I would love to see something that combined data and texting.
If they had unlimited text messaging included I would feel better about paying the 30 dollars a month. or allowing family plans that charged less for data based on the number of iphones on the account.
I think this is a good post that covers the basics.....
The Phone has flaws. But overall they are trying to give the people what they need without going to n95 territory on the price. But don't be suprised if some of these issues aren't addressed in the future.

1. Consumer Reports Rated them the second highest carrier in my area (highest nationwide)

If you have insurance here is what you do:
1. Take your sim card out of the dash and put it into another phone that you are interested in and make a few phone calls.
2. Report that phone lost. what tmobile will do is replace the last phone that you used on your sim card. That will be the phone you want (insurance for a quality phone is 110 for a cheap phone is 50)

First. Due to the FCC ruling if i wanted an i phone I would go and get it and then have it unlocked for Tmobile.
2nd. If I wanted a music playing Phone I would cop the N95 with a four gig memory card.

The Correct answer to your question is ATT can unlock it.
The way that I understand cell phone laws is that they cannot keep you from moving a cell phone from one carrier to another techology permitting. So.... If you were to buy the Iphone and For one reason or another cancel the att service (or not even get it for that matter) att has to unlock that phone for use with another carrier. They have to unlock it if you travel overseas and need to use a different carrier... ...

All cingular stores pretty much have the same rules so you need to make the changes that need to be made in order to get the phone you want.

So that phone you got in 1999 back then was probably worth, 350.00 in europe and now is worth less than ****. If the camera is a con on your mda don't worry about it on the 8800, because the 8800 doesn't come with one. If you use any of the tech features (mp3, camera, videos, whatever) just remember the black has none of that.
