Ringtone Options for USCC

I was wondering if anyone knows how to transfer mp3 ringtones to this phone (besides buying them on easyedge)...it seems that USCC has disabled this feature for the 6255. I have tried all of the converters in the Nokia software 6.6 and still cannot get one of my created ringers to work. The only success that I have had is transfering midi ringtones to the phone. They generally suck, so I would prefer to be able to make my own. What is also odd to me is that they did not disable the ability to transfer games to the phone, only ringers. Weird!

US Cellular Ringtones

I have purchased the 6255i. I like the phone but you cant use your MP3, Midi, anything like that for your ring-tones that I have found. I was told my a US Cellular agent that we want you to use easy-edge to get ring tones. AKA bend you over the counter and take your money to download the tones. They get to charge you for the easy edge service and then charge you for the songs. 😢 I have a friend that works for US Cellular and has the 6255i that came straight from the factory. He can use any MP3 he wants for a ring-tone because the US Cellular service isn't downloaded in his computer. This is wrong by US Cellular. It is a Monopoly at its best. I know there is a hack out there that you download over a USB cable. However I have been told it...

6256 ?? Voice Dialing ??

I bought one when it came out from best buy

Did verizon change anything?

We need the better voice dialing , The voice dialing was aweful on this thing.

I hope VZW changes the UI and puts in their own.

Also the Send button brings up the numbers dialed but not all the calls like every other phone made.

Where can I find a variety of MIDI ringtones?

I understand that the 6256i cannot play MP3 music files as ringtones, but is it possible for me to find and use other ringtones that are NOT MP3? Is MIDI tones the term I should be using?

The ringtones on the 6256i are *ok* but if I could check more out, I would be happy.

Any suggestions?
(Meanwhile, I have bought a ringback tone for my callers to hear. For December it's a beautiful jazz rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by Cristina Aguilera, that magnificent little songbird. I think it beats the Johnnie Mathis version by a longshot.)

Ringtones for this phone!

I wanted to know if anyone knew how to add ringtones to this phone, in the past I have heard of people saying that they have used voice recording as ringtones, I would please like to know how because when I try it, the phone says the file in Invalid. The weird part is that I can use the voice recorded ringtone as a message alert. What's up with that, its weird if any has in answers could you please respond.

2nd Camera Key discovered; makes it a lot easier to shoot with Mini Display/One complaint

I just now discovered the camera button on the SIDE of the phone. This effectively invalidates my earlier complaint that it was difficult to press the Select button when taking a picture with the mini display because it (the Select key) was too small. Earlier I was trying to push the Select key with my hand contorted in an odd position. Now it is easy to press the SIDE Camera Key.

The new complaint for me now is that if I select Mini Display, it does not stay in that mode for a long time. You have to click "Continue" to get it to stay in Mini Display mode, and if you let it go too long without clicking "Continue," the camera reverts to Main Display.

THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE.

for Nokia Fan & other good souls who were interested

The other day I commented that I received a flyer from VzW showing the 6256i and offering a deal. When questioned on the veracity of my statement and when asked what the deal was, I replied that I had tossed the flyer into my trashcan outside.

This morning I went to my trashcan and retrieved the red and white flyer. Nokia fan and others who are interested, this is for you:

One side of the red flyer shows a photo of the 6256i and the following text:

Get FREE $30 Visa Gift Card by mail when you buy the new Nokia 6256i. It lists the phone feature, including enabled BlueTooth.

It further says: HURRY, available exclusively at participting Verizon Wireless Authorized Agent locations. Then it lists those VzW authorized AGENT...

6256i - programming the four-way scroll key

Nokia phones are supposed to be user-friendly -the four-way scroll keys are not helpful. I want to modify the 'quick link' options on the four-way scroll key. Any ideas?

Video: Can I adjust the time/length of video I shoot?

6256i question:

Without a memory card:
Is there a set limit of how long the video clip can be? I tried last night and the clip cut off at about 15 seconds. I looked at all logical menues for a place where I could change 15 seconds to a lengthier time, but found no place that offered that ability.

With a memory card:
Would I then be able to shoot a video for a longer length, restricted only by memory card capacity? Would the phone be able to know to switch to memory card memory before taking a video?

FYI: Yes, I do have a Sony mini digital camcorder at home, but I don't always carry it with me, so the phone camera/video becomes my default choice when video worthy incidents arise.

Not to happy MP3 Player is missing

I read the posts about the MP3 player being removed. I just bought my Nokia 6256i ylast night after and difficult decision between it the razr and several other phones like the moto 815. Well I read the manual and no mention of the MP3. Some little things swayed me to choose Nokia over either moto phone. First, I prefer Nokia, and like tri mode versus digital phones. Second, I often use my cell phone as an alarm when I travel and the nokia 6256i's alarm will work with the alarm off neither moto's will I tried them at the Verizon store. When I showed them that my old 3589 did that they were shocked.

Cases

I got my 6256i at Radoshack but they do not have cases and neither does best buy. I checked nokias web site they don't make a case for it either. Third party outlets have a case for it for about 10 bucks online. And alltel has a case for their version the 6255i. Im shocked nokia would make a phone and not a case. Guess i hve to go to alltel.

Need an indirect recommendation for Arizona

I want to buy the 6256i. If I were a new customer, I could get it for free, but since I'm not, I need a recommendation for an honest indirect who gives good value. The indirect must be able to do contract extensions in Arizona for VZW.

Hiss and hum coming from speaking phone

Does any one else have this problem with their phone. The phone makes a hiss and hum sound when you use the speaker phone. The speaker is not really that good either it is very tinty and lowering the volume reallly doesn't help. It sounds very poor. I am very disappointed, if it keeps doing this I'm going to get rid of this phone. And I love Nokia.

6256i *will* be sold at the stores

I called VzW for tech support last night and when she discovered that I have a 6256i, she commented that it was a good phone, and that VzW doesn't have it now, but it WILL carry it in the stores in the future.

I do realize that in cellphone world you have to ask the same question 5 times and you can get five different answers, so this is just a report of what I was told, not what I necessarily believe....... although I tend to believe rather than disbelieve. -Lorna

If RAZR has OBEX might take back 6256i

Verizon claims that RAZR doesn't have full OBEX but those who have bought claims they have been able to transfer files and stuff using bluetooth I just wish i knew the truth and someone would know what the hell they are talking about. Cause I just need a good phone will bluetooth I don't need an fm radio or any of that crap. And the razr sure looks much better than the nokia 6256i. But the Razr has some things I don't like like just like some things on the 6256i.
