Any USCC News

Has anyone got any updated info as to when this phone will be released for USCC. I've been waiting on this one for months now, and I am hoping that it will finally be released. USCC is always slow to put out new phones.

Not until it has been discontinued by at least 3 major carriers. I stick with USCC cuz of their coverage and service, but they have the most pathetic phone line-up in the industry.

I know of a provider that is alot worse and this is there current lineup not a phone museum.

I know there are some providers that have not updated there webpage in many years and offer different phones. For This provider that is what they really offer today and some other phones as well like Moto V120c

USCC is still trying to push the phone through testing. The one issue left is a bluetooth compatability issue with certain car kits. We'll release the phone when it passes testing, regardless of who is carrying it. August is the predicted launch date, although it keeps getting pushed back. We've made nokia go through 16 different versions of software for the 6255.

I'm just ready for the testing to be over and the 6255 to be in my hands. At the rate that this phone keeps getting pushed back, I would not be surprised if it isn't realeased until november or december. 😕

Trust me, I relate. I'm an agent and I want this phone so badly! Both Nokia and USCC have a pretty big stake in this phone coming out this summer because of the promise of summmer 05 in the commercial, so I really hope this will be ready for release in august.

I just heard from within the company today that it is still on for an August launch date but not to hold your breath for it. Apparently it has failed all of the testing for USCC.

Wish I could tell you a date, but my guess is probably good as your guess.

I did go to a US Cellular store in Des Moines, and ask about the 6255i and my response was Nokia has been spending more money over in Asia in 2005, since Nokia is more lucrative there. So Nokia did not build enough handsets for us to launch the phone yet. 😕

I highly doubt there is any truth to that, but that was the responce I got.

Yeah and Altell and Cell south have had this phone out all summer.

Its Smart that US puts there phones thru testing b4 they put it on the market.

Anyone know when this will be released if at all?

Everyone thought I was joking. Now they are beginning to realize I was correct in saying that USCC will not release this phone until it has been discontinued by at least 3 major carriers.

word. It sucks that your carrier makes you wait this long for such a great phone. And if they are waiting for a major carrier to pick up the phone, that's not going to happen...

Failed testing again...or perhaps "continuing to fail testing on a constant and consistent basis."

Pushed back till september.
Sure.

Nokia 6255 Update
We are excited about offering this highly anticipated handset to our customers. However, we have had some last minute issues during our testing period. We currently do not have an accurate release date. We do, however, anticipate a launch around mid-October. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may case.

Hahaha,
Karmadiver was your post a joke? I am just laughing because I do not think that this phone will ever come out for USCC. The 'last minue issues' that you are discussing have been happeing since 2004. I have been waiting patiently for this phone since march, and I am about ready to give up. Anyone else agree?

How awful!
USCC has plenty of great phones, the moto710 is equivilent in features to the nokia, for example. If it's worth paying ridiculous rates for far less minutes and embarassing coverage for a phone that isn't the nokia you were waiting for then more power to you!

Oh...and it's "supposed..." Duh.

Crap phones? Cingular dont have that phone out either. Every company has video/mp3/bluetooth phones. Come on now its 2005. At least US Cell Test there phones b4 they come out to make sure that is all set for customers. Oh and Cingular according to consumer reports got the lowest customer service rating. Have fun paying twice as much per month with cingular and getting less mins. A phone is a phone. I would say the 710 and the KOI are maybe even better then the nokia 6255i. Nokia has always put out a great product and when this phone comes out it wont really matter cause US CELL already has video/mp3/bluetooth phones.

oh yeah oh yeah, those are real neat phones... ha they are like a year old, and so will the 6255i when and if USCC ever gets it... hmm.... I don't know why everyone hates cingular so much, and really half the mins? so what like most people even use their 1000 minutes + Night and weekend + Free incoming... yeah it sounds great... but really... it's all marketing most people that go to USCC seem to me tend to be people that don't know much about this stuff and just go their because their little friends have USCC. If you want a company with features or heck new technology then USCC might not be the place, but hey if you want old phones and more minutes than anyone can use go right ahead but don't expect much more than that. That is probably w...

Ok, its been 2 months since this thread started and are we any closer to seeing this phone released? Does anyone have any SOLID info as to when this phone will be released for USCC? It is becoming as elusive as the Bigfoot...Im beginning to wonder if it really does exist.

The Nokia rep that I am in contact with says it should be released, or able to be ordered, November 1st.

Yeah, it could be another mythical date, but, it's been months since it was supposed to be released. Let's hope November 1st is the TRUE release date!

The launch date is TBA according to the November 2005 edition of Agent Connections. November 1st is not the release date in market 3 anyway; I'm also in maine. We don't yet have the ability to order the phone, and considering tomorrow is the first, they obviously wont be in the store until a later date.

The good news:
The handset has been approved, it has finally passed testing.
The handset is now in "friendly user trials," the last step before release. Although USCC had hopes of getting it out this summer, they have not given any news saying the phone has been approved. Now that they have given this information I'm fairly confident it will be out very soon.

My boss ordered the 6255i yesterday. We will have them ready to go in the store tomorrow. I'll be buying mine when I come up with $241 bucks (what the bossman pays for em) and he said he'd give me some money for my lg4750, which is a couple months old but in perfect condition because it's never been out of it's skinsuit.

SOOOOOOOOOO excited.
