I am considering the Nokia 6255i, but what is stored on the mmc card on these type of phones? Is it just for mp3s, or also for contacts/sms etc...? Also do I need to use a dual-voltage mmc card to read it on a computer?
Just a shout out to anyone with or considerin' this phone, on any carrier... it ain't durable.
Good friend a'mine has had one for only a little over a year, and its now badly cracked at the part that holds the hinge (not the hinge itself). He didn't drop/abuse it, and the crack is widening/getting worse with normal use. This is the BODY of the phone, so... not reparable. He's soon gonna have to chuck the phone after only a year. ☹️
Good phone in most other ways though. Too bad Nokia didn't build it to last.
I have a Nokia 6255 and have installed the app for gmail. It works but im always promted with, " This phone requires and data connection..."
I have already trouble shooted through gmails help a discusion. My goal in placing this is to find other 6255 owners who have tried or are willing to try and see how sucessful they are in the same venture.
I already am on the web with my phone and I know I am on data package. Also if anyone can tell me of any back side codes to this phone in order to trouble shoot things better.
I have been able to have the nokia software connect with the 6256i but not able to sync data or transfer files (windows 2000). Any suggestions? or do we have to wait until Nokiaa updates the phone list for the software?
Identifying icons on the main display (User Manual incomplete)
I am trying to learn what those icons on the main display mean when phone is in standby mode. This is a task bc the user manual (page 11) fails to identify some of the icons that I am seeing on my 6256i.
1. At the top of the screen, what is the meaning of a round black ball surrounded by two pairs of parentheses?
2. On the far left upper side of the main display, what is the meaning of what seems like a 3-pronged pitchfork standing on its end with horizontal bars over it? Right now it is TWO horizontal bars but I suspect those bars change.
I have a Cellular one 6255i on an Alltel Account. Everything works well except for sending picture messages. Anyone know if changing something within the program will allow me to send pictures? Also not as important, but the phone always says roaming, is there a way to override this? Thanks!
I have had a total of two different phones since April 2006 and the phones have spent more time getting repaired then they have in my possession. It seems like the phones are having the same problem
Cons 1. Phone is always dropping calls while in use or you don’t get them because they went straight to your voice mail. Signal wise is full bars 2. When someone calls you and you have them stored in you address book, the phone will do a double ring. If you catch it quick enough you will see who it is on the first half wring, but if not then all you see is a phone number that is being displayed on the second wring. 3. The phone will shut down by its self when someone calls you even if the battery is fully charged. Sometimes I have even ... (continues)
I broke the side hardware volume control on my Alltel 6255i -- volume down microswitch actually broke off the circuit board! I guess I'm just stupid, but I can't find volume control in the software interface/menus. Any help and/or suggestions -- other than trash the phone?
I pretty much figured everytything on this phone thanks to all the phone scoop people here...but, did not find anything on the backlight...or the display light lenght. How can i make it to stay lit longer??? THanks. 🤤
i was in the metropcs store paying a bill, when a sale person approach me trying to sell me a phone. and i politely told them no, that if needed a cell phone i would go on ebay. and the saleman replied, that even if i was to buy a metro pcs phone on ebay to watch out because some metropcs phone are area specific. that it might work in one metro pcs market but not another metropcs market. is this true???????
