"I received my 6256i on Friday. Activated it on Verizon without any problem."

Someone wrote this in a review:

"I received my 6256i on Friday. Activated it on Verizon without any problem."

So, how does one activate the phone? When I bought my Motorola V60i from Good Guys several years ago, they activated it.

Would the above be an example of a person buying a phone from a place like E-Bay and then having to take it to a Verizon store?

Moto Razr or Nokia 6256i

Im looking for a new phone can't decide. I prefer nokia products. Nokia pluses works with my existing chargers. Has full bluetooth not like I will ever use it. Has nokia interface not verizon ui. Is a tri mode phone not digital this is a definite plus. Has a mmc card slot and a fm radio the razr doesn't have this. It is a nokia. The bad does not have evdo, only 1xrtt technology. and not as sharp as the razr. You can't purchase it at the Verizon store and use your new every two you have to patronize Best Buy or Radioshack or buy it online.

ringtones for VZW on 6256i

ok, so i bought the 6255i like 2 months ago, and wasn't able to get actiated on the VZW system, even though it had been a test phone...W/E.
now i've bought the 6256i, and notice a lot of things are the same... but the ONE thing that aggravates me beyond anything is that it seems VZW has disabled the ability to set my own songs off of the memory card as my ringtones. While i understand that they want me to dl their songs from get it now, they do not and cannot offer the songs that I have, as they are by friends of mine, or they just plain dont have the popular bands that i do have on my mmc.
Does anyone know a way around this? it keeps saying wheni try different things that it is an invalid file... i'm wondering if i save the song as a midi...

Best Buy 6256i Cost and Return Policy

I purchased a Nokia 6256i yesterday at Best Buy. With a 2-year contract the cost was $149. I asked about the return policy and I was told by the guy in the phone dept that it is 30 days. My receipt notes that they have an extended return policy during the holiday season, but I'm not sure if that extends to phones. They aren't specifically excluded in their wording as some purchases are.

Early report:
1) Easily paired with Infiniti M35. Can make calls but the voice quality is a bit muddy. Haven't made a major effort to transfer phonebook entries.
2) Purchased a USB Bluetooth dongle and, with minimal difficulty, installed on my ancient P3 desktop and synced with Outlook. (I had to edit my contact list to

Tested Moto BlueTooth earbud HS-850

http://www.legitreviews.com/article.php?aid=208&pid=2 »

At the site/article above they tested out the Motorola BlueTooth headset, HS-850. They tested it with the Treo 650 and the Moto RAZR V3.

The HS-850 worked very well with the Moto RAZR and badly with the Treo 650.

This reinforces my instinctive thought that BlueTooth headsets made by the same manufacturer somehow pair together better, although I figure there are people here who do use the Moto HS-850 earbud with phones other than Moto, and are happy with the pairing.

"Out of state" upgrade to 6256

I went to Best Buy (Manhattan NOHO) this morning to upgrade to a 6256, but they told me they cannot keep me on my current plan and with my current phone number because it's "out of state." I laughed and asked if they were kidding, but unfortunately they were not. They also said that they only offer "local" plans and that based on my description of my work I'd run bills over "$1,200 per month."

I'm guessing I ran into an idiot sales rep here in NYC, but if virginia best buys can sell plans that have been updated since 1998, I could fly back to virginia (where my cell phone number is from) to get a new phone if that's the only way to keep my roughly $100 bill for a 2000 minute plan that enables me to use my phone from anywhere in the USA ...

Nokia replied to my question about the Nokia PC Suite!

Last week I discovered that I could not download the NokiaUSA PC Suite to my computer bc I use an iMac and not Windows. I was disappointed and a little desperate to think that without access to that PC Suite, I would not be able to do the tasks that I had in mind, which was to transfer photo etc files from phone to my iMac.

I emailed Nokia describing my perceived plight and asked for comments. Well, their reply finally came, and it is great to know that they echo the positive sentiments of several people that I spoke to about it. Here is the entire letter, and do note what is said about using the MM card! -Lorna

6256i FEDEXed at this site. Is there a catch to this?

Am I to believe this? I went to a site that will sell you the Nokia 6256i and with a rebate it is free. It is the regular Verizon plan offerings. They mention FEDEX.
Would you buy from this site? Does it not seem like something or a miracle, or an empty promise -- they take your oney and then you sit and wait for the delivery and maybe you wait weeks?

Any USCC News

Has anyone got any updated info as to when this phone will be released for USCC. I've been waiting on this one for months now, and I am hoping that it will finally be released. USCC is always slow to put out new phones.

The earpiece, is it just mine?

I saw all the demo 6256i's earpiece has 3 openings or holes or whatever you call them, two on the top forming kinda semi-circle, and one tiny one like a dot below that semi-circle. I just noted that the upper-right opening/hole is still SEALED like from inside. Is it just mine or this is some kind of default?

6256i - Never available at Verizon stores

I spoke with 3 Verizon stores today, and all 3 told me that Verizon will never sell this phone directly. Something doesn't smell right with this phone, and it's a shame.

to buy Nokia products in person, not via internet.......

I want to have the phone, the charger, and the BlueTooth earbud all ready to test drive once I get the phone activated.

I note that there are no Nokia stores. Does this mean that if I want to talk to a real person and touch and see the product, I have to go to the Experience Center? And if not, I can order from a site?

From the VZW front...

I talked to a local VWZ store rep in Emeryville, CA about the 6256.

VWZ reps don't have any listed information about this phone. None. They won't be getting it.

It's not a matter of "not passing testing". That's obviously total crap, as anybody would realize. Think about it. Why would VZW let their name be put on a product that isn't good enough for them to sell, but is OK to get at third party dealers, to run on the VZW network, and get VZW support?

Total crap.

VWZ has two or three third party phones that are sold *only* at places like Radio Shack and Best Buy, and not at the Corporate Stores. This is to get people to those third party stores. Otherwise everyone would go to the corporate stores and no one would buy from t...

Nokia Business Card File Format???

I just bought the nokia 6256i for Verizon from Best Buy, and yes, Bluetooth is NOT crippled.

I previously was able to send .vcf files over bluetooth to my previous Sony BT phone w/ Tmobile. With this the VCF files fail...I can send anything else (most anything else anyway, text files etc) to the phone and they get there without a problem, but it appears, at least in my best guess that the phone doesn't know what a vcf file is and thus refuses to receive it...

Anyone?

Thanks!

6256i - going back

Well I've definitely confirmed the limit on the number of contacts - 500, no more. I synched with Outlook at it stopped at 500 - memory full. Too bad, I had hopes that this phone could be PDA-like. It goes back tomorrow. Good luck to all who keep it, let us know how it goes for you all.
