Help

I am at work and need some help. I just got the RAZR V3XX 2 days ago. I'm at work with no charger and the phone seems to have died on me. The battery was fine. I was carrying it in my Moshi pouch in my front shirt pocket. I took out the battery and the moisture indicator looks to be white with red polka dots. Is that normal? I have no idea what could have caused this phone to die all of a sudden. Does anyone have any ideas?

Means you got moisture damage and just messed up the warranty.

There's NO way being inside my shirt pocket, and inside a cloth pouch, and with a metal casing that phone should have gotten moisture damage.

If it's white with red dots, that's normal.

Now if it was completely red that would mean you have water damage.

I've seen a few v3xx's die for no reason. I'd take it back to the store and swap it out for another one.

For some reason, I have an ideal to take it back and get the KRZR.

why?

the krzr has a smaller screen and no 3G. it's also more money.

I would suggest swapping it out for the same phone. If you switch it for the Krzr that's the phone you'll have to keep.

You can only get one exchange to a different model. If you get a new v3xx you can still switch it for a krzr later if you're still within your 30 days...

I think the place I bought it at has no policy like that. I am ashamed of where I got it (but I saved alot of money getting it there). Just something about the KRZR. I cant explain it. And I dont have 3G in my area and God knows when I will get it.

All cingular stores pretty much have the same rules so you need to make the changes that need to be made in order to get the phone you want.

I got it from Walmart. Took it back and got the KRZR. Overall, I will say the V3XX is a better phone, but since my daughter will probably end up with it anyway, I'll keep the KRZR.

Red and white is OK as long as the white parts are not pink. Make sure the contacts on the battery are clean and that the battery is in as tight as possible. Try sticking a little bit of paper in the top between the battery in phone to make sure the contacts are firm. I hope that is not too confusing. Do you get any action. Does the keypad light up or the handset start to vibrate?

I dont get anything. In looking at the watermark, I am presuming I am looking at the correct one. Its a white square with little red dots on it. It wont take a charge, power on, vibrate or do anything. Its just dead.

Thats what we call a DOA. This does not happen often but some handsets as with most consumer electronics fail within the first few weeks of operation. Your are looking at the moisture indicator and it is red and white checkerd desighn. if it gets wet it kinda smears and turns pink. Your fine and as long as you got the handset from a company owned location your guaranteed in store for uo to 30 days.

Try to hold the battery in place pushing down on it so it is snug and hold the power key. The power key is the same key used to end a call but would need to be help for approx. six seconds. Also, If you plug it in nothing happens?

Yes I got the handset at a reputable store. Its got 16 even polka dots so I dont think its liquid damage. Just freaky. I've had liquid damaged phones and at least they would do SOMETHING. This one does nothing. Not even when I plug it in to the charger. I may just get the KRZR. I am not crazy about handsets dying on me.

I can assure you this is an isolated event. This model is one that doesnt come back often and my location in particular sells a lot of them. Every model ever carried has defective units its just the complex nature of the product.

Are you sure about the KRZR? You would be giving up 3G and screen size and in most places a higher price tag.

No, I am not sure LOL. I would also be giving up more internal memory as well. 3G is not in my area currently and who knows when it will be. Yes its $39 more as far as price tag. Maybe I will just try it out. It looks like a good phone too.

I have no complaints about it and I have had mine since it was launched. I just can not justify the KRZR to be worth the extra money.

Good luck and sorry I was not able to solve your issue

No no no. You helped substantially, but explaining that the watermark was fine. That was my biggest concern. Tomorrow morning, its an easy swap. Maybe I will help justify it by saying it has a better camera. Again, you helped me plenty. You had the phone since it was launched? Which one, the KRZR or V3XX?

I appreciate the help you gave me the other night. I did in fact go and get the KRZR and less than 24 hours later I went back and got the V3XX. Why? Here is what the KRZR has on the V3XX is this...its pretty and easier to handle with one hand. Other than that, nothing. I really think the KRZR is barely more than a pretty phone. The camera is well under par, and how anyone can say its better than the SE W810 is beyond me. The KRZR UI is so SLOWWWWWW. I'm not so sure the camera is even better than the one on the V3XX. I have an SE K790a, so I wasn't looking for a camera phone, I have the best one on the market, except for MAYBE the N95. But other than size and cosmetics, the KRZR is far inferior to the V3XX.
