens is somehow, inexcusably, my own fault.

Nothing I can say will ever cure the situation, and generally, a fake apology will do wonders to cure any situation.

My ex's always ask for more. And all of my customers expect the same. They want something for nothing, and always believe that I'm just arounf to do them a favor.

No matter how nice I am, nice can always be perc ...

ATTN S13Drifttx!!!!! READ READ READ.

I read your display name, and need to talk cars with you.

I.E.

I'm in North Carolina but I'm looking for a Texas car, because NC cars have tons of salt and sand issues because of the mountains where I am.

My last S13 (RIP) burned to a crisp due to some fuel issues and a giant hole in engine block. (In case of turbo explosion, exit vehicle, and keep warm by the fire.)

If you know of anyone who wants to sell an S13, or S14 in the Texas area, please reply to this. I'd rather buy from an enthusiast than from some idiot on some 240 message board. (And I'll pay to ship from Texas... I'm just getting tired of driving my slow ass commuter Mazda Protege. It's nice, but boring.)

(An 86 Corolla would be nice too - if you know of one with...

5 minutes into the first day of the new year

And a customer comes in wanting to move a single line of their account from his name to his wifes. I explain we can't do that in store but there if they call CC it can be done quite easily. Customer insists on trying to do it in store regardless of the fact i say i can't do it. He then decideds instead of call this simple number and going throught this simple prossess he is going to call and threaten to cancle service and reopen else where. I just don't understand the logic! Idiots!

Where is Child Protective Services when you need them?

I'm all for more ass-whippings when it comes to bratty children, but I just saw a dad smack his maybe 2 year old son in the face just because he tried to stand up in his stroller. The mom didn't seem to give a crap but you know if I had said, "hey, nice parenting!" like I wanted to, they would have been all over me.

Don't get me started on the people who let their toddlers wander a good twenty feet in front of them or behind them. Way to get your kid trampled or kidnapped!

OFFICIAL CUSTOMER COUNT THREAD

Put the hours you've been open, the number of customers you've had today and the amount of actually sales in the subject line of your replies:

ie: We have been open for three hours, we have had two customers and 1 sale (accesories).

So mine would say 3:2:$30 in access.

D'oh

I just realized I sent someone home with an unprogrammed phone. Damn. I've probably done that like 10 times in the past 6 months.
My colleague did the phonebook swap for me and it messed up my routine and I forgot to program the phone! Damn it!

Sprint to retire their Fair & Flexible Plans next month...

Well people, it looks like the Fair & Flexible wireless plans of Sprint Nextel Inc. are going to be taking a permanent dirt nap in January 2007 by removing the $5.00 per 30 minutes overage and replacing the overage with a flat rate tiered to the specific wirlesss plan. This inforamtion was discovered by Christopher Price, the forum moderator of Phones News, through internal Sprint documents. For those who are firewalled from viewing the actual article at http://www.phonenews.com/content/view/1694/1/

here's the article...

Punk-@ss Mall People

So I leave My desk for a few seconds to run to the back to get my water bottle. Before I left my desk, though, I took off my Motorola Bluetooth Ear piece and set it on my desk.

I came back a few seconds later and I caught this 40 something year old, 400+ pound Woman trying to steal my Bluetooth Earpiece! I caught her just before she stuffed it in her pocket. As I'm glaring at her, she sticks her hand out and says "is this yours?"

And I said "Yup."

So she set it doen in my hand and waddled out.

I called security to walk her out.

Punk ass people. I hate them

It's about what everyone else thinks...

This lady was buying a phone for her son and he couldn't decide between the Red Razr (which I avoid selling at all costs because they are sh1t) and the Fusic.
His mother actually said 'That Red Razr looks so cool, everyone else will think it's cool, get that one.'

I was really sad for that kid.

To contrast that, about an hour later a woman came in and was looking at the Red Razr and told her children it was 'important to support Aids reasearch.' Now THAT is good parenting!

A few things...

This might be a bit long winded. I want to start off that I have read these posts for a while now, just never posted anything. I saw the post about customers reading what is typed in here, and I gotta say... maybe they should. While it is true that customer service for cell phones is typically bad... think of it this way... No one ever calls customer service or visits a store because they want to tell us what a good job we do. They call in to complain. All that negativity wears someone down. Then when the next customer calls/walks in, that rep almost expects to be treated like dirt. Also, half the time, when a customer is 'venting' (ex : Calling you every name in the book) we have to sit there and take it. Most companies do not allow their r...
