Nokia 6101 / 6102

So many mixed stories I don't know were to turn. I like the 6101 & 6102. Im sure the 6101 will be more affordable, so that would prob. be my choice. I am STILL anticipating cingulars PTT service and would like to use the 6101 with this. Is cingular for certain getting the 6101?? I heard Sept 12....haha...not yet...not here anyway. Please help clear this up if you know FOR SURE if cingular will be carrying the 6101...and WHEN it will be available. Thanks phone peeps! 🙂

I just have three quick questions.

What is the alarm clock like on this phone? My LG 1400 has a horrible alarm clock.. it goes off once and there isn't even a snooze button! For that reason, I've kept my Motorola V400 around to use as my alarm clock, since it has a snooze and can store several different alarm clock times. Does this alarm clock have a snooze button?

Can you read text messages on the outside screen? Also, can you change the picture on the outside screen to one that you have taken with the camera?

How do the MP3 ringtones sound? My Motorolas have all had excellent ringtone sound, but my LG sounds awful when I put an MP3 ringtone on there!

None of these are dealbreakers for the phone, but I'm just curious.

🙂 I live in Hawaii and I ordered this phone through the upgrade program price of $149.99 I should have it before the end fo the week. To buy it out right it is $229.00. I already have the unlocked/asia version and I think the phone is excellent. 😁

I work for a store and we just got all of our demo models in today. Everything is ordred and ready to go, just waiting for them to get here!

I am in dire need of help. Another memeber is helping me; I called Cingular techs and reps. and Cingular store reps. and Nokia. No one knows the exact settings or codes for the Nokia 6101.

The closest I got with a rep.was that she lead me through all of the proxy setting; bearer settings, etc.. but still no luck (she didnt know the dialup # though)

Can anyone help me who has the unlocked Rodgers Nokia 6101 setup the internet??

Do the 6101 and 6102 both come in 850 or 900 versions--- is it 6101a,b and 6102a,b again? Or is the 6101 900 and the 6102 850? It's so confusing--- Nokia has really got to get it together on their numbering system. I want to make sure I get the USA version-- so is there a 6101b or do I have to get the 6102? By the same token, could I mess up and inadvertently buy a 6102a?

I finally got my unlocked 6101 from Canada (Rodgers). I have Cingular and I downloaded a ringtone from the website but this phone (and i was afraid of this) says I have no GPRS connection to connect to the internet.

I need help on the access code.

I've been waiting for the new Nokia 6101/6102 to come out. I've heard that it is supposed to have the best reception of any phone Cingular has ever carried.

However, while shopping for an 850 version of the 6101 on eBay (since I will be paying full retail rather than upgrading my Cingular account) I noticed that the price is not much different than a RAZR which is quad band.

So, long story short, I live in rural Kansas and have previously been using a GAIT phone and plan. I know that my GSM coverage will not compare to my GAIT coverage, but my phone is all but finished, and I'd really like a flip rather than a candybar. What's my best bet for maximizing the reception available to me here? RAZR? Nokia 6101/6102? Or something completely ...

i was the first the one to buy the phone from my retail store on monday with an upgrade price of $169.99, but i returned today since i couldnt do with the low volume speaker and thought that the price is way too high...

now i ordered 6682 on letstalk.com for $99.00.
i know they are different style with different specs, but this time i am hoping i ll be happy with my purchase..

I see that suncom is offering it on their website. Is it a different version then what Cingy is getting since I see on here it says PTT and on Suncom's site it does not mention it being a PTT phone?

i know it's through a 3rd party, but this phone is FREE after instant rebates at letstalk.com when you sign up for a t-mobile plan of $39 or more/month.


also, the 6682 is only $99 through cingular!

my gf got her motorola phone for cingular through them and it was all good.

is there a way to get one from nokia or somewhere unbranded?

what if i buy the t-mobile one? can i make it so the power on screen doesnt say t-mobile?

what the heXX is cingular's problem. i checked out a live 6101 @ a nearby t-mo store. it is nice. good weight, sturdy feel, basic user friendly nokia functions.

i was gonna go for the 6230 until it just got recalled! a cingular rep told me today that supposedly some ofthe 6102 are shipping this week. another option i may turn to is the SE z5250

I just purchased a new phone, Samsung e317, and I am not satisfied with it. I like everything about the phone except it don't have speakerphone, a feature I LOVE. What upsets me the most is when I placed the order the lady at cingular assured me that it DID have HANDS FREE SPEAKERPHONE. Now I have to send it back, AT MY EXPENSE, and get what I thought I paid for(one with speakerphone). All I am looking for is a camera phone with hands free speakerphone with the (the best I can get) signal/reception. What phone do you guys/gals recommend? 🙂

Any word on whether today is still the release date for T-mobile. If so, I'm going to buy one on my lunch break today. I'll let you all know what I think of it when I get it.

I was just into Mytmobile on tmobile's web site, and if i wanted to upgrade today, the 6101 is one of my options, its $169.99 with a contract extension, or $229.99 to buy it out right.
Just thought you guys might want to know...

i have some dct4 software that i used to unlock my 6340i and it has a list of most all the nokias that can be unlocked. i wanna know if anyone knows whether or not the 6102/6101 falls under the dct4 category and can be unlocked thru these codes also.

I notice that when I try to use a photo that has been sent in an MMS message to me (T-Mobile) that when I use it as a Background it does not use the full screen. I have tried to vary the size of the picture in the email but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Does anyone know the answer? (Maybe this just does it on pictures received iva MMS messages?)
