Newbie: can I use a USCC phone as a modem?

The US Cellular people I've spoken to tell me that USCC "doesn't support" customers using their phones as modems, although I hear that some customers purchase their own data cables and do it anyhow. These customers simply "pay the freight" for the data they use.

When a customer is using their phone as a modem, are they using their plan minutes, or do they need to use the Easyedge service?

I'm hoping that the answer is plan minutes. The Easyedge brochure lists a price of $10.95 for 10 MB/month of data. 10 MB really isn't very much however - an hour or two of web surfing could use that up.

I'm not interested in the sports, weather, games, or all that other Easyedge stuff that they want to sell you. I want to connect my laptop ...

Phones You Would Like to See Us Carry

I personally have suggested the LG VX-8000 and the LG MM-535 (if they would swap Java for Brew on the latter).

US Cellular Pay?

I currently work for a wireless company and was contemplating switching companies. I have heard good things about the pay at US Cellular and was curious as to what kind of pay you get? What do the top sales people get per year? If it helps, I am in the Chicago/Milwaukee market. Thanks in advance for your responses.

ONE TERRIBLE PROBLEM WITH PLANS!!!

Here is one terrible problem with the U.S. cell plans in Chicago. Here it goes for one on the national plans they tell you 1,000 anytime minutes with no roaming and no long distance which is good but what they fail to tell you is that your voicemail, text messaging, night and weekend minutes and free incoming calls don't work as soon as you leave the local calling area!!! WHAT A JOKE!!! So what it sounds like is a pathetic attempt to compete with a real cell company!

USCC you have one last chance

I really love USCC service in Morgantown WV but need a PDA phone. And not the boat anchor Kyocera they carry. Why can't USCC get theTreo 650? Seems to be a reputable phone. Help all you USCC employees. Give me some models you guys are looking at and testing or I guess I will be sprinting to SPRINT
Thanks

New US Cellular Phones?

Other than the LG 6100, can anyone tell me if they know of any other cell phones coming out for US Cell. I really like the phones that US Cell has, but I was just wondering what else they are going to offer, because I don't want to get the same phone everyone else has. So, if anyone has any idea, please let me know.

Extended Plan

I was told by two different USCC managers that the National plan in the Chicago area was extende through FEB. If your waiting for the LG VX 6100 maybe you should wait. When I talked to the Rep's in my area they said that they still had not heard when the LG will be ou t. Maybe the end of FEB.

Chicago nationwide price plan!

I think it is awesome that Chicago has that nationwide price plan. Yet I am so jelous that we didn't get it also! I hope it is something that our marketing team impliments permanently in all markets. USCC needs something to stay competitive with all the national plans that all other carriers have. It is becoming the demand. I'M JELOUS!!! 😁

Why Do You Think USCC Doesn't Carry Samsung Phones??

I think it would be a great move on USCC's part if they put a few samsung phones into their line up. Samsung makes a lot of really nice phones for other CDMA carriers such as Sprint and Verizon, and from what I have heard, the majority of Samsung users are very happy with their phones. Is their any word on why USCC does not carry them or if they do plan to in the future?? 🙄

For the Motorola V710 that USCC offers, is the Bluetouth crippled in it like it is for the one that Verizon offers? Thanks.

national service with US Cellular...

Hello,
I am located in the chicago-land area and am planning to travel around the country. How is service for those of you that have used US cellular nation-wide? Any problem areas? What have been your experiences in the markets not specifically owned by US Cellular? Thanks for the help.

On a side note, I'm sure this has been covered, is it possible to use the v710 from US Cellular for mp3? I've read it is in fact possible to use the transflash memory cards despite what sales reps have told me. Any truth with the above? Thanks all.

Alltell-US Cellular-Western Wireless Merger?

If it went through, the new company would have 15 million customers, just shy of T-Mobile. New major player would be born:

nWeb anyone?

Has anyone tried the nWeb application and if so what do think about it? How is the network speed? Too slow for surfing? The phone I currently have is not edge-enabled so I'm thinking of getting one with edge just for this purpose.

Best quality phone at uscc

I currently have the lg 5550 and have found that people I talk to do not hear me well. The sound drops near the end of sentences and can be slight choppy with a bit of an echo. I had read that the 5550 is a good phone. I travel throughout the Chicago downtown north side and have the same issue.

I like the phone plan I got so I don't want to switch. Can anyone share with me the best phone at USCC for quality? I don't care about any features I just need the best sound on the sending and receiving side possible.

Thanks

v710 Problems

I have sold two 710's in the last 10 days. In the last day, I have had both customers come in complaining about screen problems. The phone will have lines through the display and then the phone will lock up. Anyone else running into this problem?
