Not really. Try calling into customer care because they have more flexability in pricing than stores do. But unless you've been a customer for a while, or on a high rate plan w/ good payment history, you're probably not going to get a discount so early into your contract.

you could try ebay.

SIM cards work in any T-mo phone.

you could sell your dash and buy another phone.

i would go through a place like puremobile.com, though

most ebay phones dont work.

there are a few way you can still upgrade.

1. you can still place upgrade orders online even if you dont qualify for a full upgrade.
log in to your t-mobile account and go to phones and accessories then on the right ride of the page select upgrade my phone. you will not get the same price as full discount but it still a partial discount but you do have to extend your contract.

2. you can call in and say you want to cancel unless you get a better phone, they can transfer you to the SAVE department and they might give you a better price if you extend your contract. ( unless your Smart Access , there is no SAVE department for those accounts )

3. buy a pre-paid phone kit. there is no contract needed and they are usualy less than buying...

If you have insurance here is what you do:

1. Take your sim card out of the dash and put it into another phone that you are interested in and make a few phone calls.

2. Report that phone lost. what tmobile will do is replace the last phone that you used on your sim card. That will be the phone you want (insurance for a quality phone is 110 for a cheap phone is 50)

If you don't have insurance try this

Sell your phone or trade your phone on craigslist (this usually works because you are dealing with people on a face to face level, thus they cannot screw you over due to the face to face nature of the website)

threaten to cancel

As long as you are paying a huge bill this will work out for you because it will give you a little b...

the problem with your first idea is that T-Mobile registers the IMEI number of a phone under the account that makes or receives the first call on that device. that means in order to file an insurance claim on the phone you would have to have been the very first person to ever use it. so you are still stuck having to find a way to get the phone you want in the first place so you will still have to buy it.

and also t-mobile will check your call logs for at least the next 90 days to make sure you never use that phone you reported stolen on your account ever again, they will also cross check ALL other t-mobile phone numbers you have called and will call for the next 90 days to see if any of them use the phone.

that means that unless you ne...

Technically you can, but it is generally frowned upon in the corporate stores as it looks like fraud (it looks like the rep is selling it out to boost his/her quota). If you do lose your phone, buy a prepaid one from Wal-Mart as they sell the phone to you unactivated and use the SIM card inside to reactivate your line, and dont buy a prepaid phone from a corporate store as we are supposed to activate it under prepaid.
