Okay, here's the deal:

About 2 weeks ago, I got a new Samsung Stripe free with a contract for T-Mobile, and they said something about 20 days for the phone. I scratched it a couple days later, (I'm clumsy, please don't slam me for that โ˜น๏ธ ), and the screen also cracked a bit. It hasn't been 20 days since I got the phone yet, so does that mean I can trade it in for a new phone or not? Do I have to keep it? Any answers?

I dont know how tmobile works in that department, but I do know that verizon and cingular have to same rules that apply to your situation. I bought an enV(verizon wireless) for my youngest son(12)last Turesday and he droped it running down the drive way and it got all scratched up but the screen did not crack for anything and I took it back to verizon and sorta lied about how it got scrated up and made up a reason for them to need to exchange it and they said that they could not exchange it because major and or alot of scratched voids the warrenty and that LG will not except something like that. And I had to buy him another one for $367 dollars.

What I'm hoping I can do is just explain my situation to T-Mobile, saying that I just don't like the phone, and if I can trade it in. I'm looking at the Sidekick IM, and it says $100 for a new 2-year contract, I hope I don't have to pay full price which I probably will...any other thoughts or anyone else know what I could do in this situation? B/C right now any other phone seems better than a scratched Samsung Stripe. ๐Ÿ™„

I know our policy(Cingular) is strict. 30 days in like new condition, absolutely no damage. Your best chance is to get trade in credit and they will resell your damaged one at discount.

Or, cancel but don't return the phone. Then just go start a new contract and get a phone at two year pricing. Cheating, but it's all within the rules.

No, it's not. ๐Ÿคจ T-Mo is starting to charge for non-returned phones. And activations can see that a new line was already activated and will simply want to restore the old line. It takes 90 days of being cancelled before you're considered a new customer.

For your damaged phone they may offer you $xx.xx off of the retail price of another phone. You give them the scratched one and they give you whatever phone you want at a lesser price. Or, just buy the new one at retail and sell your scratched one on eBay.

T-Mobile doesn't buy back handsets and give credit nor do they sell used handsets at a cheaper price. If the phone is as damaged as you say, then you wouldn't be able to return it. Returns must be in like new condition only, every cell carrier is strict on that. For people who are clumsy, Samsung is bad because they're handsets tend to be bit flimsy. Nokia, some Motorola's, and the Pearl are more durable although Nokia is the most durable. I've seen people through their Nokia into a wall, it falls apart, they put it back together, and it works perfectly fine. Sorry to give you bad news though.

Is T-Mobile all COR stores or are there agent stores around? No company buys back handsets, this is why you find an agent store.

You are stuck with it...you can go back to the store and buy the SK if you want it, but they are not going to take the damaged phone back. Its like trying to take a new car back when you just sideswiped someone and its all scratched...they will laugh at you and tell you that its yours now. New or like new condition means just that...

first of all i dont know who you got your phone from but we only have a 14 day trail period in regards a phone, so you might want to check your paperwork and see if that is the case, because scratch or no scratch after the 14 days its no bueno for you...now be in mind that if you go back to the store you actually got it from they might be more lienant but cant be to sure about that...as far as returning damaged goods even within the 14 day period its not likely because you should have got insurance and you cant add it after the fact that it was damaged because that would be fraudulent...but i hope this info helps be in mind to check your paperwork for the return period.

Call Asurion. That's the insurance carrier. If you don't have their number, call Customer Care. They'll give it to you and transfer you to them. File a claim. Pay the deductible. Receive a new Stripe. You might have to mail Asurion the old one. Or you can just go buy a different phone and pay the monthly fee for the insurance for no reason.

- Find out the return policy (I think it might be longer)

- explain your situation and your goal.
(I think if you are with in your return period you might be able to still get the phone you want, but pay the insurance fee)

- Call tmobile to do this (all cell phone stores work on commission, and if you phone is really messed up, they have no problem telling you that you are stuck with your device and leaving it at that. Because if they take your damaged phone back, they will take a loss, do it over the phone, the situation might be different)

- Remember one thing: THE SIDEKICK ID ISN'T EVEN FOR SALE YET. So if you want a better phone to make this work, you might want to try something else.

- Stop buying free stuff (I hate to do t...
