I have been able to have the nokia software connect with the 6256i but not able to sync data or transfer files (windows 2000). Any suggestions? or do we have to wait until Nokiaa updates the phone list for the software?

I've been syncing Outlook contacts and calendar just fine with my 6256i. I am using the Nokia PC Suite connecting via Bluetooth to OL2003 running on XP Pro SP2.

What are you using? I did have one snag getting the software to see my phone, but a call to Nokia answered the question. I needed to disable security on the Bluetooth serial port profile.

I am also using the Nokia PC Suite, Windows 2000 and a D-Link Bluetooth adapter. It seems when the adapter finds the device, the PC Suite does not, and then the Suite finds it so- still getting communication error when trying to sync with the suite. 😡

You MUST turn security off on your Bluetooth Serial Port profile in order for PC Suite to work.

I disables security for the serial port and all PIM related profiles as well.

Yes, you need to make sure that secure connection is disabled for your Bluetoooth Serial Port profile.

I have a Motorola USB Bluetooth Adapter which comes with the Widcomm drivers. The native XP SP2 Bluetooth drivers do not offer the controls required to make these changes, so I have to use the Widcomm drivers.

If you go to My Bluetooth Places, you should see a Bluetooth Serial Port profile. Secure connection must not be enabled for PC Suite to work.

Before I fouind this out, I ran the PC Suite wizard and it found my phone without problem. However, PC Suite would always report "Nokia 6256i not connected" until I call Nokia and they told me to disable security in the Serial Port profile. Worked for me.

I agree with you! Other from having to finagle my contacts so they sync in Last Name First Name format, I am thoroughly happy with the 6256i! I hope to never have to use that awful Motorola Mobile Phone Tools software ever again!

Glad you overcame that last obstacle. I am now at peace (mostly) with VZW.

Thanks Guys...You Rock! I was having the same problem with my Nokia and was on my second phone. I had gotten nowhere with Nokia support...or at least no solution that lasted more than appoximately 3 syncs, had talked to Motorola and Telus and no-one was able to help. I was on my way, reluctantly, to the Motorola KRAZR.
After a crazy conversation with, I swear, a technophobe selling mobile phones, who told me it was impossible to do what I was wanting to do via bluetooth, I came back home without making the switch and in my net travels came across this thread.
I did it...it worked...I LOVE MY PHONE!
THANKS A LOT GUYS.
😁 😁 😁
