Bob's day on the phones

So let's recap a little bit about our friend Bob. In the last few weeks he's gotten free admission to NASA, got to experience a free spaceship ride (no matter how brief or the outcome) and has since made a new enemy at the local Wal-Mart.
If we remember correctly the last time we left Bob he was storming out of Wal Mart, fuming angry about his AT&T phone not being repaired after his recent BOOMING experience.
So Bob heads home, wondering just how he's going to get back at these companies.
Upon arriving at his house Bob storms inside and picks up his landline with AT&T, that he hasn't paid since its activation. He makes a mental note to himself to make sure and call them to complain about his service to get the next month for free. Bob dia...

Holiday Hours!! Yay!!

So the joy of holiday hours, opening an hour early, and an ice/snow storm just finishing moving through! Yay me!

Luckily I only had to come in 1 hour earlier and not the originally planned 2. They decided that we shouldn't do our monthly inventory count this morning, I'm guessing because the inventory manager didn't want to join us in getting up before the crack of dawn to de-snow-mix-ice our cars and dare the treacherous roads(They are fun if you ask me) to approve our new inventory counts and post them.

But holiday hours go on! We must open that extra hour early just in case someone is willing to go through all that to come and sign up for a pre-pay plan!

priceless idiotic customer

i had a customer come in yesterday while we were having trouble with our computers. i'm a computer geek by nature, so naturally it was my job to fix them. my coworker was with a customer when a lady came in and walked straight up to me and goes, "i want a charger for this phone!" she shoves an at&t phone in my face. being as we are a verizon store, i wasn't sure if we had a charger that would work for it.

so i take the phone and spend ten minutes in the back looking for a match. i finally find one and bring it up, test it on her phone, and go over to ring it up.

unfortunately, the virus on our computers messed up our credit card processing program, so i couldnt run her credit card. i asked if she had cash or check, she said no. i offe...

The Moto iPhone

I'm an agent for AT&T. I had this man come in today and tell me he just got a Motorola iPhone (it was actually a V3xx) to replace his old Razr which stopped working. He told me I had to set the phone so it would read his SIM card. The card was provisioned and I made a test call. It worked.

He said No, I have over 200 phone numbers on that SIM. I checked his address book. It was empty (new SIM, new phone). He said his old phone had the numbers on it, and he has not changed his phone number so all the contacts should be on this phone, too. (No, he did not have Mobile Backup, I checked his features).

He said customer service told him that I could get his numbers to show up. By this time I have spent 15 min trying to assist him an...

Bob in Space sequel

So Captain Anthony (after his recent sabatage of the Challanger Space Mission) Has been fired from NASA and moved on in his wonderful life without Bob. While he gets back on his feet he has taken a job at a local Wal-Mart as a check out clerk.
Now his supposedly perfect life after the demise of his stalker Bob has turned into a true bust. Every night he has dreams of his phone ringing and worrying about waking up to that annoying guy. He never sleeps and can't get a handle on the fact that this guy is haunting him even after his death.
So after one of these long nights our friend Mr. Anthony is asleep on his feet at his checkstand when he hears a familiar voice that makes his skin crawl.
"I don't care that I didn't get the phone here, it...

I get a lot of rich old men in my store that come in with super non-english speaking beautiful women... I have a feeling they are mail order brides... So I went online and ordered one. It (the bride) should be here in a week. I had her sent directly to my store, how exciting!!! Her name is Helga and shes from Russia. Has anyone else ordered a bride through the mail that can give me advice? Where do I put the body when I am done with it?

This customer so reminded me of Bob....(sorta long...sorry!)

I was so pissed yesterday when this happened that i waited until today to post to possibly cool down.

Picture this...

Man walks in needs a new phone for his wife who has washed it and it no longer works. She is eligible for an upgrade and actually almost a year out of contract so score one for me. However i could tell while walking around our phone bar looking at the phones and discussing his options that he was a total jerk. Nevertheless, i charge on and make the sale.

He goes for a penny phone, we sit down and i do the contract, program the phone and make the test call. I explain that this is another 2 year contract yada yada show him where to sign and he picks up the pen and asks for a car charger. i get up to get one and ...

retailer from other store coming in directing my customers to somone else!

so this guys comes into my store looking all cracked out and smells like he hasn't showered in days. He was asking me all these questions on how we run our store because he works at a random retail in the area and wants to compare. I gave him vague answers because first of all its none of his business and I'm not gonna help your store to take my customers. He then proceeds to butt in on me talking to an actually customer saying how he works at a cell phone store and directs them to walmart to get a phone because its cheaper. wtf dude get the hell out! first he's wasting my time when i could actually be helping someone who's gonna buy something and then directs them to another store. I about killed him. And i had to spray air freshener thro...

Missing Fedex shipment.. Angry customers.. must be Christmas.

We have an account with Fedex because we receive and send so much from the store. Because of this, we allow customers to leave their phones here and we will ship them out to warranty exchange (after they get their fru phones). We do this as a service because the nearest fedex drop off point is a good hike from here, and most customers will not get the phone out in time if they try scheduling it from their home.

This is our companies policy, and we've never had real issues with it.

Then we had this lady:

She came into our store back in September with a phone that didn't have a working mic. We called up the fru hotline and verified that it was a defect (no signs of damage physical or water). They sign her up for a phone shipment.

Very thin line...

I'll start this post off by saying while at work I try to hold myself to a certain degree of professionalism. However I don't think I am alone in saying thee is a very thin line between flirting with a customer to close a sale or...something more. It seems to me lately I've been getting alot of young attractive women in my store. They flirt like crazy, wether it's to get a better deal or genuine interest i am yet to find out. Which brings me to my next point.... Seeing as how I work somewhere in the ballpark of 50+ hrs a week it makes it hard to go out, meet people etc... However corporate policies do not condone fraternization with clients. Kind of a pickle... Does any body else feel like a little restricted by this like me??? 🙂 I mean imag...
