Am I to believe this? I went to a site that will sell you the Nokia 6256i and with a rebate it is free. It is the regular Verizon plan offerings. They mention FEDEX.
Would you buy from this site? Does it not seem like something or a miracle, or an empty promise -- they take your oney and then you sit and wait for the delivery and maybe you wait weeks?

It's only $49.99 from Nokia direct, with a Verizon contract.

Why not?

Thank you. I went to the site and noticed, just incidentally, that they speak of the 6256i but they show the picture of the 6255i. -Lorna

I had forgotten to make other required toggles. Now I do have the page with the Nokia 6256i, but it is showing the SILVER one. I don't mind, but.... why are they not showing the silver and white slated for Verizon???

This is at the Nokia site. Is this a good place to order from?

I am in zip code 60056. I bought from cellularchoices.net site with 2 lines family plan, with 2 yr contract, $69.99/month, America choice network plan. They gave me the phone for free. Ofcourse as a mail-in rebate. i.e., $200 each phone. They(Verizon) charged $35 for activation for each line. As you said, they sent me using FEDEX, 2 day air.
I bought from the same vendor previous year too(for cingular phone) and I got back my mail-in rebates(75+75 and 75+75 = $300)

Thanks for this. I am assuming that you are both very happy with your phones and your plan. -Lorna

BTW, the site to which I was referring was in the Mobiledia site.

Question: If I buy a phone from a venue other than a Verizon store, and if there is a defect in the phone, will a Verizon store exchange it, or will they tell me that phones not bought at the Verizon store will not be exchanged? Will they tell me to go to the site that sold me the phone?

I just saw the 6256i (the silver version) at the Cellularconcepts site with two rebates bringing the cost down to Zero, and this included a BlueTooth earbud (though they did not say that it was a NOKIA earbud) and am wondering how responsible cellularconcepts are when people have problems with the phones bought at that site.

Also: Does the phone come with a charger?

I have been following this thread and others like it. I have always bought my phones from the VZW store so have no experience with the Internet sites. The one time my wife got a phone from a stand-alone store it was not to her liking and they gladly took it back within the 15-day time frame. Returns would, then, have to go to the place from which the purchase took place be it Best Buy or the Internet. I seriously doubt that the VZW stsore would help on PHONE issues for a unit they do not sell. Service issues they should be happy to help with.

Personally, this phone appears to be the one for me and (call me crazy) I am going first thing Fri AM to pick up this phone at Best Buy. There is no indication that it is coming anytime soon to...

And be aware that at Best Buys, you have a THREE DAY grace period, after which time you will be paying a fee, whereas at the VzW store you would have 15 days... enough time to check everything out in all the places where you know you will be calling or receiving calls. You will have time to check out whether the charger is working well, whether the BlueTooth features are working, whether the photos are at least what they ought to be for VGA, whether the file transfers work, etc. For me to do that in three days I would have to have everything assembled and ready at arm's length and I would be doing a LOT of driving to check out the reception in certain areas.

I don't think I will buy from an Internet site.

From where did you get the 3-day-grace period info? If it was from this site or from Howardforums I would still (as I am going to do) ask about it at Best Buy.

The main functionality I am concerned about is the interface with my Infiniti. Second is an interface with my Palm. Anything besides those is cake for me. I live outside of Philadelphia and work in the city, presently in the Verizon Building. (No, I'm not a Verizon employee...I don't even know if they have offices there.) The VZW reception, with the exception of a few areas of the suburbs, is excellent. This will be my first phone with a camera so I have no expectations. If I were to buy a phone for its camera it would be the Samsung a970, but it doesn't have the full BT ...

The 3 day grace period is with Best Buy. I know because I walked into a Best Buy store and asked.
