saw it on Cnet video with Kent German

I saw the Nokia 6256i described on a video by Kent German on the Cnet website.

1. I notice that he never commented on the quality of the main display. He did on the outer display, but not the main one.

2. He noted that the keys lie flat on the phone and would therefore not be as easy to get a feel for.

3. I myself was a tiny bit disappointed in the look of it, but that would not stop me from getting it if it is a quality device that does what it says it can do and if the BlueTooth is *fully* enabled.

Why was I disappointed in the look of it? Bc it was very very plain.... but I prefer too plain to too done up.

Backlit keys? What color?

Does the Nokia 6256i have backlit keys for illuminating the keypad in the dark? If so, what color is the backlight? -Lorna

6256i - Not a big phone

Stopped into Radio Shack to look at the dummy model and was expecting to see a huge brick based on some folks who have posted here. On the contrary, it was just a hair bigger, and no thicker, than my LG 4400. It seemed unbalanced (heavier on the screen half), but I'm sure that's because it was a dummy phone and there will be better balance once a real battery is inserted. Too bad I couldn't see how the memory card fits in.

The Menu button is really small, but nothing I can't learn to live with.

Info from VZ online manual

I just looked at the online manual for the 6256i. Under the section labeled Bluetooth, the only item mentioned was for pairing handset to headset. Would you presume this to mean that is the only supported profile?

Pictures

I know this is asking alot but does anyone have any pic's of this (verizon) phone next to another phone? I am wondering how big it is. I see the specs and compared it to my lg 6000 but the shapes are different so i wanted to see it next to another phone.

The phone is available on line at Radio Shack. It is $129.99 with a $30.00 gift card rebate. The display phone on the site is the all silver phone without the blue on it.

What does the i stand for?

In 6256i, what does the i stand for?

I ask because when I asked a sales rep what the i in my Moto V60i stood for, he told me, "It stands for INTERCHANGEABLE face plates." It was then that I bought the deep metallic apple red face plate for my V60i.

So: What does the i in the 6256i stand for?

treo 650 vs 6256i?

Hi- I like my Treo 650 but the reception and drop calls are frustratin. So- will this phone really have the capabilities that the Palm OS provides with syncing the calendar (only to outlook?- how about palm desktop, or iCal) contacts, pop email, web and still have the reception that everyone claims- It seems to be a no brainer to change to the 6256i if the functionality of the phone is what the threads seem to state. Any thoughts or comparisons? Thanks!! 🙂 P.S. ANy idea when Verizon will be offering the phone?

Another Bluetooth Crippled Verizon handset

The Nokia 6256i phone is presently engineered to meet Bluetooth Specification 2.0, Handsfree, Object Push, Generic Access, File Transfer, Headset and Serial Port profiles, as well as Bluetooth headset, laptop and car kit profiles. To ensure compatibility with other devices with Bluetooth technology, check with the device manufacturer. Bluetooth is a registered trademark of Bluetooth SIG, Inc.

The info disclosed on Phonescoop says version 1.1 / supports Headset, Handsfree, Object Push, Generic Access, File Transfer, and Serial Port profiles.

The problem is that Bluetooth SIG will likely strip most of those profiles away, when it gets Qualified for "VerizonTooth", since they only want the handset to have limited functionality,

Radio Shack showing 6256i's in inventory now

Just called the local radio shack, they show the 6256i's for Verizon in their inventory now, said that means they are basically stocking them in the warehouses now and should be in stores in a few weeks. Price from Radio Shack was $99 with new 2 year contract (or your "new every 2" thing) or $299 otherwise.

6256i full mini review I posted in Verizon forum !

The phone is here and it is pretty darn nice.

I just activated it and started to play with it about 1 hour ago.. Give me till tonight to post some good stuff about it.

So far here is what I can tell you..

The keypad is the first thing I noticed I liked very much. Big keys and a great tactile feel.

Speaker phone is the best I have seen. People can not tell at all if you are on the earpiece or speaker. I have tried this with 5 people already and they have no idea. This is very good.

The menu system is nice and kind of samsung like. It's not the new LG type crappy menu. It's their own and I like it.

The graphics are very good with awesome colors and really nice text. The font they use is very good.

BLUETOOTH IS ENABLED 100%...

Bluetooth Problems

I work for a cell phone company and i'm getting tons of complaints about this phone and bluetooth when its been connecting for a day or so after one call the answer key on the headset quits working even with turning the headset off every nite to charge it we've tried 5 or 6 different headsets all having the same problem only thing we've been able to do is turn the bluetooth off on the phone then it works again for a while. Anybody else had this problem?
