MP3 ringtones

To the people who have posted about having this phone...

How do the MP3 ringtones sound? Are they clear? I know on my old Moto V400, I got VERY clear MP3 ringtones that were long too! Now on my LG, the MP3 ringtones are horrible quality, and they're also short. I have never heard an MP3 ringer on a Nokia, because none of my friends have one. How do they sound?

As much as I love this Nokia and I reaaallly do.... The MP3's majorally (is that a word?) SUCK on this phone. I have tried my best with the Audacity software to get them to sound good, but they don't. I still use them cause all I need is a ringer to know that someone is calling me. There only on for what, 3 or 4 seconds?? If T-Mobile comes out with the True Tones ringtones on their site, they might sound better than doing them yourself. Now as far as the MP3's go, I'm only talking about ones you can do yourself, the ones that are already on the phone are good quality, but they are not real songs. They have samples of voices on them and they sound good, but other than that, my previous Moto V300 had better sound quality. But you couldn't down...

Thanks to Out2L8, I tried IrDA for the first time. It works well. I like it better than hooking and unhooking the cable to the phone.

Dude! And here I am using the stupid cable!!!! I guess I'm gonna have to buy an Irda dongle now!

Glad to hear it work well! Any problems transferring large files (picts, ringtones) with IR? I've read some place that the transfer rate and data size can be limiting.

BTW - these things are pretty cheap. I've seen this one on sale for as little as $8.99 here:

Hee hee. 🙂 The transfer rate seems a bit slow. I'm not sure if it's the same with the cable or not. But I have been successful in downloading ringtones. No data like pictures or video yet.

Yeah, I've read that irda has a bottleneck with transfer speeds. Not exclusively hooked when to a cell phone, but just in general. Still a very good answer for many electronics.

I'd still like to try it to see if it is a good solution for me. I'm not a "power cell modder" so I only need to synch names, dates and so forth. I don't expect I'd have any serious problems with speed in this case.

I finally tried it with a video and text messages. Using the Nokia Suite 6 point something or other, it transferred faster than the ringtones did. Especially the video. I was surprised at that. So, it should do fine with your synching.
Go ahead and buy a IrDA off of EBay. I got mine for a penny. Of course, shipping was 7.50. But for a first timer leery of infrared, it was worth it.
