I finally got my unlocked 6101 from Canada (Rodgers). I have Cingular and I downloaded a ringtone from the website but this phone (and i was afraid of this) says I have no GPRS connection to connect to the internet.

I need help on the access code.

Thanks!

i've scoured howardforums (assuming my 6101 ever gets here), and I can't find anything on how to set up the GRPS/WAP/MMS on this phone.

however, if you have a laptop with IR, you can get nokia's pc suite for free from the website and IR things like ringtones to the phone.

Thank you so much! I called the Cingular store I took my last Nokia unlocked phone to yrs. ago and the gentleman that knows (maybe) how to do this is on vacation and they said to call back Monday.

So I called other Cingular stores and of course thier dumb and wanted me to call customer service. So I called customer service and the lady tried working with tech support and she said the settings are out there but they can't send them to me b/c I have a Rodger's phone (but it's unlocked so that makes no sense). Stupid people!!! (some are stupid)

If you do find out how to connect; please let me know, I greatly appreciate it. The error I am getting when I try to connect to the internet (Rodgers) is: Must subscribe to GPRS first with a littl...

You might try calling Nokia. They do have this kind of info, but i'm not sure if they'll give it to you.

And I'm in middle of no where Texas. Very long way from Canada.

I see that Fidorulz wrote back to your Howard Forums question; which is great!

The only thing: what would Cingular's wap site be?
And for the Username do I put in my first name, etc.? I was just alittle confused but it looks like it will definetely be our answer.

Thanks

My twin sister has Cingular too and I'm looking on her phone and all I see as her recent web site visits is http://device.home

Would this be it?

Thanks

playing around with an older nokia I had laying around, all I keep getting is "Authentication Failed."

I'm thinking it's the APN under the Connectivity menu (rather than settings).

But hell if I know. lemme know if you figure it out.

I am getting the same darn thing!!

What exactly is our home page? I've been playing around with this for ours and I've tried http://device.home & http://device:home

Then, is the username WAP@CINGULARGPRS ?
Is the password CINGULAR1 ?

I know we say no to use preferred access points to create our own, but what is our proxy?

Under bearer settings: whats our packet data access point? (is it wap.cingular.com)?

Thanks,

If you can lead me thru on what Cingular info. to enter, that would be great

Do we have to have a data plan with Cingular to access the internet? (b/c I called NokiaUSA and they said I have to have a date plan to access GPRS) But I didnt have a data plan with my prior phone (Nokia 6230) which was locked thru Cingular.

Thanks

a thought occurred to me

Try that using the 6230 as your device. I think it will work as the software is similar, and it will be the similar edge settings.
