With the fact you have to unlock it through Itunes to even get it to work on ATT I dont see it happening.

People found a way to bypass the iTunes within 6 hours of the phones release. Its only a matter of time before it gets unlocked.

yeah. apparently you can only use the ipod features. you can't make calls.

i don't understand why Apple decided to lock the phone. They should be like other phone makers can make unlocked ones to make more money. And again, phones are on a "monopoly" basis in this country.

Apple is a new player. I'm sure they had to cave to some of ATT's demands. Not to mention Moto and the others don't sell unlocked phones in the US. Those are gray market phones made for other countries. When Apple has similar deals it may be easier to buy an unlocked iPhone.

T Mobile will give you the unlock code to any phone after 3 months continuous service through them. Go T-Mobile.

As for apple iPhone unlocked? It's bound to happen, but then what? You only really have AT&T and T-Mobile for service...or local GSM sister companies. (Edge wireless out in Eastern Idaho)

The way that I understand cell phone laws is that they cannot keep you from moving a cell phone from one carrier to another techology permitting. So.... If you were to buy the Iphone and For one reason or another cancel the att service (or not even get it for that matter) att has to unlock that phone for use with another carrier. They have to unlock it if you travel overseas and need to use a different carrier... they have to do it.

at&t CAN indeed unlock the phone, but will they....I'm betting the farm the answer would be NO. Profit, and the 5 year agreement made with at&t Apple. at&t doesn't have to unlock the phone at the time due to FCC not approving carriers to unlock their manufactured phones. This is still in the works, but until then, the iPhone will remain with at&t till DVD Jon or some other leets find an exploit on the iPhone.

i would LOVE for someone to stick it to apple and at&t, and unlock this phone. That would be splendid. And there's nothing illegal about it! AMAZING! God bless hackers, and America.

Intriging. I wasn't planning on asking him to unlock one for me, I just hope he posts instructions on how to unlock an iPhone. That will be sweet.
