ONE TERRIBLE PROBLEM WITH PLANS!!!

Here is one terrible problem with the U.S. cell plans in Chicago. Here it goes for one on the national plans they tell you 1,000 anytime minutes with no roaming and no long distance which is good but what they fail to tell you is that your voicemail, text messaging, night and weekend minutes and free incoming calls don't work as soon as you leave the local calling area!!! WHAT A JOKE!!! So what it sounds like is a pathetic attempt to compete with a real cell company!

I don't know about the national plan in Chicago because I don't work in that market. I work in the mid-atlantic. But, with every single promotion we offer even on our regional plans, voicemail and text messaging works fine outside the local area. Promotional features like 7-7 nights and weekends and free incoming calls have always only worked inside the local area...and there are plenty of business factors relating to that.

At least US Cellular does offer blanket coverage of their local areas unlike other carriers. When I had Sprint back in the day, I could be in one area and be in local coverage and drive five minutes down the road and be roaming and paying for it. US Cellular's blanket coverage by county is great...if I'm in the co...

My personal experience has been USC is very upfront on where and when features operate.

I was not aware of the blanket coverage until a USC call Center person TOLD ME about it. I had my phone set to home only to keep from roaming within my local. I was used to Sprint and Verizon plans that charged big bucks for roaming within your own home area if you skipped off a tower.

Blanket coverage has made me a die hard USC customer.

maverick, vm and txt are not "guaranteed" to work outside of uscc markets. however, they have roaming agreements set up with verizon, sprint and alltel and you should receive your vm's and txt when using those networks. the reason it's not guaranteed is because they have no control over what problems may occur on other carriers networks. and by the way, what's up with all of the bashing that is done on these forums, uscc must be a real cell company or else they wouldn't have industry low churn rates. they must be doing something right

I can confirm that all "features" work fine as long as you are on a digital network while roaming. "Not Guaranteed" is probably the best way to describe it, but I haven't had any issues with text messages or voicemail notiifcations. Call your own number if *86 doesn't work.

We all know about different pricing outside of home area, that is explained in detail when you sign up. What I did find surprising is that my tri-mode phone could not receive any incoming calls while on Analog. I suspect the local network is to blame, though.

All features except for easyedge, correct? I'm going to the East Coast next week and I was told no easyedge because of how USCC bills for data. Everything else would be fine.
