i have to pay to upgrade??!!!
I have my cell phone with cingular or cellular one or now is called att since 1999!!! After that yr contract. I never had EVER since!!! So i have been with the company since 8 yrs!
I called about upgrading my phone, and i found out about upgrade fee???
why do i need to pay a upgrade fee??!! i have to pay to stay with the company to get a phone?!
why dont i just pay for the phone?!!!
Cell phone industury sucks in the USA!!
I dont know what's wrong with it but europe and asia market dominates us ten folds and company here doesn't care!!
I would never will or would i sigh a contract with COMPAN Y because of their rules!!!
If you want things to be like the Asian and European markers where you have the the ability to change your phone when you see fit or be able to switch to various providers at will then be prepared to kick out full retail price on the next phone you want to buy.
If you're not willing to pay the upgrade fee than don't upgrade your phone. No one is holding a piano over your head threatening to cut the string if you don't purchase a new phone.
Which is what I'd do anyways, frankly. I've only ever once taken a contract on cell phone service, reluctantly, and for only one year.

Don't care.
i did the same thing for my mom and dad at Sprint.. they gave my mother a phone that after 3 months, it stopped working.. so my dad decides to upgrade a new phone, and give his to my mom... of course they added the feee. i called (they dont speak english) and told them off... in the end, they waived the fee.
you just have to speak up.
Dude, maybe its time to move to t-mobile or something... there's always a way around this, just have to be calm and think.

there's always way around the system. system is control by human.

when that day comes, i'll deal with it then. today isnt the 19th. 4 more days to complaint and get wat you wnat. HAHAHAHAHAH!! :-D i do thank you for pointing this out.

Thats why the new changes go into effect on Sunday, cuz the system is being modded so that it can't be overidden. Please do call in, as many times as you want.
We changed our policy on that as well. Every time a customers calls in over and over, it now knocks down their LTV score, LTV is the LifeTimeValue and the more you call the lower your score and well the lower it goes, the less we will do for you.
See we now have the ebst way to deal with...

isn't the customer always right ........??????
Uhhhhh thats not the case anymore.....
its whining customers that mess it up for legit customers
this is why i hate cellular sales cause of what carlos mencia says "Stupid People"
yes ppl do abuse the system and those ppl should pay for it. at the same time, CS do help for the system to get abuse. maybe thats why your company is doing what they needs to do. Remember the system are control by Cingular.. so if you are working for them... you help with all these abuse and new changes.
i prolly am the most consistent rep and strive to make sure i am RIGHT Everytime
i also talk customers out of the first phone they want because its never the right phone for them
i am the complete rep and have a wait most the time just for my expertise
so i do try to make sure the abuse is down to a min
and if i can't do something for a customer i always have a solution for the customer if they don't wanna go my or the AT&T route
Probably the craziest thing i ever heard! then go ahead!!
I rather pay for the phone and knowing I am not stuck in a contract!! Is even better!!!
let me break it down for the math challenge customers and people on here
if u buy phone a. at the $100 price and receive a $50 dollar rebate u really only paid $50 for the phone
Now if u did that price with a 2 year agreement u are NEVER STUCK it would just cost u $175 to break the contract.....
hence it will cost u $175 + $50 which equals $225.00
but what if the FULL PHONE PRICE IS $300
then by doing the contract didn't u just save $75???????
so for all u guys thinking u are making it better off out of contract thats fine but u could always get a better deal in contract and pay your way out of it later on
so be the smart shopper quit bitching about upgrades and contracts and do your pocket a favor DO THE CONTRACT ......
(continues)
its a stupid fee someone paid cause the companies threw it out there and no we ALL have to pay it ....
we should boycott
Now, when I open El Paso he is going down there to check out the stores. Hmmmm, Will and I at a Juarez strip club....
That will be trouble.

Curious, since the activation fee according to representatives covers everything from rent, power costs, training costs, food costs, securing the phone number, equipment/tower maintenance, and etc; what does the upgrade fee cover?
it doesn't have to cover anything. it's a fee. just like if you transfer your electric from one house to another, there is a fee. fees are fees. why argue them.

It doesn't have to but it does.It helps pays for just a couple of the following : the warehouse staff that receive, stack, inventory and get shipments ready to send off to customers.
It also helps the ability to give discounts provided through reba...

Please, if that was thr case, we'd have John Travolta and Tom Cruise doing commercials for us. 😈 🤣 😈

If those two overrated media whores started appearing in ANY provider's commercials you might as well give me two tin cans and some string.

Our way of bundling is illegal in most of the world but it works for us.

Wow Licor..
Lets see.. What if I am one of the 80% of the country that doesn't travel abroad? I guess GSM is moot for me..
Great point.. almost..
I'll just pick up the 8830 this month (cdma/gsm) blackberry and go wherever you can!
Your 3G network is about the same speed as VZWs EvDo network..
Oh your right.. Cingular doesn't offer a 3G Blackberry..
I can switch by calling CS and switching phone (I think)
I guess it's all in what you consider value I guess..( I was only pointing out an incorrect statement made by that other guy about pricing)
I personally wouldn't use VZW becau...

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't VZW also charge $1.99 a month for detailed billing?
i won't correct you becuase you are right.
also, correct me if i'm wrong, but that sweet little picture of the kid can just be bluetoothed to mom and dads verizon phone... right? or you have to pay verizon for the right to have that picture on there? 😉

Wrong back up assistant is free now, quit posting you know nothing about verizon.

Interesting, I was charged $10 for an ESN change last week. If you're not charging would you like to send me $10 via paypal?
so you was just getting contacts moved from one phone to another. because in store esn change is 20.00. not 10.00. but all of that can be done online for free or can call customer service to get done free.
Upgrades are always free online, upgrades are free through customer service in most areas, upgrades are free if you are using the New Every Two.
In the Midwest there is a $20 upgrade fee for doing an upgrade in a store and a $20 upgrade fee if you upgrade with the Annual upgrade program at a store or through customer service.
Verizon Wireless doesnt want existing customers in the stores, they want new customers in the store and existing customers to use the website and customer service if they arent able to use the website.
I understand why really, the idea is to have the store reps getting new customers to join while having existing customers use the f...

In order to get the discount, that's when the upgrade fee and the 2 yr agreement come into play.
*sigh*
no matter what, I have to pay $18 for the upgrade fees!!
just because they upgrade!
they bill it to your cell phone bill!
Tarabottamoos said:
You don't *HAVE* to pay to upgrade. As a matter of fact, you can skip the upgrade fee AND resigning the 2 year contract. You just buy the phone outright.

*sigh*
whether you sign a 2 year contract to get a discount, when you get the phone you are still upgrading the handset so yes you get the upgrade process fee of $18

if you are saying customers are charged an upgrade fee when they buy a phone at retail price then that is incorrect... paying retail price for the phone is not charged an upgrade fee.
