Nokia 6101 / 6102

also..they pub up the voice express feature...which to my understanding is like sending a voice text msg... how does this technology work? What other phones would support this feature? It sounds cool but what good is it if your friends don't have a phone that can except this type of message? Is it a kind of MMS format?

I just wish cingular would give a universal date already and stop putting it off they do this with every one of their phones and it just annoys people i kno they want to put it out with the new service but this is rediculous its been put off for 2 months already im just hopping it comes out soon bc i desperatly need a new phone if anybody knows the release date for sure id love to kno what it is

To the people who have posted about having this phone...

How do the MP3 ringtones sound? Are they clear? I know on my old Moto V400, I got VERY clear MP3 ringtones that were long too! Now on my LG, the MP3 ringtones are horrible quality, and they're also short. I have never heard an MP3 ringer on a Nokia, because none of my friends have one. How do they sound?

Just heard some frustrating news from one of my Cingular contacts here in the Wash DC metro area. They confirmed a mid-Sept release date (which syncs up nicely with my commercial rep’s info when looking at a delivery document that showed a mid-Sept arrival in the warehouse) but said there is internal debate about releasing the phone before the mid-Oct release of PTT. She indicated it’s very possible they’ll hold off the release of the 6102 until mid-Oct now, although this wasn’t definite.

Might just be another rumor – but it sure seems to validate some of the delays and uncertainty on the actual release. 😕

my store has ordered the 6102 and it should be here any day now. we are getting a delivery tomorow and it might be in that shipment.

cingular is a joke/to many old headsneed some new breed

Any idea when we can start ordering it? I live in Niagara Falls, New York. If my stores dont have it where else can I order the phone from? I dont want to extend my contract so I would just purchase the phone at retail from Cingular. How much is it full retail?

I have been waiting on the new Nokia 6102. With all the talk of the new Individual Rollover Plan starting Sept 1, I am concerned what I need to do.

How exactly will the new Rollover minutes be for the individual plan? Am I better off with Rollover minutes as an individual before or after September 1st? Should I quit waiting on the Nokia 6102 and go with the Motorola v551 for a better rollover plan? 😳

I wanted to let everyone who is interested in the Nokia 6230 and who has Cingular service, that I am selling mine.

This phone is AMAZING. Who's ever been waiting for the perfect phone: you've found it. I purchased the 6101 tonight so I will be selling my 6230 asap.

Nokia has transferred from the expected soon page and shows it available from TMO. I'll be calling them again. No info on TMO site yet though. seehttp://www.nokiausa.com/index

I think they deliberately not producing a very good, all around phone. I am sure they are not stupid and know what we want.
They make phones that are “good but something is missing”, so we are buying one phone, throw it out and buy another one, and so on. We have to play a catch up with a developing technology, so they know that we will be doing it. If we had an all-around good phone, it would stick for a while. (Like StarTEC for example did – there was an era of StarTEC phone, wasn’t? I had it for almost 4 years)
But that’s not what they want, they want us to buy phones as kids need toys, every quarter – a new one.

Does anyone know how to transfer your own MP3 ringtones to the 6101? I'm not sure what kind of software and cable is needed, or how to send them. Also I'm not sure how to retrieve them once on the phone. If anyone knows please help me out...THANK YOU

Rumor has it 6102 will not be PTT for Cingular. So dont worry.

I am planning on changing from ATT to a Cingular 6102 ASAP.

I have a few questions,
1. does anyone know how the PTT works with the new plans? (how does PTT work with the minute usage?)
2. how will the basic single plans change Sept 1, would I be better waiting for the new single plan or trying to get one of the plans available before then as far as rollover minutes, N/W etc (assuming the 6102 is available in time) 😳

The 850 version of the phone is out (Rogers, Cincinati Bell), yet none are on eBay yet.

My v551 is crapping out and I'm dying to pick up this phone...even at a no-renewal price with Cingular.

I've been waiting for the unlocked American version of the 6101 but it's taking forever! I have a brand new 6230 b/c I just signed up with Cingular and it's a GREAT phone but I want to go back to flip (i will be selling my 6230 when i find a 850mz 6101).

Besides the 850mz for Rodgers' unlocked 6101; is it just like the American version that is coming out feature wise or will it be differant (such as languages, ringtones, etc.)?

Like so many of you, I have been eagerly been awaiting the 6102. After delay, after delay, I'm now looking at the 6230. I can't really find any features that I would miss out on. Is it just me, or is this a fair/equal trade off? I don't really need the flip!

So how is 6102 is supposed to support PTT?

EDGE is running on 1900MHz. PTT is being implemented on EDGE.
And that's the highest that 6102 supports - it's not a UMTS/3G phone.

I know that Cingular is working on this, but right now PTT (Cingular's) is not implemented on UMTS/3G.

How come there is PTT button on 6102 or even on SE Z500a-definitely doesn't gave 2100MHz – only EDGE.

I wonder why dates are so secretive as far as phones go. They have a crappy lineup with the exception of a few phones, mine happens to be one of the crappy phones.

I was really looking forward to using this feature but it isn't even mentioned in the book, and i can't find any button relating to Push to talk, but I'm sure on websites it says it has this feature. Can anyone help?
