Hello,
I am located in the chicago-land area and am planning to travel around the country. How is service for those of you that have used US cellular nation-wide? Any problem areas? What have been your experiences in the markets not specifically owned by US Cellular? Thanks for the help.

On a side note, I'm sure this has been covered, is it possible to use the v710 from US Cellular for mp3? I've read it is in fact possible to use the transflash memory cards despite what sales reps have told me. Any truth with the above? Thanks all.

I can answer the first part. I'm in the Chicago area, too. Roaming is not a problem. If you have the new national plan that is available in the Chicago market only, you won't pay any roaming fees.

You will get a roaming indicator on your phone regardless if you have the special national plan with no roaming. Otherwise, you cannot tell the difference. Most likely, you will be roaming on Verizon (most non-USCC markets). Sprint is the other main roaming partner. I do not believe you will be able to use BREW (easyedge) in a non-USCC market. I believe this has to do with how USCC charges for data and not minutes.

I recently switched from Verizon because of the special USCC national plan with no roaming. I don't travel much, but I don't want...

I have been to Boston/Cambridge and the Twin Cities with my phone, along with northern Wisconsin (which USCC doesn't cover locally) and it has worked fine everywhere I've been. Actually, when I was in Boston I got a better signal in my friend's apartment than he did!

Just thought I would fill you in...

A.) When roaming, you are using other competetors towers, so stating that "uscc" roaming coverage is good, is false, because it is not dependant on uscc coverage areas.

B.) uscc has has 2 new national plans for the chicagoland area. the 35.00 and 45.00 national plan. 35.00 is 1000 nationwide mins and the 45.00 is 1500 nationwide mins. you can add Unlimited NW mins for 4.95/month per line.

C.) you can sharetalk these plans. Take advantage of these, they end sooner than expected.
